Minoo Park was designated as a quasi - national park on December 11, 1967 as one of the Meiji 100th year commemorative project. A treasure trove of natural habitats of around 1,300 kinds of plants, 3,500 insects, a lot of wild birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fishes, etc surround the park. The special natural monument, the Japanese salamander, also inhabits the mountain area of Minoo.
"Ryuanji" has been the center point of the waterfalls since ancient times. Here exists a dojo where mountainous training was often held at. Mountain Priests gather here from across the country in April, July and November for a special sacrificial ritual. “Benzaiten”, the god of wealth, is enshrined in the temple’s main hall and is reported to be Japan's oldest of the Seven Deities of good luck.
“Minoo Waterfall” is Osaka’s most recommended waterfall in Japan. The large waterfall has a width of 5 meters and height of 33 meters. The large drop creates an impressive view at the base where the water falls in front of you with a white color. The water rapidly flowing down from the rock walls has an impressive amount of force. The way the surface of the water folds back upon hitting protruding rocks is very mysterious. When approaching the waterfall, you can let the sounds of the splashing water and the winds send negative ions throughout your body.
Inside the store you can enjoy lunch and tea time in a calm atmosphere. The authentic roasted luxury beans are always carefully siphoned, the rich flavors and slightly bitter taste is known to be exquisite.

Naoko, our guide, was exceptional in so many ways. First, she was very accommodating on the starting schedule when the weather turned rainy. She lead a leisurely nature walk to the shrine & waterfall, and pointed out features & wildlife that we would have missed. Being a local, she was also able to educate us on Japanese culture including the wabi sabi spirit, filial piety, haiku, and day-to-day life. We really enjoy her company. This tour is the highlight of our Osaka visit.
We had a wonderful time doing this hike with Yukari. Number one, she was an absolute sweetheart. She was very knowledgeable on the history of Japan, the town, and the waterfall. She also gave us suggestions for the rest of our trip through other cities. The hike to the waterfall was a trek but definitely worth it. We highly recommend this tour if you want to go outside of the big city and immerse yourself in nature!
This was such a fun experience! Naoko is such a lovely person. She was very helpful and knowledgeable. I had a great time on the hike and she made me feel so comfortable and safe. I would recommend this as a great experience, not only for small groups but also for solo adventurers. You can't beat getting to have a personal experience with such a top tier local guide and Minoo Path is gorgeous.

I had a lovely time on this tour. Yoshimi did an excellent job. She was very organized, friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoyed walking along the trails and seeing lots of beautiful scenery. While learning and having great conversations with Yoshimi. I would definitely recommend this tour.
What a scenic and beautiful park. The hike was peaceful and filled with picturesque views throughout the journey to the waterfall. Our guide was excellent! She was friendly, her English was excellent and contributed to such a joy-full experience.
It was a great tour - beautiful nature, fresh environment, and Ms Naoko Fukunishi was an excellent tour guide. Unfortunately, the leaves haven’t changed their green color. We wish we could come one month later to enjoy the autumn foliage.
I had an amazing time with Naoko as my tour guide. She was very knowledgeable, well prepared and extremely kind and friendly. The nature was beautiful and the sights are breathtaking. I highly recommend stopping by the insect museum - the butterfly dome was simply magical. Don’t hesitate is you are looking for something out of the ordinary in Osaka area.
Absolute highlight of my trip. The nature walk was gorgeous, the waterfall was so beautiful. Beautiful. My guide was very funny and kind, knowledgeable able to provide good information.
Great views and beautiful waterfall. Even saw a giant Japanese salamander! Our tour guide, Mizuho, was fantastic. She answered all of our questions and was incredibly friendly.
We had an excellent trip through Minoo Park. It was a magical experience full of nature and beautiful views reminiscent of a Ghibli movie. Our guide Mizuho made the experience even more special with her lovely personality. She answered all our questions and curiosities about Japan and it’s culture with a smile and made us feel very welcome. One small side note. We did have to go up 380 rugged stone stairs to the observatory, if you have any joint or hip issues it might be a bit if a struggle. It is optional so that is good as well.
Such a beautiful area. Great walk and exercise. Fresh and crisp air. Tour guide was great. A place to visit.
The tour was an enjoyable experience with breathtaking views! A guided tour is a must to get all the best views and best places to rest and eat. Highly recommend 😊
Our guide Sachi took us from the metro station through the neighborhood and up to a beautiful waterfall. Along the way she explained about the history and culture of the area and we stopped at a Buddhist temple and lit some incense. On the way back we did a little side excursion up some stairs to an amazing view! Then stopped for coffee and sandwiches at a cute cafe in the forest. It was an amazing time we will always remember! Highly recommend this excursion
Nothing special. You see dozens of such waterfalls around the world. Better spend time in the Japanese cities that many of them are pretty unique.
This was 1 of the first activities I did while travelling in Japan. And immediately 1 of the most enjoyable activities. My guide (Sachiyo) was really perfect. She clearly explained everything in the park and in between she asked questions to get to know me a bit and vice versa, she answered my questions. When it turned out we were going to have some time left, she decided to add an extra walk tow where we had a super nice view of the city. This wa a super activity and I would definitely recommend it for those who love nature! Super fun!!! Would do this again!
This tour through Minoo Park was wonderful! The Park itself is very beautiful with a lot of trees, animals and waterfalls. There are also monkeys living in the Park but today we did not get to see them. We passed by amazing picture spots, shrines, an insect museum and some cafes and shops. We didn't go into the museum but I seemed interesting. In the end we went up an elevator which gave us a great view over Minoo and Osaka. In our opinion the walk through the park could have been a bit longer especially because we were done with the tour earlier than planned. Maybe the tour guides could check how fast the tour is progressing and adjust the route through the park a little bit accordingly. Our guide Sachi was the loveliest person! She told us so much about the park, the history and Japanese culture in general and gladly answered all our questions and was so kind to make pictures of us. She was super sweet and we had very nice conversations throughout the whole trip. We also sat down and had some coffee together :) she even brought us back to Umeda station in Osaka! I would say our highlights were the nature of the park itself and of course Sachi herself! I would definitely recommend this tour.
Excellent quality time alongside the peaceful nature. The view was picture perfect and loved it completely. Thank you
My family (2 adults, 1x15yo, 1x12yo) look back in fondness on our nature walk at Minoo Park. We met our guide, Mizuho, in the morning without any issues. She was lovely and made the effort to engage each of us with our varied interests. My 15-year-old got to chat with her about Japanese culture and literature. The autumn leaves, cool weather and fresh air made for a pleasant walk. We had a well-timed pit stop at a coffeehouse idyllically located. It was a tad crowded at the site of the waterfall, so although we managed to view it and take photos, I couldn’t completely relax there. I was recovering from a sprained ankle, so the journey back was a bit of a challenge for me. Thankfully the beautiful surrounds were a good distraction. As I gingerly negotiated my steps down, I was bemused to see fitter locals running along the trails like it was nothing. We tried Minoo’s “maple tempura” at the end of our walk. It was delicious! If you like nature, I strongly recommend this experience.
Our nature walk turned out to be one of our best experiences with such beautiful views and the sweetest, most helpful guides Mihuzo and Etsuko. Their knowledge and consideration made the walk so much more enjoyable for my daughter and I. Mihuzo went out of her way to go with us on the first part of our train journey back which we appreciated. Minoo Falls is a must see if you are visiting Osaka
It was a wonderful experience and the scenery was superb. Our guide was very helpful & knowledgeable.
Our guide Akari was fantastic. She had a wealth of knowledge of the area and also its history. Akari adjusted the tour to our needs and was always accommodating to our needs. She went out of her way to help us when she discovered we have taken the wrong train and got lost. Highly recommend this tour.
A beautifiul walk through amazing scenery. Well worth the effort (it's a long walk). Sachiyo, my guide was lovely and informative, and helped to trim down the timeline as I needed to get back earlier than originally planned. Highly recommended!
We have had a great day with a fantastic guide. Great tour in the park and a very good lunch. A quiet place and good local sake.
Minoo-koen was beautiful. Weather was chilly. Our tour guide was there on time, and met us right where we agreed on. He's so friendly and a great historian. The trail/path was long and a bit tiring, but amazing colors of the autumn leaves that adorned the road were mesmerizing. You wouldn't feel the tiredness at all. We took a lot of pictures and here's a couple of them. The coffee and cake was delicious and brought a touch of Europe in Minoo-koen. Will surely going back again soon.
Another fantastic walking tour with a great company and fantastic guide. The Insect Museum was also a great option. The footspa to finish off was perfect!
