We think the park Osaka Castle is in, and the exterior of the castle are splendid and rewarding to visit. The tired, poorly designed non-castle interior: Not so much. So we don't go in. Trust us, you're not missing anything.
Explore this fabulous time-warp of a market, where fashion, food, and culture noisily collide and birth something wonderful. There's not much pre-war Osaka left to explore, but this is a champion of a local sight. It also highlights the Korean influence on the city.
So, we don't pay the money to go to the very top of the building, but we know a way to get almost as good a view without waiting in line, and without paying a shiny yen for the privilege either. Afterwards, we go down underground and explore the mysteries of the Japanese department store food hall and markets area. Ready for the most expensive melon you've ever seen? Look but don't touch :)
This entertainment district dating back around a hundred years has all sorts of sights in store for you, some shiny, and some with a rather worn patina. Both are lots of fun to take in. It's a boisterous center of Osaka culture, and for good reason!
Sure, we want to show you the less touristed parts of Osaka on this tour, but we'd be remiss to not show you the famous "running man" and Dotonbori at large. But we also take you down some small backstreets even here, and we've got a few interesting stories to tell you as well.

I had a wonderful private four-hour Osaka tour with Terumi. She was very knowledgeable, and because Osaka is her hometown, she knew exactly how to help me make the most of my time. We moved quickly between trains and explored many sights on foot, fitting so much into four hours. There was lots of walking and train-hopping, but it was absolutely worth it! Terumi was friendly, organized, and an excellent guide. I highly recommend her to anyone wanting to experience as much of Osaka as possible in a short time.
Very uncoordinated pick up communication…. asked to be picked up from hotel months in advance… yet they left me stranded. Missed tour altogether so had to book elsewhere…
Kevin was very knowledgeable and able to explain the history and culture really well. We took the metro from point to point. The tour was very organized. We got to see the highlights of the city which was great. Kevin also knew great places for photos and for shade. Only downside was walking in the heat but not much can be done about the weather. I would recommend fans and umbrellas if going in the summer.

An amazing tour with Bryan. Everything about the tour was brilliant. The tour guide's knowledge was amazing, although it's a walking tour, Bryan knew all the tricks to skip the stairs on a hot day. Also appreciated only stopping at good toilet stops. Highly recommended
We had an excellent tour of the Osaka Castle, Shinseki and Dotonburi District. Tommy was a knowledgeable and very friendly guide. As a non-native guide, he shared some Japanese etiquette, which helped us understand how to be good guests while traveling in Japan. His passion for the country was contagious and really enhanced our tour. We covered a lot of territory on this walking tour and enjoyed taking the subway system. Great tour if you want to see some iconic Osaka sports in 4 hours. I took a private tour. Ichiro was an excellent guide, well informed about every place we visit. We visit the Osaka Castle exterior, an some of the most touristic streets in the city centre. We walk and we use the subway. The tour is good because you dont waste time in shops like in other tours, and you can enjoy places walking around with some interesting historic context.

This was a great city tour of Osaka. Jamie, our guide was wonderful, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and history. We visited several different areas of Osaka, which was very interesting.
This walking tour was everything I hoped it would be. We saw some classic sites and a few off the beaten path. Our guide Brian was excellent; he was informative, engaging and very helpful. We needed to meet him at the starting location, he texted me the address in Japanese so all I needed to do was show the address to the taxi driver and he drove us directly there. I throughly enjoyed the experience.

Your does not go into the Castle. Brian was a very good guide explained things clearly, very helpful with getting around Osaka by train. Great view points outside Castle and in the highrise. Guided tour to fish market which would have been very difficult on our own.
This tour took us around to places there is no way I would be able to discover on my own. By the end of the tour, you are disappointed it is not longer to be able to discover more things off the beaten path.

This is an excellent tour of Osaka visiting most of the main sights. Our tpur guide, Kevin, has an amazing knowledge of Osaka and Japanese history and culture. Small group - 4 of us which was brilliant as we got to ask a lot of questions, There is a quite a bit of walking and using the subway (Kevin will help you purchase a subway ticket - not included in the cost), but so easy to get around with an expert! Finished in Dotonbori - just amazing. Thoroughly recommend.

Even though we lost or connection in the meeting point the guide contacted us to regroup and meet at the first stop which was the Osaka Castle. Our guide was from France and was living in Japan. Very knowledgeable about the sites and took us to all the highlights of the city. Had a good with tour. Very pleasant lady.

Really great, flexible, overview of Osaka. Traveling with kids can be tricky but this was flexible and kept my child engaged. We saw a lot in a short amount of time. Was useful as an intro to the area, as we did it our first day in Osaka
Be prepared for a lot of walking and subway stairs. It truly is off the beaten path and was very interesting to see. The koreatown has great food and the view from the Marriott is unbeatable. Our tour guide has some great commentary about Osaka castle and we really had a great time. He’s super flexible with what you want to do and even does an Osaka food tour!

Our family took the four hour walking tour of Osaka with Oisin and had an amazing time. Oisin had so much local knowledge of the area and was able to share it in a fun, engaging way. It was informative for the adults and also kept the kids interested as well. We got to visit so many "must see" places in a short amount of time, but Oisin was also amazing at slowing the pace when we wanted to take family photos or spend a few extra minutes checking something out that caught our eye. I'd highly recommend this tour during your time in Osaka. It was a half-day well spent!

Generally speaking, tours are not my thing. But our guide, Oisin, made everything comfortable and easy! He taught us all about various historical facts as we took in the sights and the tour never felt dull or dragged out. It felt like exploring a new city with an old friend. For that reason alone, I give it 5 stars! Even if you’re hesitant, I can’t recommend it enough!
My wife and I recently took a half-day tour of Osaka with Hugo, and we truly enjoyed every moment. Hugo was incredibly knowledgeable, providing us with a wealth of information about the history and cultural significance of the various areas we visited. We particularly loved how he gave us a great highlight tour of the city while also being able to somewhat personalize the experience, which was a nice bonus since our group wasn't too large. He expertly guided us through some of Osaka's fantastic shopping districts and shared fascinating tidbits about each neighborhood's rich history. Be prepared for a fair bit of walking, but it's absolutely worth it to discover some of the city's best hidden gems.
