Tsutenkaku – Landmark of Shinsekai & Birthplace of Kushikatsu Walk through Shinsekai under the watch of Tsutenkaku, the iconic tower that defines this neighborhood. Built over a century ago, this area was created as a lively entertainment district inspired by Western culture, giving it a unique character still felt today. Shinsekai is also known as the birthplace of kushikatsu, where Osaka’s famous deep-fried skewers became a local favorite.
We had such a good time. Our guide Yuta gave a really balanced tour between historical context and good food choices. We got to try so many dishes without having to go too far! And everything was delicious!
Absolutely fantastic food tour with Max. Twenty dishes sounds insane — and it kind of is — but that’s what made it so much fun. We hit four genuinely local spots, tried things we never would have found or ordered on our own, and Max was funny, knowledgeable, and great company throughout. One of the most fun nights we had in Japan. Come hungry!
What an amazing food tour with Salvatore. He was such a wonderful young man full of interesting stories about the area, the food and culture. We were with a family of four and the tour was very relaxed and felt like lunch with friends. Great food too!

We had an excellent time with Taro. We learned about Osaka, saw some interesting things and tried so many different dishes. A real Osaka food experience. Should not be missed.
Our guide Ikki was great, did a great job showing us around and hanging out as we ate. The amount of food included in the price is very generous, especially the sushi spot we ended with - also best Gyoza I’ve ever had. Was an efficient way to check out the Shinsekai area of Osaka. Meet up was easy, right outside of the train station. Would say it was a great value, esp if you’re drinking alcohol (at least based on the current US exchange rate). We did the lunch time slot on a Monday and the area wasn’t totally dead, but if I had to do it again I’d probably do it at dinner time, Shinsekai looks cooler at night.

We enjoyed the tour and much of the food. The first 3 places were good. However, the last venue, a sushi place was not as good. The service was poor, and we had better sushi at home. However, our guide Niko was EXCELLENT. He was personable and connected with every guest. He explained the food as well as aspects of Japanese culture. He shared his own experiences which liven up our tour. I think this tour is appropriate for guests who are visiting Japan for the first time and have little previous experience with Japanese food.
Amazing tour! Taro was a great guide, super friendly and easy to talk to. He showed us some really cool local spots and explained everything in a fun way. The food was delicious and I got to try things I probably wouldn’t have found on my own. Definitely one of my favorite experiences in Osaka. Highly recommend Taro!
