Osaka Castle Walking Tour

Joshua was an excellent guide; one of the best from many I've taken. He provided such a great historical narrative of Osaka castle. He was able to answer my many questions and pointed out hidden picturesque spots. He spoke clearly and loud enough to be heard, and added enthusiasm. Overall it was just an exceptional tour.

Great tour of the castle grounds and castle. Mayumi Terayama was our guide and she was excellent. She gave us a history of Japan prior to entering the grounds and then the history of the castle itself. As we were the only ones on the tour she tailored it to what we were interested in. I would definitely recommend!

This was a very good and interesting tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history. She made the tour well worth its price.

I’m not a fan of tour guides who rely on pictures to tell a story, I feel like they should be engaging enough to be able to keep us interested and well informed. Although our guide was absolutely lovely she was softly spoken and I couldn’t hear some of what was said. She did take great photos though.

My wife booked this the Osaka Castle Walking Tour and our guide was Hikaru and we had a wonderful time. Hikaru speaks perfect English and did a great job telling the story of Nobu, Hike, and Tokugawa and the history of Osaka Castle. She also knew all the best places to stop and take pictures, and even walked us to the best spot to grab an Uber after our tour was complete. 10/10 would recommend this tour!

Such a fun and quick tour of Osaka Castle. We got to learn the history and take great pics! We also lucked out with the weather!

Great tour. Our tour guide Miri was very nice and kept an easy pace. The outside of the castle is gorgeous. We would have like to see the inside but the line was already long at 9 am.

Osaka castle is a beautiful stroll through Osaka history! I would recommend Aya from guidemejapan first and foremost. She is so knowledgeable and catered to our needs as a family on a very hot day in July! Remember that the tour does not include tickets into the castle. We didn’t mind it but if you are going, book early in the morning! It is beautiful and knowing more about it was key. Thank you Aya! You really made our tour and day an easy one!

A fine tour but it would be nice to include going inside the Castle as well. Our guide was very friendly and helpful.

Osaka Castle is beautiful and a highlight of our visit to Osaka. This castle has been rebuilt, so it has modern stairs and elevator inside. You can take the elevator up to the 5th floor and then climb the remaining floors up to the 8th floor. It's also a modern style museum inside the castle and has a gift shop on the top floor. However, please note this tour is only an OUTSIDE walk around the castle. This tour does NOT go INSIDE the castle, but that's totally fine. Our tour guide, Shizuka, did a good job. She spent two years living in Colorado, so she spoke English well. I appreciated that she carried a small binder / flip book with her with pictures to explain the key personalities in Japanese history that were involved in building the previous castle and the current castle. Shizuka led us to the best places to take pictures, and at the end she escorted us to the entrance so we could go see the inside of the castle on our own. ***Note: Buy your tickets for the inside castle ahead of time on the castle website. There was a line of people waiting to buy tickets to go inside, but if you buy your tickets in advance, you can just walk up to the front of the line and show your QR code on your phone. Once you buy your tickets, the tickets are good for 30 days, so you don't need to specify a day and time for your tour.

Taira was an excellent guide. He was very concise, informative, and so upbeat, despite the pouring rain. He made sure everyone felt included and provided lots of opportunities for photo taking

Shizuka did an amazing job on our (my wife & I) tour of Osaka Castle. Firstly we arranged our tour a little early (@ 9am) which meant we beat the rush & could leisurely stroll & chat around the expanse of the grounds of Osaka Castle. Further Shizuka explained the structure of Emporer, Shogun & Samurai (across Nobu, Side & Big Ears) - truly fascinating. Shizuka then found a number great photo opportunities/ keepsakes which we would have otherwise missed. Great Day & Tour.

If you want to see Osaka castle this is the best tour!! Akari was a phenomenal tour guide! We saw several angles and got plenty of great pictures!

We had a wonderful walk around the grounds to learn about the castle’s history. Was not super indepth and felt the tour should maybe be a little longer and include the interior of the castle but it was still good to learn more about it!

Yusuke was kind and explained to us the story of the castle in a very entertaining way! Also he showed us and took photos of us in great spots around the castle. We really enjoyed our time. Would 100% recommend booking this tour, especially if your knowledge of Osaka Castle history is almost none :)

Meeting Ryo was just the start of a wonderful introduction to Osaka Castle. He gave us an easy to understand history of the castle and took 4 great camera shots for us along the walk. Strongly recommend this for all.

Went on this quick castle tour by myself because my wife wanted to stay in the hotel. This tour was very short yet had so much information for such a great price. I would recommend this to anyone that wants a quick tour and wants to do something else after the tour

My friends and I decided to do this walking tour because we thought we could do the other sites of Osaka by ourselves. For the castle, we learned so much about the history it has to it. But what made this tour special was our guide Santa (and yes his actual name is Santa) He explained the historical information very well as he has perfect English. We will probably do another tour with him when we are back in Japan

Our guide was very friendly and told a lot of information about the castle and the exhibits inside. We loved it. Unfortunately, you were not allowed to take photos inside.

It's beautiful and imposing from the outside. It's worth a visit but I didn't find it a must... It's a bit of stairs and so full, that if I come back, it'll be just for the garden.
