One of our favourite experiences in Norway! 🇳🇴 We had a wonderful time on this tour! The food was delicious, and tasting traditional Norwegian delicacies in such a beautiful forest setting made the experience truly special. Andras was a fantastic guide. His passion for Norwegian food and culture was infectious, and we loved hearing his stories and learning about traditions we would never have discovered otherwise. This was a unique experience and a lovely alternative to the usual tourist activities. Definitely go hungry—you’ll leave with a full belly and a big smile! We highly recommend it to anyone visiting Oslo. Thank you, Andras, for such a memorable day! ❤️

Itinerary
Step out of Oslo and into a world of authentic flavors, stories, and traditions. Just a 35-minute metro ride from the city center, this experience blends Norway’s nature, food, and culture into one unforgettable adventure. You’ll begin a relaxed forest walk, with your guide sharing insights into Norwegian culture, traditions, and Norway’s mountain gastronomy. Along the way, learn how nature and food are deeply connected in everyday life. We’ll stop at a scenic viewpoint (weather permitting) to enjoy a short break with beautiful views, photo opportunities, and a tasting of local food delicacies before continuing toward our camp spot.
Next, we reach our scenic forest camp. While your chef prepares a lovely mountain banquet, take a refreshing dip in a crystal-clear lake—the perfect summer cool-off before your forest feast is served! Gather around the cauldron while sampling wild Scandinavian meats, accompanied by drinks, anecdotes, and culinary stories.
Relax as your chef prepares fresh, traditional Norwegian waffles for you over the flames – topped with traditional favorites like sweet brown cheese (brunost).

I went with a private group and we had an incredible experience with Andreas. He gave very easy to understand directions and advice on how to get there, greeted us at the train station, and then led us on the hike into the forest. Along the way he stopped plenty of times to let everyone catch up and talk about Norwegian culture and nature. We then stopped for snacks and hot drinks before continuing on to another location where he prepared our dinner. The scenery was gorgeous, the food was incredible, and Andreas was great to talk to. We had an amazing time and I would highly recommend this experience to anyone.
This tour was great! The hike was not a difficult one at all. Our guide was so much fun. He imparted his knowledge in a fun, yet educational way. The food? It was soooo good. We all enjoyed every bit of it. We cannot recommend this tour enough.
Exactly as advertised and a whole lot more! Our host, the landscape and food was excellent! Would absolutely recommend!
This is a unique experience you shouldn’t pass up on. Andreas was an amazing guide, and also an amazing chef. Andreas teaches you about Norwegian culture, while waking through the trails in Frognerseteren. In addition, he prepares the dinner (all home-made) surrounded by nature. The food was absolutely amazing, and combined with the beautiful view of the lake, it was truly a special experience. It was a great day to start my first day visiting Oslo. Andreas is both gracious and accommodating. Please book! You won’t be disappointed!
Andreas met us at the Frogner train stop. He introduced himself and explained the forest area. Gave us a delicious snack which he explained each piece. Then prepared a venison stew which was hearty delicious. Made waffles which were excellent. Be hungry before you go !! Best experience ever !! Highly recommend!!
An absolute 10/10 guide! The walk through the forest was scenic and peaceful, leading to a gorgeous lakefront spot where we sat down for a phenomenal meal. Andreas shared fascinating stories about Norwegian food history and local lifestyle. We were traveling with six kids—some adventurous eaters, others a bit more hesitant—and every single one left full, happy, and raving about something they tried!
What an amazing experience! This was one of the favorite parts of our vacation. The chef and host makes the trip - the food is excellent but his personality makes it an unforgettable adventure. DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE MENU! Parts are a bit adventurous but everything is optional and even the members of our party that didn’t want to be as daring with their culinary experience were still very full and very happy with the meal. I would absolutely recommend this.
The metro ride to the location for the tour was very nice and pleasant. My tour guide Andreas was amazing with knowledge about the food and his cooking was like a Michelin star restaurant in my opinion. The hike was gentle and i wish i brought my bathing suit to go into the lake but i was happy to put my feet in. I really recommend him and his tour group called troll tour.net. I had a blast and i would do it again if i come back again.
This was a very special, unique experience! We loved being able to enjoy the natural environment as much as the special foods of Norway! Everything was carefully selected and prepared by chef Andreas to give us a meaningful and delicious experience. The hike was gentle, but it’s a good idea to bring walking sticks for a little more stability over tree roots and rocks. Also, the metro ride was beautiful and relaxing! A fabulous experience!
A very unique and delightful experience of Norwegian food and culture. The food was a fun mix of different tastes made by a chef who puts his heart into his dishes… from the fresh herbs grown at his home to the salmon he cures himself. And we enjoyed the famous fresh air lifestyle of Norway along the way. If you love a one-of-a-kind culinary experience, give this one a chance.
If you do on thing when you are in the Oslo area, make it this! From the stunning Metro ride up to the meeting point, to the incredible scenery and outstanding flavours you won’t regret booking this tour! I’ve done so many food tours but nothing comes close to this. Andreas was such a brilliant host, really friendly, knowledgeable and funny. He puts such care into the tiniest of details and really take pride over his dishes. Being able to stop and swim in a lake, before being served fresh stew and waffles cooked over a cauldron in the forest… it was unforgettable. If you are in Oslo DO THIS TOUR!

An amazing afternoon. Book this tour. Today, a cold day in late March I happened to be the only person to book this experience. Andras happily guided just me. As instructed I took Metro line 1 to the last stop. This was a great experience. I started in a downtown subway station. Over the hour long metro ride the train left the tunnel and winded up the hills outside of Oslo. Beautiful views of the fjords, wood etc. Andras met me at the station and we wandered in to the woods on snow covered trails. We stopped for a warm drink, later a tasty appetizer and then finally the main course. This is not a food tour. It is a feast.
I am so glad I did this tour! Andreas our guide was superb all the way through our tour. We met at Frognerseteran Metro. It is so easy to get the tube from Oslo Central so don’t be put off by travelling to the meet up point.. We walked through forests and had many breaks where Andreas would tell us the history of Norway, in particular the food. We tried so many different local dishes and ended up with a fantastic stew over a fire pit next to the lake. I would recommend this to anyone. Thank you so much, Andreas.
We loved our experience with Andreas! This tour uniquely blends a love of food, history and nature, made even more special by Andreas preparing the food himself, all of which was very delicious, and his strong storytelling skills. Andreas went above and beyond to make our particular tour a good experience since we had rainy conditions. The tour also takes place in an area that gets you outside of the city and provides a unique perspective to Oslo culture. Highly recommend!
This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip! The guide was super friendly and funny. The food was wonderful, and even prepared by the guide himself. I would recommend this tour to everyone; we had a lot of fun!
Delicious feast in the forest by an incredible chef! Andreas clearly loves both nature and gastronomy. Learn about Norway and their food on a beautiful hike above Oslo. A bargain and treasure!
The food was delicious and it was great learning about traditional norwegian meals. My tour guide was very informative and friendly. The scenery was spectacular. Would definitely recommend this tour!
Amazing experience! He picked us up right at the metro. He took us on a walk around in nature while giving us a bit of Norwegian history. There is a washroom about halfway on the adventure. The food was absolutely fantastic!
The guide very friendly and funny. The delicious food and the very nice route. The day before he sent us a message warning of weather complications that could change the route and prepared everything very well so that we did not have to cancel it. The information that the guide tells super interesting and the tour was with a small but very nice group and overall very good atmosphere.
