Thon Hotel Opera

Paid, confirmed reservation. Booked months ahead. On arrival day, Thon Hotel Opera cancelled it, no explanation beyond “unexpected changes.” We were already traveling when we found out. We’d just spent 12 nights across three other Thon hotels this trip. Loyal, paying guests. This is how we were treated. The timing lines up with Oslo’s spike in hotel demand during the national mourning period for King Harald V. Can’t prove it, but it’s hard not to wonder if our room went to a higher bidder. Left us scrambling for a new hotel mid-trip. Unacceptable for a “confirmed” booking. Never again with Thon. Won’t be back, won’t recommend them.

Cannot beat the location. The hotel is conveniently located near the opera house near the habor and next to the main rail station. The room is nice, not too big or too small. However, the bathroom supplies are lacking. No lotion or shampoo or conditioner. The hotel provides bodywash/shampoo/conditioner in one container. Luckily, I have packed my hair products and lotion. The breakfast buffet was great. There are many restaurants near by.

Nice hotel. Just checked in and so impressed. Great location next to Central Station and across from Oslo Opera House and Munch Museum. Girl at front desk gave us early check in as we walked over from Copenhagen to Oslo ferry terminal, about 20 minute walk. Wonderful service from her and room nice and clean and efficient layout. If in Oslo, I recommend highly.

1. Location: step out from Central Station, we can go to lobby. In central of central, next to Deichman library, Karl Johan Gate... 2. Room: superior, nice view to see the square, clean, door & window tight, no noisy, nice to relax, high quality interior 3. Breakfast: full options, friendly staffs Just food smell from restaurant at lobby that disturb this elegant asmosphere
