Malmaison Cheltenham

Attended a family event here as a guest. We were in a private space, perfect for the 25 or so people in our party. Staff were polite, attentive and hospitable. I would certainly consider Malmaison as a venue in the future.

This was our second visit. A few hiccups. Air con in the room poor, we did report it. The car park barrier wasn’t working and I was a little anxious leaving our new car over night, please note it was fixed by the morning. Reception was functional But I couldn’t honestly say that they were friendly and made me feel welcome. The ground floor room we were in had a lovely Bay window, Which looked out onto some low hedging and the pavement outside, which was fine, But it did require some sort of window dressing to give us privacy in the daytime. The lunchtime bar snacks were lovely and staff friendly. The artwork in the hotel is worth a look. Hope this is seen as a fair and helpful post

Fabulous location, wondeful staff, excellent food...so why are the bedrooms so disappointing? Having no issue with the size of a cosy double the issue is the decor, I honestly felt I'd walked into a Holiday Inn Express with broken air conditioning. The bathroom and shower were on brand, the room was clean, bed comfortable but the price for decor of this standard does not reflect value for money.

Beware if you book a cosy bedroom. It's very small and tight and thus very expensive for what you get. We had to sit on the toilet to then be able to open the shower door to get into the shower. There was no light above the bathroom mirror which would have been useful in a completely enclosed tiny ensuite with no window. The breakfast was nice but eggs and avocado is not actually sliced fresh avocado, rather it's a very sour guacamole which was annoying as it's not stated on the menu that it was that. Apart from that the staff are lovely and helpful and it's in a good spot. EDIT - Following response from hotel yes, that is my point. You do not provide square footage on your site for each room size. So my review is based on that and the fact that I feel it is expensive for what you get. My work book me my hotels and I will feed back on this and on your response.
