The hotel is amazing, the rooms are top, the gym and sauna are perfekt 👌🏼 The only complain I have is about the gluten free breakfast, very very few options. When your are in a fantastic hotel like this you would love that the breakfast for ( cøliaki) is at the same level.
Staff could not be more friendly and helpful. Pier 42 bartenders are also friendly, very knowledgeable and professional. The drinks are very Norwegian and imaginative, and great of course. The hotel is extremely convenient to the train station and many must see sights. Worth the $.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The location is perfect for exploring Oslo, and the facilities were excellent. The gym was spacious and well equipped, and the sauna was the perfect way to relax after a day of sightseeing. What truly made our visit unforgettable, though, was the exceptional hospitality. Ronna, the concierge, went far above and beyond every expectation. From the moment we arrived, she greeted us with genuine warmth, fantastic recommendations, and a level of care that made us feel like valued guests rather than just another room number. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and attention to detail made our entire stay so much more enjoyable. A beautiful hotel with outstanding amenities is always appreciated, but it's people like Ronna who turn a great stay into a truly memorable one. Thank you for making our visit to Oslo so special. Visiting from the USA, I was initially hesitant to book in a hotel with “America!” theming, but I’m glad I did. The decor and interior vibe was classy and comfortable, the service was excellent, and the room was spacious enough for myself, my wife, and our two suitcases of stuff. For people visiting Oslo for the first time, this location is top-tier. You’re steps away from the train station with easy access to/from the airport. You’re also on lots of trolley stops and an easy walk to most of the places you’ll want to see. Breakfast is great with lots of selection. If your stay includes breakfast, you can mix and match between the buffet and made to order dishes. Hotel service is also notable. While you can opt to check-in via a tablet at reception, the people working are very attentive and nice. We had an isolated issue with noise near our room, and they handled it appropriately, with no questions. If you’re visiting in the summer/fall of 2026, be aware that a large construction project is happening in the lot behind the hotel. Work is limited to weekday afternoons, but the noise is pretty significant during those times, even deep inside the hotel. This wasn’t disruptive to sleep, but could be an issue if anybody in your party depends on resting in the afternoons.

The location is unbeatable—just steps from the train station and right in the heart of Oslo, making it the perfect base for exploring the city. The warm welcome set the tone immediately. The front desk team was friendly, welcoming, and even accommodated an early check-in. To make our stay even more memorable, we were upgraded and arrived at our room to find a plate of desserts and a handwritten birthday card for my husband. It was such a thoughtful touch and made us feel genuinely cared for. The hotel itself is stunning. The gym is modern, stylish, and unlike the typical hotel fitness center. And then there's the breakfast—simply outstanding. The selection, quality, and presentation were some of the best we've experienced during our travels. The turn down service comes with warm cookies and a note that tells you what weather is like tomoerow. Every detail felt intentional, and the service was exceptional throughout our stay. If you're visiting Oslo, staying at Amerikalinjen is a complete no-brainer. We would return in a heartbeat. This was so great!!
