Anni is a fabulous tour guide. Friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. I learned so much about Norwegian culture, history, and food! It was a crisp, sunny day. Some of the highlights included learning about the tiger statue’s history, walking through quaint neighborhoods, seeing community gardens, and of course eating delicious food. The fish soup was amazing. So was the smoked, pink trout. And waffle with brown cheese! I highly recommend this excursion.

Introduction and walk from the meeting point to the first restaurant.
We enjoy a creamy fish soup as a starter at a local seafood restaurant that has won awards for its soup. Alternatives are available for those who cannot eat fish soup.
We explore hidden gems and local favorite spots, including parks, viewpoints, old bridges, colorful wooden houses, street art, a river, and waterfalls. This part involves about 1 hour of walking and some steep hills, so you should be in decent physical shape and wear good shoes.
We enjoy the main course at a farm-to-table restaurant. Then we’ll take the tram back to the city center, close to where we started the tour.
Enjoy Norwegian waffels with brown cheese or cinnamon bun

Wonderful guide and wonderful food! Highly recommend.
Annie was a lovely and informative guide. We had three tastings that included a traditional waffle with brown cheese (from a street vendor), a fish soup (Fiskereit) and a charcuterie with smoked trout and moose salami from a quaint farm to table (Bonder I Byen). All the food was delicious.
I'm SO glad we did this tour. The food was great, but the walking tour and history were the highlight for me. Annie was an absolutely wonderful guide. This was our third walking tour of Oslo but it covered a completely different neighborhood where the factories were and where the wet district is now. We never would have seen this district if it wasn't for this tour.
We had a wonderful guide, Selia who was very knowledgeable about the city, and took us to several eating places to sample a variety of local foods. All excellent. We were a small group of 4, so easy to hear, and learn about the others. Ther is about 3 miles of walking with stops along the way, and some hills. All in all, a wonderful tour.
We enjoyed our afternoon with Annie, our guide, along with Todd and Daren, a small group. The waffles(first stop)then the fish soup were amazing! Another tasty stop was at a farm to table restaurant. We had plenty to eat! As we are here for a few more days we are going back for more! We strolled a bit up and down and all around to see many hidden gems in Oslo. Very interesting and very scenic. Annie is well versed in the history of Norway. This is a perfect way to get a taste of Norway plus some history. Book it!
Despite booking months in advance and receiving our voucher the day before no one turned up to lead the tour. We were left with one other couple waiting until it became clear no one was coming . We were not informed of a cancellation and wasted a lot of time waiting and trying to track down the tour company with no success. This is unacceptable customer service and very disappointing as we had only one day in Oslo. Cannot recommend this food tour and would suggest avoiding .
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this walking food tour of Oslo. We sampled some delicious food and visited some noteworthy spots of the city. While walking, our guide, Sjur, shared with us some of the little known facts about Oslo and its people. I would highly recommend this tour to experience Oslo in a different way.
A great way to experience a sampling of what the city of Oslo has to offer. The 3 food stops were delicious! First stop offered a very tasty fish soup. Next stop was a combination platter of fish and moose sausage sliced thinly along with local bakery bread. All locally sourced farm products. Last stop we had a delightful waffle with just the right amount of sweet taste. Our guide Annie also took us on a somewhat rigorous walk through the city to explore different areas where people lived and went to school. She was well informed and had a great sense of humor to make the tour an enjoyable experience.
We have a very lovely tour guide, my husband and I really enjoyed it. Highly recommended tour to take if 1st time visiting Oslo.
The tour Sunday afternoon with Anni was delightful, and felt special as only another participant and I were present. The three samplings of Norwegian food were delicious, and the venues eclectic and fun. Anni shared a great deal of history and information during our 3 hours together. I would strongly recommend Anni and this tour to anyone
Annie was an excellent guide knowledgeable and good humoured! We walked around neighbourhoods that we probably wouldn’t haven’t found on our own. Food we had was lovely. Price of tour was quite expensive!
Great overview of traditional foods of Norway. Nice walk with historical commentary. Learned a lot and food was great. Annie was funny and a wealth of information. Thoroughly enjoyed.
The guide did not show up at the time listed on the Viator website. They claim they changed the time from that listed on the website and claim they notified me a month on advance. I have no record of notification on the date they said they sent. Nor do they have any confirmation I received the notification. Having not received confirmation, they made no effort to make sure I was informed of the change in time. Other guides have had no issues contacting me. We left after taking photos of a clock tower to confirm date and time. They want to charge me over $300.
We were very disappointed in the food part of the tour. We did one in Budapest through TripAdvisor and there is no comparison. The portions were small and disappointing. The waffle dessert was not good at all. Our guide was great.
Annie, our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastically shared her knowledge of Norway’s history and its food. She shared the information in a way that was interesting and fun. We walked through parts of Oslo I’m sure we wouldn’t have found on our own. The food stops were delicious, we tasted traditional Norwegian food in lovely locations. A great way to see Oslo.
Annie was a great guide - knowledgeable and very personable. Food choices were great (although would have loved more than three). Highly recommend!
Silje was awesome, loved getting the inside scoop on Norway. Come ready to walk, we move around the city a lot. I would have expected more food choices or options given the cost of this trip. This would be better described as a hidden gems only tour than a good one. Loved the tour guide and her excellent recommendations!
Lots of walking but Sjur did a great job. We learned a lot about the history of Oslo and Norway and sampled some great food!
my girlfriend and I did this food tour and it was amazing!! our tour guide (Mu Sjur) was a lovley guy, very smiley and happy to answer questions!! the food was tasty (the fish soup was my girlfriend's favourite!!), and the walk itself was beautiful- full of nature, rivers and hills. it is a good thing to do if you want to explore norway in a limited time (3/4 hrs)!!
Unfortunately, I had to cancel this tour a few hours before it began because I got sick. They very graciously refunded our entire cost.
This was a very fun tour. We had two tour guides and a group of about seven people, which allowed each tour guide to interact with all the guests individually throughout the tour. The meeting point was very easy to find, we stopped at three different food spots and walked around parts of the city that were off the beaten path. We went through the art district, saw historic buildings and churches as well as several small parks where locals hang out. The tour guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and the food was fresh and delicious!
Idunn was a very engaging guide and helped us explore Oslo, including some hidden gems we might not have found on our own. The city is very hilly, so be aware that this isn't an easy stroll. But the views and experience are well worth it!
This was a fun food tour with a guide, Sjur, who grew up in the area and loves to share Norwegian culture. We stopped at three restaurants where he shared delicious Norwegian dishes. We also got to see the more local side of Oslo and hear stories about how locals live. Just why are these Norwegians so dang happy? It was a lovely afternoon and the group was an interesting mix of travelers. Two thumbs up on this one!
Great tour, great food. Small, manageable group so you spend less time organizing and more time eating and touring. The food great too!
Great walking tour of hidden gems in the city. Second time for us in Oslo so we wanted to see new places. This tour provided a great and knowledgeable guide with good stories of oslo past and present. Food was right level of tasting but was stops that did not drag out the tour. Be prepared to walk and there are two good climbs but overall a great afternoon.
Great tour to see areas outside of the main tourist areas! The food was all really good and our tour guide was amazing!
Great way to see and hear about Oslo other than what tourist sites tell you. Great tastings of local food too. Loved moose salami! Annie was terrific with her stories and insights of Oslo’s and Norway’s cultures. Great choices of food venues too. Would have liked a coffee cafe as hear so much about them so for me that would have made the fifth star. Otherwise terrific and worthwhile tour.
If you're considering this tour, have the ability to walk about 2.5 miles in total, and want to have an experience off the beaten path, just do it. This was a wonderful tour! It was separated into three segments. A short walk, a long walk with about 3 or 4 steep hills, and another short walk. I'm not in great shape but I managed and, although I was often in the back, I never felt left behind or that I needed to rest more than everyone else. Our guide naturally stopped at many places along the walks to tell us stories and history that only the locals would know. My favorite was walking by the community garden because it smelled so good and was beautiful! The food places were quite tasty and it was neat to hear the history behind the food. There were a couple people with us that weren't fans of fish but still had enough to nibble on. The fact that the group is kept small provided space for some fun conversations while walking and at the food spots. This tour seemed to be a big highlight for everyone in my group's Oslo adventures. I highly recommend it.
We were lucky enough to be the only guests on the Tour which meant we had Selia as a private tour guide! She was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the area and Edvard Munsch which helped us immensely when we visited that Museum after the tour. She also showed us areas of Oslo that we wouldn't normally have seen, like a great Sunday arts and crafts market where we bought great gifts for home. The restaurants where we are fish soup, smoked trout and halloumi and brown cheese waffles were great choices. Lovely quality and thoroughly enjoyable. Selia was a lovely tour guide, we would highly recommend the tour and tour guide.
The tour involves a fair amount of walking but is a wonderful way to see Oslo more like a resident than a tourist. Our tour guide Idunn was very informative and fun to spend an afternoon with.
Idunn was a delightful guide - charming, knowledgeable and helpful, and speaks great English. We learnt all sorts of interesting facts, and the Norwegian food we tasted was fabulous. Highly recommend.
This was a great tour to get off the beaten path in Oslo and to experience some local food. Idun, our guide, was engaging and eagerly answered our questions. The small group allowed a pace that was relaxed and not pressured. The walk was a bit hilly at times, with steep streets, gravel paths and cobblestones, so physical ability and comfortable walking shoes are a must. And the food was amazing! It was sufficient enough for us to consider it lunch. Highly recommend if you like to get to know the locals and their food.
I would highly recommend this tour. Great host, fab stories around Oslo history, tasty food and a lovely walk around parts of Oslo we hadn't explored before.
This amazing small group food tour was more than a food experience. We toured some historic and hip neighborhoods and learned about the various areas we walked through. All of the selections for food were thoughtful and delicious. We walked from the center of town to Grünerløkka, with some really interesting stops along the way. I thought this was the perfect mix of food and great information from a very knowledgeable guide, Annie. If you don't want to walk very much, this is not the tour for you. You will walk for about 1 hour.
The whole experience was was very good and our guide was both funny and informative. The places that we stopped off for food were amazing especially the fish stew. All people on the tour were friendly and this enhanced the whole experience. If in Oslo I would definitely recommend this tour
This tour was chosen as it appealed to me by combining the ‘foodie’ element and learning about the Hidden Gems in Oslo. Annie was our guide and shared so much information with our small group. We did a lot of walking but saw some interesting locations, which a regular traveller may not see. Our food stops highlighted Norwegian food for sure. The fish soup was great and hearing the back story enhanced the experience. The tasting plate was delicious and eating cheese from the Royal Farm was special. Our waffle ‘street food’ was delicious and it was a great conclusion to the tour. Thanks Annie for a great experience yesterday! Highly recommend going on this tour when in Oslo.
Idunn was a wonderful guide! He knowledge of history and her art background allowed to understand more of our surroundings as we walked from place to place. She answered all of our questions and accommodated one fellow traveler who could not eat fish. She did not rush us as we went over our allotted time. I would absolutely recommend a tour with her.
Well worthwhile- shows you parts of the city you may miss. The guide added a lot of interesting facts and history to the city. She picked real interesting restaurants.
She was a great guide! Knowledgeable and great food!
Anne was a fantastic tour guide in Oslo. As Anne was a fantastic tour guide in Oslo. As we walked through the beautiful city, she shared wonderful folklore stories that made the experience so much more interesting. The food stops were excellent—fresh, delicious food and very welcoming restaurants with friendly people. Anne’s enthusiasm and storytelling made the tour truly special. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us off the beaten path. A lot of hidden gems. The food tasting was fantastic.
The entire tour was very good. We traveled to unique parts of the city and learned quite a bit about these areas. The food was quite delicious, however I was a bit disappointed that we only had three places to eat.
We loved our Oslo Hidden Gems and Food Tour with Idunn. She was friendly, approachable, funny and just lovely. Besides that she was knowledgeable and we learned so many interesting things about the city. It was lots of walking which we enjoyed and were able to get a feel for the city - even in cold winter weather. The fish soup was abslutely delicious, the lunch gave us a taste of a good variety of fresh Norwegian food, and the waffle and brown cheese was the perfect warm ending for a wonderful tour. Thank you Idunn and Oslo Nature! Paige & Dave Kerr
Annie was an excellent guide. She looked out for everyone and gave us lots of information about the city and its history. The food was delicious and we saw parts of the city I wouldn’t have gone too otherwise.
Lovely walk around Oslo with tasty meals. Guide was a good historian with lots of facts and stories about Oslo and general Norwegian culture.
We had a fun, entertaining and worthwhile experience with our guide, Annie. The tour was just the right blend of eating and walking. The food choices were delicious, and portion sizes were plenty for us to enjoy while not overstuffing us. We trekked through interesting neighborhoods, old, artsy, and beautiful. Annie was an engaging storyteller of Oslo lore.
Annie was a fabulous, knowledgeable guide. The itinerary was a perfect blend of walking the backstreets of Oslo and delicious food. Would highly recommend this excursion! Tassen Tack Annie, well done!!
Having done a few tours I would have appreciated a bit more about the food culture of Noway. That said it was a good tour. Knowledgeable and lovely guide and great food stops
Our family loved the experience. Annie took us to places that we would never have discovered otherwise. Bring water with you and wear comfy walking shoes as there will be some incline hills. It was the perfect number of people, and Annie is very engaging, easy to chat with and knows a lot about her food. As we went in winter during Christmas holiday, we had our lunch sitting around fire pit grilling sausages looking over the fjord. Lovely experience all in all.
