Don’t waste your time on this hotel. It is wildly overpriced, and yet still not even nice. When you arrive there isn’t anyone at the reception. I have been going to this hotel for a while now and have never seen any staff there. They fine you a ludicrous amount if you are one minute late checking out. On one occasion I used one of the bowls that the kitchen comes equipped with, and they said I had to return it within the next hour! I did, of course, and they were extremely hostile - fined me for it and banned me from ever going back. It was frankly rude and I would definitely not be going back, even if I could. Do not go to this hotel if you don’t want extremely rude staff, hostile treatment and poor service.
Not a hotel :) more like an automated air bnb with lovely rooms.
Pros: clean comfy room, quiet and firm mattress. Stone throw from town square, lovely gardens (open to public)
Cons: Check-in is a boarding pass-esc computer, room is not made up for a 2 night stay. So make those 4 sachets of milk stretch :)
We had the pleasure of staying at Old Abbey House when we came to visit our son. Our suite was so charming and the view of the garden from our room was beautiful. Service was top notch. I received an email everyday from the staff to make sure everything related to our stay was perfect - it was. Location was ideal - just a few steps from town center. The room and hotel was quite peaceful! I would not hesitate to stay here in the future! It is truly a hidden gem!
We stayed here over our wedding weekend and it was amazing! From the very first enquiry, Keira was so helpful and arranged lots of lovely finishing touches which we are so grateful for. All the rooms we booked were excellent, very spacious and lovely views over the Abbey gardens. Will definitely be returning, especially for our anniversaries!
This was my second stay at the Old Abbey House Hotel, coincidentally, in the same room as previously. Nicely appointed room, comfortable, has its own heating thermostat so you can have the room at your preferred temperature and spotlessly clean. Hard to put a score for service as it’s a fully automated check in so didn’t actually interact with any staff at all.
Ticks all the boxes regarding location and nearby facilities within walking distance. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
