We had a wonderful experience with the City Sightseeing Oxford Bus! We decided to pop into one of the main shops on High street to buy our tickets. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They handed us the tickets, ear phones and colouring book and crayons for my daughter. As it was Halloween, they even surprised us with some treats! We hopped on the bus at Broad street and we were extra lucky to find out that our bus had a live guide too. I was also very pleased to find out that there is a kids audio guide version for the tour, which was perfect for my little one. The tour was very nice and, even though, I have lived in Oxford for 10 years, I discovered a lot of interesting facts about the city. We all loved the experience and my little one was already asking to do it again! I highly recommend it!

The hop on hop off bus gave a good overview of the beautiful city of Oxford. It was comfortable and the recorded tour was very informative. The walking tour was great β¦ there were no other customers, so the experience was like a private tour. Greatly appreciated!
Book tour was great. Walking tour guide Chris was wonderful, highly recommend.
Hopped and on off throughout the day, done the 1 hour walking tour with Jasmine, which was absolutely brilliant, she brought a joyful personality to the tour, and is a true asset to company. We had the same driver twice, didnβt catch his name, which Iβm annoyed at myself for because he was so pleasant and the information he gave us on where to get a coffee was spot on.
it was absolutely great experience for sightseeing with Andrew on Oxford sightseeing bus.
Really good. Does a circuit of town with stop off at various places. Essential on a wet day or to orientate
First ,letβs give Nick our driver a big thumbs up. Smooth journey and great commentary. A very good tour under very windy conditions.
We had our walking tour on Monday 19th October 2026 at 3pm with Graham as our tour guide. It was an hour of education from a knowledgeable and entertaining tour guide. We had visited Oxford the day before and done the βcity bus tourβ which I would recommend as both tours work great alongside each other.
This tour was a great value. It included a 90 minute outside walking tour of the college with Andy the Hat. Very knowledgeable and interesting! On the bus we enjoyed the stories, comedy and poetry of our guide Dave Dalton
We arrived in Oxford on a coach tour, having travelled 3 hours from the Isle of Wight. On arrival in Oxford, we found several roads closed because there was a marathon event, of which we were not informed prior to booking the tickets. We had hoped to decide on our walking route based on a bus tour to see the places of interest. But I had no intention of paying for the tour when it was reduced considerably. We were advised that the roads would be open again at 4pm - this was useless to us, as we had to leave at 4.15pm. So I cannot give a good review, in this case. It is now 3 days since the visit and although TripAdvisor have said our ticket costs would be refunded, I have not seen it yet.
Martin our guide was lovely really friendly and very knowledgeable. Great way to get your bearings ,and where to see first
The hop-on hop-off service is very convenient with a highly informative bus guide. We also went for the optional walking tour around the city centre which was excellent. Our tour guide. Peter, was very friendly and told us many stories about the colleges' history and gave us recommendations on what to do in Oxford. Would highly recommend this experience for it's value for money and incredible guides
Convenient service, and our bus also had ann energetic, friendly and knowledgeable live guide.
My wife and I have used the Hop on Hop off bus service on other trips but this one was exceptional! On our first round we enjoyed a private guide who was very knowledgeable. Much better than the standard pre-recorded audio guide. On a subsequent round I mistakenly lefty backpack on the bus. A ticket sales person suggested that we call the Oxford office. I did and a message went out to all the drivers to look for the backpack. We boarded the next bus and the driver "Linda" brilliantly worked out the details for us to recover our backpack. She suggested that we walk to a nearby stop and the next bus will be the one with our bag. We did and we recovered it! Thank you driver Linda! And thank you City Sightseeing tours for having such an excellent system in place!
Gives a good overview of the city, was out of sync a few times. Could give more background/stories.
Good value for money. Lovely trip round an amazing city. Andy the Hat was a great narrator and clearly knew Oxford and gave us lots of information.
Recommend 24 hour hop on/off bus for taster of the sights of Oxford. The choice of hopping on and off over 18 stops makes it a great idea and great value with an hour's walking tour included. Our walking tour guide, Estef was very knowledgeable and delightful sharing some amusing facts as well as enlightening us with the history of the City. Thoroughly recommend.
Walking tour with graham - highly recommend, extremely knowledgeable and friendly
This city sightseeing bus is the best way to see the City The route is great and with the earphones provided you can listen to a very informative audio commentary. Being able to hop on and hop off at any stop gives you freedom to explore. Good value for money and most suitable for any age especially the over 70βs !
I decided to do the tour on a lovely day with friends from Scotland and my husband. Greg was our tour guide and he was excellent, very knowledgeable, funny and helpful. The tour is an excellent value for money plus you can hop on at the station which is very handy. It is useful to do the whole tour then decide where you would like to revisit. Oxford was busy due to graduations. A great way to see the city.
We spent Saturday morning on the open top bus. We got on at the high street. Which was super easy. And enjoyed tune whole hours tour. Making notes of places that we wanted to visit during our stay . The guide - Lesley - was BRILLIANT. Loads of local knowledge. Lots of advice as to where to visit, included museums l, booke houses, pubs and stately homes. She also added a nice personal touch by giving an opinion on what was with visiting. Bus was clean and we were all given head phones . Would Highly recommend
Fantastic day out. I have lived locally for many years and I still learnt loads and got to see the best of Oxford. Lesley was fabulous, natural, informative and very friendly. I highly recommend.
I had a wonderful experience with the City Sightseeing Bus in Oxford! Our guide GREG was knowledgeable, friendly, and incredibly attentive, making the tour both interesting and enjoyable. The explanations brought Oxfordβs history and landmarks to life, and the personal attention made me feel very welcome. I highly recommend this tour π
A fun and enjoyable experience - I ended up walking around the city more than using it. However, I did do the live guide bus for a full route and it was very fun, enjoyable and informative - it also sounds like a walking tour was also included
Walking tour was great! We did the one hour walking tour (included in the price of the hop on hop off bus tour) with Penny and she was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Was better value and more interesting than the bus tour with the pre recorded commentary. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
The hop on hop off bus tour was great with lots of information being provided along the way. We also went on the walking tour with Jeremy which was both informative & entertaining
Toured with Debbie today, she is awesome !!!! We talked before the tour, if you want to know about Oxford book this tour, best guide we have ever had π
Linda the bus tour guide was excellent. She gave us lots of information and help. Was extremely polite and understanding. She has lots of patience with everyone and so helpful.
We weren't sure exactly where to pick up the bus so it would be helpful to get better instructions on that. Also, it doesn't start until 9:30am from the train station. However, it's a wonderful way to see the town. It has ear buds and you can listen to a recording of various sites as you pass them. In the afternoon we actually had a live guide talking to us and that was even better. Definitely recommend!
We did the bus tour and hopped off to do the walking tour with Chris. So glad we did because Chrisβs knowledge, pace, wit and perfectly placed anecdotes made the whole experience vey worthwhile. Thank you Chris!
First class experience touring Oxford. Informative and interesting. Martin, the tour guide, was outstanding. Would highly recommend.
They should include less music from the audio guide and more stories. There was so much more they could say. And it should line up with what youβre actually seeing.
Brilliant experience yesterday. Got off the train straight on to a bus with a live tour guide Andy The Hat. The tour was excellent and Andy was brilliant very knowledgeable funny and kept up his pace throughout the tour.We stayed on for the whole tour just to listen to him.
Excellent introduction to Oxford and the included walking tour with Lesley was informative and entertaining
Fun & informative tour provided by Jack today. Learned a lot even though we live in Oxford - would recommend!
Guides (Greg, Katherine) were good - friendly, interactive
Okay tour. Easy to buy through Viator. Only one hour, could have walked most of it. Information a bit general.
Great tour,we hopped on and off several times,on the third occasions Martin was a great and informative tour guide, pointing out things that you wouldn't get to hear on the provided headphones. We saw many of the tourist sites ,and the open too bus was great as the weather was quite nice. There was no rushing around it was at a good pace. I would have no hesitation in recommending this tour. You also get the walking tour in with the price should you wish to go onto that particular walk . Good value for money.
We did both the bus and walking tour. Being able to see much from the bus was a little limited because of the rain but we still got a good feeling for the city. The walking tour was fantastic and great value being packaged with the bus. Jasmin was a friendly, knowledgeable and helpful guide who really helped us get an understanding of the history of the city and how the university colleges operate. Honestly, the walking tour was worth the price in of itself, rather than being the add on. We also really appreciated that both the bus and the walk were dog friendly! Highly recommend this tour.
Jack, whom only works Wednesday apparently had history and facts about the people of the colleges/university as well as famous politicians and others who made a difference. The history lesson was amazing. Thank you Jack
Dave Dalton was our guide for the aforementioned tour of Oxford. Dave gave us an unforgettable tour that fully furnished us with all the necessary information that we needed. It made our tour very enjoyable. Dave made sure we were safe and happy with the route and answered all our questions comprehensively and with a passion that is rarely seen. Outstanding work Dave. Thank you from Pete and Fran from Plymouth
Great little experience. Bus driver very helpful and funny. The commentary was very informative . Good being able to stay on if you missed anything the first time around. A short walking tour was included which we picked up at the Walking tour centre (just ask the bus driver if youβre not sure where it is) Our guide Lesley was very knowledgeable and funny, answered any questions we had. We were only a small group of 3 π Great afternoon and luckily lovely weather too. Would definitely recommend this activity
Enjoyed the hop on hop off bus tour for an afternoon in Oxford with a good audio guide with interesting history. Also enjoyed the free walking tour included which we did the next morning.
Great experience overall! The audioguide was interesting in most parts, the bus was always on time and we could change seats accordingly depending on the weather As the main streets are all within a 5 blocks radium, I recommend doing the whole tour and getting down on the stops near them, to get lost in those streets. Shan assisted us greatly when deciding what plan to choose. He helped us get the best based on what we needed at the moment, was super kind and patient. It didn't go unnoticed that he didn't just want to sell you something but to give the best advice and ideas for your situation. And Anoy guided us during the tour, with fun anecdotes and facts. It was really life saving when the audioguide was a bit delayed (due to traffic or sth), and he continued the guide smoothly, so we could really enjoy our time in spite of it.
The hop on hop off bus is EXCELLENT. Recommend the 2 day pass so that you can do the whole loop first and get an overview of the route and thatβs on it. Second day hop on and off. The only reason I took off one star is because our booking included a river cruise. We could barely hear nor u destined the announcements. The river is short with only crew boat houses to see. The lock was closed so never went past that. Very short and was a waste of time and money. Skip the cruise.
We were a large group but the guy selling the tickets took time to work out the best discount for us, student, seniors etc, much appreciated. Thoroughly enjoyed the bus tour with live running commentary and we finished with the walking tour. Lesley, our walking tour guide, was both informative and forthcoming with humourous facts, it was a joy from start to finish. More like a walk with a friend than a history lesson.
Had a great experience and Greg the guide was great- very friendly & knowledgeable
Nice wee trip round Oxford city centre Lots of interesting facts about Oxford and the university. We got the bus outside the Westgate mall, given ear plugs and map with info about the stops. Got the bus into Oxford from Peartree Park and Ride and we got off at Westgate and the tour bus stops there, perfect location to go to. Would recommend
Our Guide GREG was excellent and very knowledgeable and informative.
My Mother and I used the Oxford Sightseeing Bus Tour late morning of Monday 24th August 2026. We both want to shout to βAndy the Hatβ our Tour Bus Guide for his fabulous witty poems and wide knowledge of Oxfords historical facts. Also huge shout to our Bus Driver, we didnβt get his name. Down to earth, cheerful bloke who signposted us to the Turf Tavern. Fantastic recommendation and I tipped my pint to him in thanks for the recommendation and directions. We look forward to welcoming you back to Chester anytime. Cheers, Nic and Diane Xx
