Hard to find stop near opera house….. it was nice to see the city, however, our bus driver didn’t make the scheduled stops (he didn’t speak very good English) and when we wanted to get off at 9 or 10 we were back at 12 - he said he must have missed the stops. Cost us a $30 uber back to hotel…. Wasn’t happy especially waiting in pouring rain for the car to arrive. I would assume from his humorous attitude it happens often.

I definitely recommend it. It makes visiting Oslo’s attractions much easier, and the buses arrived on time. It was a rainy day, but I still really enjoyed the experience. Carla was very helpful and answered all my questions
Great way to see the City, especially if you only have a day. Picked us up from the cruise terminal and dropped us back there. Just perfect. After visiting the fort we just missed the bus and we were amazed when the driver stopped to pick after we waived at him. That would not happen in the UK.
Helpful specially if passenger has difficulty with long distance walking. Doing the hop on hop off will cover Areas of interest
Great ride! Bus took us all through the city allowing us to see the sights we wanted. Although somewhat crowded, it was well worth the opportunity.
Loved Fram Museum. Easy to read map and audio was great. Pick up location convenient to cruise ship.
Good route but uncomfortable seats with few options for those with mobility restrictions as steps to upper level are very steep and most lower level seats require a step to access. Commentary is interesting but not often well timed with what you see. Bus driver and ticket collector were engaged in a very long and loud conversation throughout the entire trip. Don't know how the driver could concentrate on driving in the traffic while talking the whole time.
Good way to travel around city. Easy to find stops. Commentary could have been better. Doesn’t always match up with where you are at on the tour.
We were dropped off at stop 6 in Oslo in front of the Kon-Tiki Ra museum. At 1:30 we were at the place where we were dropped off with approximately 10 others, when the bus just drove past us even though we were all waving our hands for him to stop. This will be the last time I take a Greyline Hop On Hop Off. I am sure that there at least ten others that feel the same.
We always like to do a hop on hop off bus tour when visiting a new place. This was a nice clean modern bus and as it has been raining a tarpaulin roof was in place. We got confused with the finish times and found ourselves not at the nearest stop to our accommodation, something to do with the peak period timings stopping and wasn't a problem but something to look out for. Booking was easy and the bus/stop was easy to find and where expected.
We picked up the bus at the cruise port being able to bring our luggage on board which was convenient. However the bags were not secured in any way and at one point they were rolling down the aisle and still the driver did nothing. We were able to use a short cord to tie ours in but another lady had to take her bag to a seat. This was not only inconvenient but dangerous. This driver seemed only interested in getting aroud the route as fast as possible and was often way ahead of the audio guide. He accelerated and brakes very hard so you were actually holding on so as to not get thrown out oh your seat. When we got back on a bus later in the day it was a much better experience. We found the audio guide good and enjoyed the selected stops.
No pick up or stop at Azamara cruise port as advertised. You have to walk @ a mile to Stop #1 to board. Most drivers do not announce stops. Have to have ear buds on. Most drivers do not announce long stops, breaks.
I was staying in Oslo for a week and got to know it very well on foot. The city isn’t that big and a majority of the attractions on this tour were all in walking distance for me. The only exception was the Sculpture Park and a few museums such as the Folk, Kim Tiki and Fram. The entire tour was 75 minutes with a couple of stops at ports and that brought it down to just under an hour. If you can walk around save yourself time and money, and use the number 30 bus for the museums I mentioned earlier in my review.
Hop on Hop off bus in Oslo, Norway. We were looking for more help with directing how the buses worked and wait time for the busses. No one seemed to want to help. Just drop and run. Also with 6 cruise lines in at the same time the company should have been more prepared for the larger crowd. No markings at the cruise terminal showing where to line up. At least one of the workers was friendly.
We really enjoyed our tour of Oslo on the hop-on hop- off bus tour! We learned about the major attractions and were able to see many of them, especially the Frogner park and Vigeland statues and fountains, and the opera center and munch museum. We really loved our experience in Oslo!
Hop on Hop off was very comfortable with a good route, until the end of the day when the bus was very off schedule. We had to leave the bus and pay for a taxi back to the port. First they waited 10 minutes for a passenger to use the restroom and then waited at a stop for a second bus to come to consolidate passengers which ended up putting us behind schedule by 25 minutes. The driver neither spoke or understood English. Would not recommend if coming from a cruise ship.
This was a very poor experience. Wanted to learn something about the sights after two days already walking in Oslo but the AI commentary was terrible (inane, irrelevant, disjointed) made worse by synching errors ie the bus just wasn't in the right place for the commentary. Didn't need to be told three times during the round trip that the tacky souvenir shop at the cruise terminal is the biggest in the country. Avoid this tour!!
There are two providers of hop on hop off in Oslo. Take the other one. There was a running event in Oslo and by order of the police the stepping place next to the Oslo opera building had been moved. The bus company couldn't do anything about that. However, we were sent in the wrong direction by an employee to the Strandgata and there was no boarding place. We walked like the card provided to an earlier boarding point, point 9, but that was a few kilometres walk. I tried to stop a bus twice but even though it was already standing still it wouldn't open the door. This company has poorly indicated where the boarding places are and there is certainly no employee to help you. An employee of the competitor has thought better and has indicated the right direction. So for the sake of brevity, take the hop on hop off in Oslo, but not with this company, you walk more than you drive.
Poor service overall. There were too many customers and not enough buses provided. This led to long waits at each stop. Ticket was purchased at 0949hrs from stop 9 and we got on the bus and left shortly after that. Driver then DID NOT stop at the Fortress which was one of the stops we were very interested in. He simply drove past the stop without stopping. The first stop he stopped at was outside the Opera House. Bus stop 1 was disorganized as despite the stop location being changed the staff did not maintain the order of the line and some customers jumped the line and entered through the middle doors which led to people in the line missing the bus which was unfair. Long wait at bus stop 3 at the Sculpture Park at about 1250hrs. We waited in line for about 20-25 minutes and only one bus showed up which was almost full and we were about 20-30 people back in the line. As we had a cruise ship to get back to and there were limited buses showing up we made the decision to get a taxi at our expense (445 NOK). We did speak to staff on our arrival back at the cruise terminal and were advised to e-mail our concerns. We were informed that the problem was too many people were getting on/off at stop 1 and 3 however in my opinion there were too many tickets sold and not enough buses. All of the buses we took were totally full and it was not a relaxing or enjoyable experience. I was very disappointed with the service and felt that it was slow, disorganized and unreliable. A refund request was placed on the company website on the day of the trip and no communication or refund has been received as of nearly 3 weeks later.
2 persons we were charged kr1000 instead of kr 902,06 BE CAREFUL. There is a token with kr code. Unfortunately my husband was in a hurry to catch the bus and a guy outside with red jacket written Gray line charged almost kr100 more. Disgusting
The young man and woman at the initial stop were fabulous. Held the bus a few minutes for our companion. History/info re to Oslo/Norway was decent but not as comprehensive as I would have liked. Good overview of city.
The salesman lied about the exchange rate, so the price was much higher than expected. The bus has QR codes with TripAdvisor's logo, but it leads to a fake review site.
Not great if you are wanting to use this as a tour as ear phone to listen to and speakers system had a lot of interference. However this tour is perfect to take you to a lot of interesting places. Highly recommend the sculpture garden at Frogner Park and Norwegian Folk Museum. So much to see and enjoy
My wife and I found the Oslo Hop-On /Hop-Off bas a great way to get around the city. The round trip was approx. 75 minutes, so you weren't stuck on the bus for a long time. It went to a number of Oslo's major tourist attractions, so it was a great way to travel between them
Tour was fine. Wifi didnt work but didnt matter to me since I have an international data plan. Bus was clean, headphones provided for audio tour. Bus personnel friendly and helpful
Good introduction to the city with lots of stops at important sites. Would be a little better if we could have used our voucher without having to have it confirmed at their kiosk but overall enjoyed.
The audio guide for the tour is pretty good, but the thought of hopping on and off to see various things is not really feasible if you’re trying to get to more than one location in a day. So considering all that, you might wanna consider a private narrated tour and then just take the city buses in Metro around the various locations if you can figure that out. They’re also very busy the day we went in February and the first bus that stopped at the one stop we wanted again I was full and we had to wait for the next bus. But we decided to walk to the next stop and essentially just met the bus there so all we did was get but still lost 25 minutes.
I used the HopOn HopOff bus in Oslo and had a good experience. I got off at stop 2 to visit the park (Vigeland Sculpture Park), which is definitely worth a walk, and then continued the tour without any issues. It’s a convenient way to see the city at your own pace.
My partner and I did the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour in Oslo and had a really great experience. It was such an easy and relaxing way to see the city together without worrying about transportation. The buses were comfortable, ran on time, and the audio guide was interesting and clear.
It’s a very convenient way to explore the city at your own pace — you can hop off wherever you like, take photos, enjoy the sights, and then continue the route whenever you’re ready. The buses were punctual, comfortable, and offered great views, and the audio guide in English was informative and easy to follow.
Worth the value as you can hop on and off anytime. Firstly take the whole ride around then get off at the places you want to see better
What a great tour driver was fantastic harley recommend this to anyone take in so much of the city and out of it
We caught the first bus, it arrived on time, as did subsequent buses later on. Despite some negative reviews, we found the experience enjoyable and the headsets worked fine in each bus. Commentary was adequate & informative although the route was not as interesting as many other cities - perhaps that's just Oslo? Our buses were uncrowded so seating was no problem. Tickets were cheaper when bought through the app & Viator reward points reduced the cost even further.
Wasted over 1 hr while staff got coffee. Use the other provider in Oslo. There was no communication as we stopped for over 40 minutes.
The bus allowed us to see things in Oslo we otherwise would have to hire taxis. It was money well spent for us.
to start your tour in a city with hop on hop off gives you a tour guide where to go in the next following days I learned that visiting the museum peninsula is worthed.
it was 100% what one can expect from a hop on hop off tour, clear audioguide, good drop off/pick up points
Awesome would highly recommend this as it was cheaper on line as well. Great way to see the city. Amazing.
Driver was more careful with pedestrians than any other hop on/off tour I’ve been on (Riga, Tallinn, Helsinki, Copenhagen, London, NYC). But when the end of day team put the tent and the cart on the bus, they did not secure any of the items and at the first turn, the large tent frame fell and almost hit the small child sitting next to me. I had to get up and place it more securely. The driver didn’t say anything when asked for help and when the family with the child got off the bus, they spoke with the person who sold them their ticket but it didn’t seem like they got any response (I ran into them again at the holiday market).
Really informative tour, a good route. We loved it . Bus was comfortable and took us to all the stops we needed
We did not get a QR code so they were not able to issue us a ticket so we were rejected @ the bus I demand that you should refund my money back
The Wi-Fi did not work despite posted signs. The narrative was informative. Waiting for the next bus was frustrating. Three buses didn’t stop.
This isn’t a cheap way to travel around Oslo, but it is well worth doing on your first day there. You can get your bearings, and see several attractions in one day, using your ticket. There is a commentary in English, but it is a little out of date, so you need to make allowance for that. You can get on and off as many times as you like.
Emilie was an excellent and very knowledgable guide. Recommend this tour even in the rain. Learned lots about Oslo
Please avoid this company / we do these tours in many places and this is our worst experience yet ! The first bus driver was an absolute maniac so we forbid and caught the next bus . Better driver but the audio didn’t work and when we advised the driver she did. Not care at all !! Avoid avoid avoid !!!
We took this and did the 1.5 hr loop. Audio worked majority of time. We got off at the palace and then got back on to head to Reigland Park. Audio wasn't working. When we disembarked we told the bus driver who said he would reset it. We only spent 30 minutes at the park with the plan to catch the next bus so we coukd visit another stop. We waited an hour with no bus. Competitor's bus came by twice. When the bus finally arrived it was the same driver who had dropped us off. His excuse was traffic but since competitor's bus had come by twice, we didnt buy that. There were two times listed on the schedule that no bus showed up for. And the Audio came and went. Very disappointing as at this point we didn't have time to visit one of the stops we had hoped to. Would use public transportation next time.
A complete scam. The audio guide didn’t match what we were seeing at all, and the preset audio channels changed randomly. After paying a significant amount, we realized we had been misled, as the route could have easily been done on foot, and we had to wait more than 30 minutes between buses. The lack of kindness and the arrogance of the staff were striking, along with the overall disrespect towards tourists. At one of the stops, an employee of the company publicly confronted a passenger, accusing her for several minutes of underpaying, while the tourist insisted she had paid the correct amount. We were all left waiting while the employee tried to sort out her own incompetence. Even more, at one stop we had to wait till the driver was done with his phone scroll. Don’t fall for this company’s scam. It’s money thrown down the drain.
From start to finish, the tour was poorly organised and clearly prioritised profit over customer experience. There was a total lack of information from the staff, leaving passengers confused and uncertain throughout. We were made to change buses twice without explanation, causing further delays. The tour, which was supposed to last 1 hour and 15 minutes, ended up taking almost 2 1/2 hours due to long waiting times – including a pointless 15-minute stop in front of a row of overpriced souvenir shops clearly aimed at unsuspecting tourists. The audio commentary was equally poor. The system didn’t work for half the passengers, meaning many missed the guided tour altogether. Even when the audio did function, it was full of outdated information – seemingly unchanged since around 2019 – and failed to reflect current events or developments in the city. We’ve taken hop-on-hop-off buses in many cities, but this was by far the worst. What should have been an informative and enjoyable way to explore Oslo ended up being a frustrating waste of time and money.
Interesting tour through Oslo.
The guidance they give you through the audio is very good, in several languages, a very good tour. We enjoyed it a lot, easy to recognize, we made good use of our time
