If you know very little about Oslo, its past and its present, please go on this tour. In two hours, the guide will present important points of Norwegian history, chat with the guests, and wind through the highlights of the City Center. I had the privilege of touring with only two additional guests, so it felt like a personalized, private tour. Don't shy away from a little rain and gray skies; it did not affect my experience. NOTE: if City Hall is open the day of your tour, take advantage of the free entry to City Hall. I did not go that same day, and it was closed to tourists the day after, my only remaining chance to see the interior.
Booked and paid for this walking tour via Tripadvisor and we really enjoyed the morning - the guide Ramon was informative but kept the content light - it wasn't a 'nerd-fest' by any means. The tour lasted about 2 hours and I'd recommend it as an easy way to learn about Oslo and get your bearings.
Get Daniel, he is one of the funniest and competent guides I have had the pleasure of touring with. His food suggestions were excellent as was his commentary on people, places and things to do in Oslo. A worthwhile experience.
We had Daniel who turned out to be one of the best walking tour guides we have ever had. His knowledge of Oslo's and indeed Norway's history was outstanding. Daniel also privided some very good recommendations on eating establishments and local places and trips such as the ferry trip to Oslo's local islands The only negative comment we had was the advertised itinerary on the Viator website did not fully match the actual itinerary. All up, an excellent tour.
It was good until the end. Our guide was good. He walked a little fast. At the end of the day tour he made a political comment …a jab. I did not appreciate.
The walking tour gave us a great introduction to Oslo. Alexia, our guide, shared insights about life in Oslo, snippets of Norwegian history and recommendations for further excursions. It was great value for money and was an easily walkable itinerary. It was perfect for us because we were only in town for a day on a cruise.
Very enjoyable tour and a good way to orientate with the city soon after arrival
Very knowledgeable guide, tour was interesting and informative
I had Susana as guide and she's quite funny and tries to unite the group at the beginning, very good for people who travel alone
Great tour! Highly recommend for getting situated in Oslo! Great way to learn a bit of the history!!!
An ok walking tour. Guide was not native Norwegian so lacked insight into Norwegian way of life/way of thinking etc other than what she knows as a transplant. Good historical knowledge and a few funny stories.
Very informative, great views and good way to get your bearings of Oslo before exploring on your own.
A wonderful introduction to the history and culture of Oslo. Highly recommended.
Had a super tour with Marketa! She was extremely pleasant and knowledgeable about her adopted city! Lots of insight to take away from this tour in what was our first visit to the city. Short or long stay - don't miss this valuable introduction!
Amazing city tour with marketa, very friendly and fun
A very knowledgeable guide with all kinds of fascinating information about history and culture.
Nadia was a terrific tour guide! She gave us so much information about Oslo and it's history. This was a great introduction to the city!
If I could sum up this tour and our guide, Marketa, in three words, they would be: amazing, amazing, amazing! From start to finish, Marketa was so wonderfully knowledgeable, warm, and attentive. If you are looking for a completely stress-free experience where you can simply sit back, relax, and enjoy, this is the one to book. Letting Marketa take control allowed us to see all the absolute best sights while learning so much interesting history and local context along the way. It is fantastic value for money, and I truly cannot recommend this tour enough to anyone visiting. A 5-star rating isn't enough—5 stars plus for me! Thank you so much, Marketa, for making our trip so special!
Excellent tour of the City and wonderful guide! Daniel was informative and funny at the same time! We were lucky to get him
Marketa was friendly, engaging and even the jokes were good. Easy to find the meeting point as right next to the Tiger at the train station. 90% a flat walking tour and only one small hill for those who want to know.
Daniel was an excellent guide, taking us through the main sights of Oslo on a tragic day (the King had passed away).
Marketa is an excellent guide! Friendly, funny and very knowledgeable. The walking pace was comfortable. The group was large, but managed well. Excellent quick overview of Central Oslo.
We had a great time exploring Oslo on this walking tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us to a few places you wouldn’t normally experience as well as a number of the landmarks around the city. We would recommend this tour as a great introduction to the city and a good way to orientate yourself before you go off exploring on your own
Guide has sense of humour Guide was walking at a fast pace and you should catch up I am 75 years old and my wife 70
We have a unique experience not only because our tour guide it was very nice and knowledgeable, and the places she show us beautiful and interesting, it was the day of the king funeral, then it was a different but interesting, unique tour.
Our guide Ramon was very informative. He provided us with a lot of information. He made it fun and engaging.
Our guide was well informed and very friendly. There was the right mix of history and humour to keep us all interested
Excellent walking tour of Oslo. Daniel was both informative and funny. Just the right length for a start of a visit to Oslo.Would highly reccomend.
Our guide was very knowledgeable of the city. We saw many of the major buildings in the city along with some historic buildings and structures. We moved at a good pace. Not too slow, not too fast.
Great guide, making historical stories interesting, just enough walking and major sights covered
A very informative and visually beautiful walking tour. We ended up spending time at many of Nadia 's recommendations.
Our guide Irina was so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and inclusive of our group. She told great stories.
It was an excellent introduction to our first time in Oslo and set us up for our next few days exploring the city. Suzanna was informative and entertaining. We thoroughly recommend this tour.
Overall, a very good 2 hours tour to know about oslo and history by Kamil from Nordic Freedom. Price reasonable.
We were very happy with the guide, Susanna. She took us around in a nice humorous, pleasant way. She was very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the company of other tourists and would definitely recommend this walking tour of central Oslo.
We really enjoyed our tour with Daniel, he was funny, very dry and full of knowledge, he made the tour fun whilst sharing his knowledge but wasn’t too serious which was great. A great introduction and start to our stay in Oslo.
A very enjoyable tour of the city with a knowledgable guide. Got to learn some of the history of the city and buildings, had some useful recommendations for visits and places to eat. Our guide was friendly and helpful.
It is a limited experience that shows you around the city of Oslo . Marketawas very good with recommendations and suggestions of where to go what to eat and activities.
Guide was good but having paid via Viator it turned out to be a free tour with payment expected as a tip to the guide.
Great tour, great guide! We very much enjoyed this! Just enough time to see everything on foot! Guide was very knowledgeable.
It was very interesting and informative. The guide was very very good. She was knowledgeable very friendly and wanted to get to know everybody individually which was nice.
Marketta was superb! A credit to your company.
Excellent overview of main sights in central Oslo. She also gave some historical background. The tour really helped me to get oriented to the city. The downside was that the group was too large, so it was very difficult to hear. Our guide said that she was supposed to have help, but they were absent.
Camille walked us around the main points of Oslo town telling us stories of the history of each place. He was a well informed and lively fun guide. Recommend
I've taken many tours around the world, but this was hands down one of the most fun, largely due to Daniel, our tour guide. He has a great sense of humor and a lot of historical knowledge.
Great introduction to Oslo. Camille( ?sp) was knowledgeable and helpful.
Very informative and enjoyable experience. Thanks very much to our guide, Daniel, for doing a fabulous job keeping us entertained with his sense of humor and detailed knowledge of Oslo. Highly recommend doing this tour with Daniel as we don’t know where the time went!
Great walking tour, allowing us great orientation in a short space of time. We saw loads of key highlights which we were able to go back and visit properly later on during our stay. Our guide was fun, sharing stories and folklore. Excellent introduction to Oslo
