I did a return journey, so also Gatwick to Oxford, both journeys were fabulous, however the return journey with Jake the hilarious driver was outstanding. A professional, pleasant and funny young man who made the journey so much fun with his announcements, he is an asset to the Oxford Bus Company, thank you Jake
Wish I'd used this service before. First time experience and found it to be perfect. Bang on time both journeys, great value for money. Will be back
Absolutely appalling service. We were standing exactly where we were supposed to be at the Heathrow Central Bus Station, well ahead of schedule, yet the driver for the service to Gatwick didn't even stop to board us. We were visible and waiting, but the service completely ignored the stand, leaving us stranded and forced to find alternative transport at the last minute. This is incredibly unprofessional and has caused a massive delay in our journey. Avoid this service if you actually need to get to Gatwick on time. Total lack of accountability.
I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the outstanding service provided by Jake during my journey on the X80 service from Heathrow Terminal 5 to Gatwick Airport. Jake demonstrated exceptional professionalism throughout the journey. His safety and route announcements were clear, informative, and delivered with confidence. He created a welcoming and positive atmosphere on board, showing genuine happiness in his role and towards the passengers. What truly stood out was Jake’s warm, friendly, and uplifting personality. His calm and reassuring voice brought comfort during what had been a difficult day for me. His positive energy genuinely brightened my journey and made a meaningful difference. Jake is an excellent ambassador for your company, and his dedication and attitude deserve recognition!
Since Covid, the Oxford–Gatwick service has become very long and unreliable. All buses now stop at High Wycombe and Heathrow terminals, which makes the journey to Gatwick unnecessarily slow. Before, there used to be direct services from Oxford to Gatwick with no stops, which were much more convenient. It feels as if services to High Wycombe and Heathrow have been prioritised while Gatwick passengers are left with a difficult and time-consuming journey. Could the company consider re-introducing at least a few direct Oxford–Gatwick buses during the day? This would greatly improve the service for many travellers.
Right from the get go our bus driver (09:30 bus 11th June) was extremely chirpy. In fact, my eldest daughter remarked that the bus drivers in Spain are grumpy and bad tempered in comparison. The bus driver (whose name I did not get) worked very hard to make himself understood in English to a couple of Italians. So all praise to the bus driver. The journey was timely, the bus was clean. All in all I would thoroughly recommend this service.
Our bus driver Jake was the most charming, cheery chap you ever could've met ! Brilliant, comfy, seamless commute to the airport. Grab yourself a seat and get to where you need to go !
Had the pleasure of being dropped off from oxford to gatwick i took the 04:30 am thkis morning 06/06/25.. The driver is one of the nicest coach drivers ive ever had the pleasure of travelling with. He was absolutely brillant smooth and skilful
The bus delayed for more than one hour and no one has given us any information. The live billboard went crazy from 10 mins-20 again 5 then 25 afterwards disappeared. The people at Thornhill park and ride panicked. As my flight was at 9 I’ve left home at 3 so becuse if unprofessional and carelessness of The Airline I missed my flight and as a result I have lost my job.
This bus company is an absolute mess. Terrible service and unreliable. Three consecutive buses didn't come for over an hour. The bus was slow despite it being a Sunday morning without traffic -- I do not want to imagine on a regular day with traffic. Arrived at the airport 1hr before my flight because buses were just delayed (or rather simply put CANCELLED) and the bus lingered on at Heathrow. Go with National Express, extremely reliable and on time.
Terrible service! The bus was delayed over 30 mins which is very stressful when you are catching an international flight. In the meantime I tried to call the company and despite trying several times and queuing up they never picked up my call. Dire and disrespectful customer service.
I have been using this coach service for 22+ years. The coaches are comfortable and I've always been grateful for how regularly this service runs (although it would be great if there could be a direct service to Gatwick without having to go to Heathrow first). What has always disappointed me is how difficult and grumpy some of the drivers can be. I've travelled on this service countless times and 90% of the time encountered a rude or grumpy driver. Sometimes aimed at me, sometimes I've been a witness to it. On 27th July at 7.30am I got the coach to Gatwick. As usual with this service I braced myself, was this going to be a good day or a bad day for the driver?! I have to commend the driver, it was a 3+ hour trip, lots of suitcases and people asking a lot of questions and I have to admit I was surprised that he was keeping his cool and his patience. But then we arrived at Gatwick North and a poor unknowing soul asked if the coach was going to Oxford. The driver completely lost his cool with this woman (it was not going to Oxford, it was going to Gatwick South after which he was having his lunch). I understand it must be frustrating for the drivers to constantly be fielding questions, half of which must seem silly. On my way to the airport these behaviours don't tend to bother me. I let it go, I'm excited about my holiday. But after being away and enjoying the kind and helpful hospitality of other nations I can't help but wonder what those visiting us must think of us. I'm proud of being from Oxford. I think we have a lot to offer, but when people arrive at the airport and the first real interaction they have is of a snappy, grumpy and rude coach driver- what impression does that leave for what is otherwise a welcoming place to visit?! This is a long review but it's 22 years worth of feedback. I'm grateful to all the drivers who have driven and safely brought be to and from the airports. But some consideration into behaviour needs to be made. If nothing nice can be said, maybe say nothing at all?
Previously we've taken our car to the airport, and worried about damage whilst we're away. This time we used The Airline. Excellent, easy, luxury service. Great coach driver. Will definitely use them again.
I have used this bus múltiple times as there is no much choice to travel from Oxford to Gatwick . In the past it ran directly to and from Gatwick but these days it goes through Heathrow first making the journey much longer. The price is extorsionate and keeps going up. WiFi works on and off or does not work at all and the toilet is often dirty.
I have travelled with this company before & today I had the same experience as last time Speedy & comfortable ride but No WiFi!
Prompt and comfortable transfer at a great price of £15 one way. Coach was in great condition, not too busy and also had a toilet. The journey was direct from LHR T5 to LGW South
We hadn’t realised the journey from Oxford to Gatwick is now 3 hours long as the coach now stops at H Wycombe, Lewknor and Heathrow. Won’t use again as just too long a journey.
Driver on bus 32 was excellent. He managed difficult queues of distressed people with patience kindness and understanding on a rail strike day….and got us back safely.
A superb service. So relaxing, on time, you can charge your phone and very helpful driver. I haven't taken this route for ages, and it's only improved.
Travelling to Gatwick has become a real pain. Due to the number of stops they have added to the service, the coaches are often late and duration of the journey has increased significantly. The fares are still at a premium service level, for what is now far from being one.
I had originally booked a return ticket with another company from Gatwick to Oxford. Our journey from Gatwick was delyed by 1 1/2 hours, due to accidents on the motorways! I decided therefore , to travel back at an earlier time.Thi scompany, although I had not booked with them, let me ride on one of their earler coaches ! That's what I call service...WELL DONE !!!
Really pleasant friendly and obliging driver today 8.30 from Gloucester green to Gatwick. Please be aware the coach goes to Heathrow on the way which can add an hour or more to your journey. I don't think you are made aware of this until you wait for the bus!!
This bus journey was an appalling example of a monopoly exploiting its customers. Our journey was unnecessarily long for the amount of money we paid. Better to take the train. I arrived at Gatwick North from Pisa at 3.30 (at bus stops) on Friday 22 July with my wife. We expected to be able to get a bus within 20-30 minutes. In fact, we had to wait 45 mins because the service had been reduced to every hour. The bus departed at 4.20 pm. It used to be more frequent (have used the service for more than 15 years). We paid £28 each for a single - not cheap for a coach journey of 75 miles. I expected a journey of around 1 hr 45, may be 2 hours with traffic. We came off the M25. I thought this was to avoid traffic. In fact it was to go to Heathrow Terms 2&3, and then Terminal 5. These stops added 30 minutes to our journey. This NEVER used to occur as there was a separate bus to Heathrow. There is a very significant number of passengers who travel from Oxford to the two airports so all buses have high occupancy rates and separate buses are justified. From Heathrow we then took the M4 because we were now in the height of rush hour. We then made a stop at High Wycombe - another route modification/delay to the operator's benefit. A nonesense stop at Lewknor.... We finally arrived at Oxford Bus Station at 8.00 In future I would strongly recommend taking the train, not the Airline coach, either via Reading, or via London as I shall do on Monday when I return to Gatwick. I think Oxford City Council and Oxford Members of Parliament should investigate the current arrangements which are detrimental to Oxford's tourist and trade activity. They arise because there is no competition for the route.
It was a terrible experience!!! It was Saturday morning 6.35am 25.06.2022, I’ve steps in to the queue on to the Airline bus from Oxford to Gatwick. I’ve showed my e-ticket to bus driver and he told me it’s not the right bus service for my ticket. At the beginning I thought that he was right and I have to wait for another bus, but later I found that it was my bus. With help of National Express team I’ve managed to get to Gatwick, but with delay of two hours…
Picked up from Heathrow 40 minutes late (operator should appreciate airport shuttles are time-critical?) Customer service predictably gave the "nothing I can do" script. When short-sighted driver does come, he complains I didn't stick my arm out early enough. Will remember to bring my flair next time...
Discovered by chance, such a great value for money as well as a very pleasant journey and a nice driver. We will be using this service in the future.
I want to thank the driver for being so helpful and kind as I was going to pick up my daughter from Gatwick and her plane was running late the bus driver was prepared to wait an extra 5 minutes so we didn't have to wait 2 hours for the next one thank you so much for being so kind
Excellent Service, very clean, modern bus, every seat equipped with a seat belt, clean and functional facilities. Serene and relaxing journey, as well as on time. Good, well done👍
The Oxford- Gatwick line should actually be called Oxford- Heathrow- Gatwick. Travel through various Heathrow terminals before heading to Gatwick, which means you have to calculate a minimum of 3 hours to make the journey. And that, if there are no traffic jams depending on the time. The very scarce periodicity: four hours to the next. It is highly recommended to look for an alternative to The Airline which would allow you to make the journey Oxford - Gatwick direct. I wish I had.
