Having traveled to Japan a number of times I wanted to do something different. This was an enjoyable class. Anna is a great teacher, very patient, professional and informative. Can’t wait to see my finished project. Thank you Anna.

Itinerary
In the workshop, we will made ceramic related to Japanese gastronomy with clay. You can choose between the following options: -sake set (small bottle and glass) -sushi set (sushi plate and chopstick holder) -chawan for tea - It takes about 1 month and a half to ship your pottery. (Shipping fee is not included) During the workshop, Anna, Ryo and our team will talk about Japanese culture. Participants will receive as a souvenir a small plate for sushi (decorated with traditional glazw) and a chopstick holder in the shape of a sakura flower made by Anna. If desired, the pieces made during the workshop can be sent to the participant's home (shipping costs are not included). The workshops are given in Spanish, Catalan or English. Unlike the other experiences related to ceramics, this is the only one that is held in Spanish or Catalan. The building is a century-old two-storey house in the south of Osaka. It is located next to a street lined with shops selling local food. The visit to the workshop is an immersion into the Japan of the Showa era. In this non-touristy area, the walk from the station to the studio shows a real Osaka that you won't find in the guidebooks.

I really enjoyed this private ceramics session with Anna! I attended with my boyfriend and a friend. She was very kind, funny, and helpful, and it was nice that experience wasn’t needed to create a beautiful piece. It was a very laid back session and ended with a small tour of the charming centuries-old home-turned-studio, and a chance to see and purchase work from other artists. I highly recommend this class and bloom forward to receiving the fired piece!
I booked a private session to learn about Japanese ceramics and create a piece of my own. Anna was very knowledgeable and extremely patient and kind in instructing how to create my piece. Great experience!! A highlight of my trip!!
Enjoyable experience. Great way to relax and enjoy something fun. Host was very hospitable and friendly made us feel so welcomed
Una maravillosa experiencia. Ana presenta y comparte su conocimiento de la cultura japonesa fácil de entender y apreciar. Ayuda lo suficiente para que la cerámica salga bien. Gracias Ana. Altamente recomendado la experiencia. This was an excellent experience. Ana shares her insightful knowledge of Japanese culture, helps enough with whatever you’re making to ensure it comes out nice. Thank you Ana. Highly recommend this experience.
Had a great session there. Anna is very friendly and knowledgeable! she taught us a lot in Japanese pottery clay making. cannot wait to see the final product we made
The operator Anna was incredibly friendly and personable, giving us helpful and clear instructions. It is clear to me that Anna is very knowledgeable in the field of Japanese pottery and pottery in general. She provided valuable information regarding the nuances of the variations in the shapes of the vessels we were forming with the clay - particularly around the functional purpose and cultural context. We were also given recommendations for things to do in Ōsaka and Tokyo. Overall, I had a great time participating in this workshop. Highly recommend - particularly if you’re after something a bit more relaxed and need a break from a busy travel itinerary.
This was a great experience. Both Anna & Ryo were such excellent hosts! My shoe bottom fell off & Ryo helped glue & tape the bottom back on! I initially attempted to meet them via taxi but it was an epic fail! Their location is completely inaccessible via taxi. Their meeting location made total sense! Anna was patient & a great teacher. It was a very memorable experience hand building a bowl! And even my 1st time!!!
It was a very chill experience. Ana was very patient and taught us not only the technique but the meaning of the ceramics we could make. Both me and my wife want to find a kiln around our home so we can continue making more ceramics!
Had a great time with Anna today, she was very patient and kind and had a great knowledge of history and traditions of Japanese pottery which made the experience even more meaningful. Lovely quiet part of Osaka, with Anna’s pieces being hard to resist. Love to support a local small business ❤️ highly recommend
The class was perfect! We had a lot of fun making some beautiful pieces. Anna was very friendly and helpful. It’s nice that it is an intimate experience and not a crowded activity. We would highly recommend this activity to anyone!!
My husband and I had a great evening with Anna making pottery. Neither of us have much experience with clay, but Anna made us feel like professionals and she was so pleasant to work with—it felt like we were friends by the end of the activity. He made the sushi plate and I made the sake set and we were elated to also learn a lot about the customs around these dishes from Anna, in addition to picking her brain for her experience with other aspects of Japan as well. We learned a lot and had a great time doing it! I’d recommend this activity to anyone going to Osaka who is interested in going beyond the touristy level of knowledge and getting their hands a little dirty in the process.
My girlfriend and I took on this experience with Anna as our teacher. We absolutely loved the experience with the clay but also Anna's knowledge and what we learnt about Japaneae culture and traditional pottery. This was my second time learning from Anna and i enjoyed to experience just as much as the first time. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who loves art or anyone who wants to learn some unique parts of Japanese culture. Anna is an amazing teacher with lovely chars and laughs along the way. Anna also recommended local coffee shops and eateries in the area which were very helpful 😀
A great experience. I had a one to one and it was tailored to my skills. Anna is a gentle instructor and a very interesting person. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend the session
A very fun experience, you learn a lot about the japanese culture while making a piece of ceramics. The hosts are very welcoming and willing to help and answer questions when necessary, def a reccomodation
I had a great time with Anna and learning about the hand building pottery process! It was definitely a very different process than wheel throwing. I recommend Anna and this class for beginners or experienced potters. Anna is very friendly and patient. Thank you Anna for giving me tips and information on where I can go see/buy traditional Japanese pottery.
This was such an amazing experience to have while in Japan! Anna and Jill were so amazing with explaining and helping with not only the process for making our pieces (the chawan or traditional tea cups), but also the cultural significance of the ceramics and the history and customs associated with each one. They also provided us with recommendations for good places to visit for food and activities during our stay in Osaka, which were great! We also got to go and see Anna’s studio and pieces for sale on the second floor, which was so pretty! We would recommend this to anyone staying in Japan for a great cultural experience with a great and personal souvenir to take home at the end.
Toured Japan with my teen son and wanted to do a hands on activity. This was PERFECT!!! We had the most fun hanging out and making pottery. Anne was so amazing and patient with us. We were greeted with hot tea and a smile. Just received our creations and we are so happy with our souvenirs!
The warmth of Ana and Ryo made this experience the best we had in Japan. It is a great family experience with great knowlenge and many laughs.
The class was fun and it was presented well by Anna. We had great instruction and Anna is very knowledgeable and made it memorable. She’s talented and wants to share her love of pottery.
We had a great experience with Anna and Ryo. We were picked up at the train station by Ryo and got to see a more residential side of Osaka that was a contrast to the tourist spaces. The studio was warm and inviting and Anna was a great instructor. She was warm and encouraging for a couple of newbies. It was a lot of fun to choose and make our own pieces and to see Anna’s finished work. We also enjoyed chatting with them about their life in Japan and Spain and our experiences in America. They are wonderful people and I highly recommend this workshop to anyone with an interest in ceramics.
Anna was wonderful. She met us at the destination place and walked us through a covered market owned by locals, which was a refreshing sight compared to the markets in Namba. Her studio was in a small Japanese style home and felt perfect for what we were about to learn and create. This was really a fun and rewarding experience. Anna's assistant, Fanny, was absolutely a delight. Make sure to ask Anna if you can view her work in her upstairs studio. It's worth it the 'dicey' steps going up. This was a great part of our trip !
This experience was amazing! Anna was so nice and informative! She made the experience so much fun and really encouraged you to make the piece your own. She was wonderful to talk with and even helped me out by telling me about some places I could visit nearby. I definitely recommend this experience! It was amazing and I can't wait to get my pieces in a few months and be reminded of it all!!
I enjoyed my first Japanese ceramics experience. Anna was a great teacher and went over all the different techniques with me patiently. I was able to make a chawan with Anna’s guidance and can’t wait to use it when I go back home. Thank you so much for such a fun experience.
Anna, Ryo, & June were very fun to spend time with and learn from. So happy with the pieces we made!
Absolutely loved this experience! Ryo and Anna are such beautiful people! I was running late to for the pickup and panicking - Ryo waited 10+ minutes as I ran around trying to find the right spot😅 I loved learning about not just the process of making the ceramics, but also what each part was and it’s culinary meaning. Anna was an excellent teacher, but also gave me the opportunity to experiment and try play with the clay myself. Their shop is adorable, and I bought a piece afterwards as a gift for a friend. The neighbourhood is great as well - much more local and relaxed than the big tourist districts, and it was fun to go wandering afterwards. Ryo and Anna gave me recommendations around Osaka and Kyoto as well!! Overall a highlight of my trip so far, and will definitely be recommending it to friends and family! Can’t wait for my sake bottle and cup to arrive at home! Ryo also took excellent candid shots during for great memories!
Anna and Ryo are fantastic people, very nice, we had a wonderful and funny experience. No need to be a specialist, Anna explain everything in a simple way and their joy are communicative. It was a unforgettable moment and we recommend this experience to all !
We had a really good time. Anna and Ryo is pleasent and passionate people, and they took great care of us. We can't wait to see the results! We hope we have the chance to come again.
Love, love, loved this Japanese Ceramic class!!! Both Anna and Ryo was amazing! As a solo traveler and first time ceramic participant, I did not know really what to expect. I wanted something educational, relaxing, different, and fun. This met and exceeded all of my expectations! Anna was so knowledgable, patient, and so creative. Ryo was so enjoyable, full of high energy, and was a great complement to Anna. They both were so hospitable and although I was the only participant for that class, it was like being amongst friends and having so much fun! I highly recommend this class to everyone and when I return to Osaka next year, my sister is excited to be joining me as well! I truly appreciate the friendship of these two wonderful people and look forward to seeing them again!
I did this ceramics session with three friends and we had a great time. Ryo and Anna are very warm, welcoming people and great to talk to. It was a great experience learning from them about the process and history of Japanese ceramics and how it compares with Anna's previous experience in Barcelona prior to comingto Japan. We were able to choose from a variety of items to make and had very good instructions as well as practical help in doing this. They will let you to choose your colour and ship it back to your home country after baking the pieces. Afterwards, we also got a chance to sit down for some tea/coffee and view their little display area upstairs to see Anna's other works and learn a bit about them. This made for a really relaxing and intimate experience that I'd definitely recommend as something to do if you're into some crafty stuff and want a bit of respite from the bustling city.
Anna and Ryo are so friendly and knowledgeable. A beautiful venue, so much fun and great conversation. I loved my ceramics lesson, and they also recommended other great things to do while I’m in Osaka. Thank you both for a highlight of my trip to Japan xx
Had so much fun making sushi sets and getting to know Ryo and Anna! As foreigners it was great to learn first hand about Japanese pottery and it was also nice to ask random questions about Japanese society like why our ¥2000 notes were throwing people off or what certain Japanese words meant! This was possibly the highlight of our trip! Will be recommending to everybody I know going to Japan!
Anna and Ryo were amazing teachers, they brought warmth and kindness to the pottery session. We were offered the choice between 3 different pottery sets and Anna perfectly guided us through the sets we chose. She also explained the significance of the designs and style of each piece. Ryo was also nice enough to collect us from the station and walk us to the studio. This prevented us potentially getting lost and was a perfect start to the day! They also offered us many recommendations for places to eat and go! If we end up in Osaka again we would love to learn more from Anna and Ryo.
I've always wanted to try pottery and understand sculpture more, so when I found this ceramics workshop experience going on in Osaka, I was very excited to book it in and make it a part of my holiday there. It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon - Ana and Ryo were so welcoming, friendly and helpful from start to finish. I received a one-to-one tutorial on how to make some ceramic items of my choice, in a colour of my choice, with explanations in both Japanese and English to help with my Japanese language studies. It was a fascinating and fun, hands-on introduction to Japanese pottery! I'm so excited to receive my fire, painted and glazed pot! It will make for a really unique and personalized souvenir from my Osaka trip. I'd recommend this experience to anybody, as it's a way to meet and get to know local residents and have a direct, first-hand experience of a Japanese craft! Really enriched my trip!!
