Osaka: Tea Ceremony, Calligraphy, And Kimono Experience

Our experience at Sazanka was amazing! Our host Sachi was so sweet and knowledgeable. It was fun dressing up and learning about the tea ceremony. She was also very patient with teaching us the Japanese calligraphy. Thank you, Sachi!

This was a very unique and extraordinary experience. The kimono experience was pretty cool, especially if you’d like to do it in an indoor area and not around many people. The space is very nice.. there was a lot of detail put into this space. The tea ceremony itself felt real. This is not a rushed activity, it is carefully thought out and the time spent with you is perfect. Thank you for a great experience!

This is a must do in Japan!! It’s such a unique experience from start to finish & allows you to connect with the culture beyond shrines & food. It started off with my host allowing me to choose my kimono from the wide selection available. Then she dressed me up which was crazy to see all of the layers & steps it took to get fully dressed. It’s a lot more intricate than you think! Then she did my hair which I wasn’t expecting & got to choose from a variety of pins to add to my hair. Next was the calligraphy lesson which was actually easier than I thought. It wasn’t easy for me but my calligraphy didn’t look terrible either. It was very therapeutic actually. You also get to write on a card or fan to take home with you as a keepsake. Definitely a unique souvenir to take home no one else will have! Lastly was the tea ceremony which was such a beautiful thing to witness. Every step is with the utmost attention to detail & intentional. Then you get to try which was fun & easy to do! Overall, it was an excellent experience & I would recommend to anyone that wants a unique Japanese cultural experience:) Special thanks to my host whom I forgot to get a picture with & deeply regret.

This was the highlight of our time in Japan. I cannot express enough, how much you should do this tour! Sachi was amazing first of all, and our being able to pick our own Kimono, wear it, learn calligraphy and observe Sachi doing a traditional tea ceremony? A memory I will cherish forever. This traditional tea ceremony in Osaka was absolutely amazing! It was such a beautiful and welcoming experience, and one of the highlights of our time in Japan. I got to wear a beautiful kimono, and they helped me get dressed and properly put it on. I felt so pretty and truly felt like I was experiencing a special part of Japanese culture. My son was also dressed in traditional Japanese clothing, and he had such a great time. We learned about the tea ceremony and even had the opportunity to practice Japanese calligraphy. Everything was very educational, but it never felt overwhelming. The hosts were incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming, and they made us feel comfortable throughout the entire experience. At the end, we enjoyed delicious matcha and traditional Japanese sweets. It was such a lovely way to finish the experience. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting Osaka. Getting dressed in traditional clothing, learning calligraphy, experiencing the tea ceremony, and sharing it all with my son made this a really special memory that I will always treasure. 🇯🇵🍵

Absolutely fantastic experience. Miko was phenomenal and really Patient with us. She took the time to dress us all and talk to us through the whole T ceremony, including all my relentless questions and then the calligraphy was amazing with her taking time Patient to talk us through the technique.

From helping us select the perfect Kimonos for each of us, helping us dress in them, the patience and encouragement during our calligraphy lesson and the peaceful atmosphere of the tea ceremony- it couldn’t have been a more perfect experience overall. Loved this activity. The location was easy to find. It was such a beautiful calm and peaceful experience. We felt incredibly glammed up in our kimonos and hair styling. The tea ceremony was very spirital and we sort of mastered the calligraphy and had excellent tuition. It is close to a shopping centre for lunch and shopping afterwards.

This is an excellent way to experience a few traditional Japanese traditions in a very welcoming and cosy environment. The hosts spoke English so it was very interactive. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend. If you're unsure just book it and see for yourself.

My wife, daughter, and I had such a beautiful experience here. From getting to pick out our Kimono pieces, to trying our hand at writing some calligraphy, to learning how to carry out the traditional tea ceremony and making our own tea, every aspect of the evening was so enjoyable and insightful. Our host was very warm and kind and took so many great photos and videos for us that we now get to cherish! Definitely will be recommending this experience to friends who visit Osaka in the future.

I have done a tea ceremony before in Tokyo, but I was here on a trip with my mum and wanted to go one step further. We dressed up, did calligraphy (we tried at least haha) and had an amazing tea ceremony. Mika was wonderful! She knew her stuff, was warm, polite and very informative of the Japanese crafts. You must try, it was one of the best tea ceremony / Japanese culture experiences you can do!
