Eat around as walking through Kuromon market Kuromon Market is a shopping street located in Minami, the center of Osaka City. The market got its name from the black mountain gate of Enmyoji Temple, which was located nearby. The specialty is conger eel in summer and puffer fish in winter, and about 10% of the fresh fish stores have puffer fish specialty signs. There are about 150 stores under the 580-meter-long arcade, and the street is always bustling with people. From fresh fish stores to puffer fish and soft-shelled turtle specialty stores, restaurants, and shops selling vegetables, fruit, meat, pickles, dried goods, Japanese sweets, and Western sweets, the street is packed with a variety of shops, and wherever you look, it is full of the lively energy of a market. The fresh fish stores sell skewered seafood, the fruit stores sell fresh juice, and the tea stores sell matcha soft serve ice cream.
Pass by Nanba Grand Kagetsu Namba Grand Kagetsu is a comedy and comedy theater operated by Yoshimoto Kogyo, located in Chuo-ku, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture.
Pass by Namba area in Osaka Namba is a high-energy entertainment district with a buzzing commute from the interchange station. The Namba Parks complex features boutiques, restaurants serving Southeast Asian cuisine and a roof garden within the mall, while pop culture "otaku" shop for video games and comic books at Den-Den Town. The backstreets of Hozenji are lined with lively izakayas, and the National Bunraku Theatre offers traditional puppet theatre.
Pass by Dotombori area in Osaka Dotonbori, with its rows of giant three-dimensional billboards such as the Shochikuza Theater, Kani Douraku, and the Glico sign, is a representative entertainment district in Osaka's Minami area. The name Dotonbori comes from Yasui Doton, who donated his personal fortune to dig the river in 1612. After that, it flourished as an entertainment district for theater and kabuki, and the number of teahouses and other establishments increased, becoming the basis for the current food and live entertainment district.

Very nice tour with a Local. If you want to experience the small Japanese shops, that are not crowded with tourists, this is for you.
Great tour! Mich was our guide and she was super knowledgeable about the history of food in Osaka, and honest about market pricing which we really appreciated. In addition to the bites we got on the tour, she also recommended some good spots to come back to later and took us on a little walking tour through some of the tourist areas of Namba. Definitely recommend for a day trip or at the beginning of your visit to Osaka to get a good lay of the land!
Meg was an excellent guide who helped us taste our way through Osaka!
Discovering hidden gems in the busy city of Osaka, such as Hozenji Temple& Hozenji Yokocho Shrine which are tucked away in the back alleys but so worth visiting. Learning the culinary history of the regions of Japan. Mich had wonderful knowledge and was extremely friendly.
We arrived to Osaka at 9:00 and had our tour at 11:00. It was an amazing experience and great start of our visit to Osaka! A huge thank you to MARI, our wonderful guide, who made the tour even more memorable, authentic, and fun. Every food stop was thoughtfully selected, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations - everything was delicious and truly authentic. We were a group of four, and every single one of us loved it. Highly recommended! Greetings from Lithuania! MARI, sending you hugs!
Yusuke was awesome! nice quick tour of the market and navigating through the countless options to some that are not super overpriced. Covered some brief info about Osaka (didn't take away from the actual food part) and was more then willing to change things on the fly if you had a different interest on what kind of food to try. Also left us with a countless recommendations that we could explore on our own both food and non food related. thanks for the great experience.
Tour: Kuromon Market Food Tour (MagicalTrip Inc.) Guide: Micha Group: 2 retired couples (4 people total) As avid travelers who prioritize food tours whenever we visit a new destination, this was unfortunately our least favorite experience. While the tour had great potential and contained interesting commentary from our guide, Micha, it left our group completely unsatisfied—to the point where we had to go sit down for a full lunch immediately after the two-hour tour ended. A few key areas where the experience fell short: Inadequate Portion Sizes: The tastings were extremely limited. At one point, our guide bought just two pastries for the four of us to divide and share. If we had been four individual strangers traveling together instead of two couples, would we have been expected to share a pastry? That was a first for us on any food tour. Missed Opportunities in the Market: Kuromon Market is famous for its incredible array of fresh seafood, yet across two hours, our only seafood sample was a single piece of a sushi roll. Micha often stopped to explain various local specialties and delicacies at length, only for us to walk away without trying them. Technicalities on "Tastings": The tour description promised 5–6 food tastings, which was technically met, but only because small pieces of fruit were counted as distinct stops. It was unclear whether these strict limitations came from budget constraints imposed by MagicalTrip Inc. or choices made by the guide, but the overall value fell well short of expectations. The market itself is fantastic and the history is compelling, but unless the tasting portions and selection are significantly improved, it is hard to recommend this specific tour.
We met our guide Mari as planned and she was a delightful wealth of knowledge! Mari led us through the Kuromon Market and we experienced Takoyaki tasting - to my delight and my wife’s surprise. Didn’t like the soy milk but everything else was delicious. We enjoyed Mari’s company and her humour. The price was good for the 2 hours excursion.
Our Kuromon Market food walking tour with Meg was one of the highlights of our time in Osaka! Over 2 hours, she took us to six great stops, and every tasting was delicious. We would never have found some of these places or known what to order on our own. Meg was warm, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. She shared the history of the market and the stories behind each dish, and she gave us tips on Japanese food culture that we used for the rest of our trip. She moved us through the busy market easily and made sure we had time to enjoy each bite and ask questions. The pace was relaxed, the portions were generous, and we left full and happy. If you’re visiting Osaka and love food, book this tour, and ask for Meg if you can. Highly recommend!
This tour was the highlight of our time in Osaka! Jimmy and Seiya were fantastic guides, giving us context and history for the places we visited in the market and giving us access to places we otherwise wouldn’t have seen or had access to. The food we tried was terrific as well, and we were surprised by how generous the offerings were! Jimmy also took pictures of us through the tour, which was a lovely bonus. Can’t recommend enough!
Jimmy was a terrific guide who could lead us through the history and the specialties of the market - starting with something as simple as a persimmon and then bringing us to specialties that you’d never have found on your own - the 103-year old soy milk merchant, for example, but there were several others. Lots of fun, good food, learned a lot.
Jimmy was great, the food tour was great value for money, and he took us to a ton of places. The most important thing to me was that he took us to a lot of non-tourist spots so we could see what 'real' japanese food was like, run by multiple generations of japanese families in some instances. Jimmy is also amazing himself, really entertaining with great social skills and english so you can actually have a conversation with him.
Jimmy was a great guide who knew all the best local food spots, avoiding tourist traps. We tried lots of delicious, authentic Osaka and Japanese specialities. Highly recommend!
Jimmy was an excellent guide and we have a really fun two hours exploring the food market and trying lots of different dishes. I would highly recommend!
Really relaxing and informative food tour. Nice small group. Not too crowded. Tasted a diverse range of local tasty foods with no pressure. Jimmy was a good communicator- enjoyed this trip and would thoroughly recommend.
Great tour. Tasted this and that and things never before seen. Jimmy was an excellent guide and his casual and friendly nature made the tasting tour most enjoyable.
Jimmy gave us a great walking street food tour of the Kuromon Market. He took the time to find out our comfort level with trying new foods, & we enjoyed many different samples. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour. Thank you Jimmy. Wonderful tour.
We had a great time with Jimmy. Great tastes and great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Reiko was friendly and professional. Showed us Kuromon market and Dontobori. What a great experience!
Reiko our guide was ‘Subarashi’ , got us to try all the amazing foods of the market, gyoza, sea urchin and even puffer fish. The market was alive and vibrant. Would highly recommend all visitors who are looking for a taste experience extravaganza of Japan.

We had a perfect organized and fun private tour with Meg! She knows a lot about Osaka and she is a good chat.
Great personal tour by Meg. She knows the ins and outs
Mich was excellent...very informative and good fun!
Highly recommend! Kuromon Market has amazing food choices. Having a knowledgeable guide navigate made this such a positive experience. Jimmy was fun, and funny, and passionate about the food. He was great at checking in on my comfort level, as I tried lots of firsts (and all quite delicious)! I learned a lot and lol, ate a lot. It was so much fun!
Fab experience with Jimmy today who was v knowledgeable and we had a fun morning
Excelent market Tour in Osaka with Meg
As my partner was sick, I went on this tour alone and it turned out I was the only participant! My guide, Yuki, made me feel at ease right away. She was very enthusiastic and recommend all kinds of marvellous food. I even got to try fugu! Yuki also kindly explained the history of the places we visited. We ended the tour with some delicious candied apple in Dotonbori. I recommend this tour to everyone who is curious about Osaka cuisine and its history. Thank you very much, Yuki, for such a wonderful time!
Enjoyable and interesting food tour with Mari who was very knowledgeable about Japanese food and spoke excellent English. She introduced us to some lovely food that we had not experienced before and provided an informative tour of Kurumon Market and the surrounding area. We highly recommend Mari to anyone thinking of doing a food tour.
This was quite a fun entertaining way to learn some history about Osaka and taste some local food. I was hoping this would give us an insight into how to navigate menus which it didn’t but I am still glad we did it.
Mitch was on time, and had really great English! She was super informative and a great guide! We thought that the food samples were a little bit light on? But she did tell us that at the beginning. All in all was a great tour.
This was a wonderful experience. We enjoyed tasting the food. The guide was so friendly and knowledgeable.
Our guide, Hide, was very great and personable. He walked us around the area, explaining the local dishes. He also was great at trying to cater to what we would be interested in by asking if there was anything specific wanting to try. Happy with the experience.
Our guide gave us a lot of interesting insights in food and culture.
Naomi was Warm, welcoming, and very knowledgeable. We had a fantastic tour. Thank you !
Guide was amazing, tour was fun and interesting
Niko was very attenrive, funny and super nice. 100% reccomended
Excellent guide and experience
This was so much fun. Our guide got to know us then took us on the perfect tour. We had a mix of things with which we were familiar (like sushi rolls) and brand new things (like takoyaki). Our guide was chatty and engaged my teenagers in lots of conversation. I would take this tour again and recommend it to anyone wanting a food adventure in Osaka!
Mari was so knowledgeable about all the good spots! I enjoyed this tour! I would highly recommend to someone looking to dip their toes in the water for Japanese food.
This was a great way to experience different foods in Osaka. We were so happy with our tour guide, Niko. She really made the tour very enjoyable for us and she was a very kind and lovely host. She also made the tour very fun, we had a laugh, she also made sure we got to try very unique foods. She was very knowledgeable, it was a great way to spend a couple of hours, highly recommend this 😊
We all had a great day. Choices of food samplings were varied and suited our group. Our guide was very knowledgeable and answered lots of questions we had not only about the food but other things in Japan. Highly recommended.
Wow. Food was amazing, vibes were excellent and knowledgeable tour guide!
We got a lovely introduction in the Osaka food culture and tried some dishes we would not have found otherwise. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. After the food market she also showed parts of the surrounding area, so we got a few pointers for further exploration of Osaka.
Great guide Wonderful tour A lot of Japanese food
Great tour guide, super friendly and fun, but I don’t think the food we tried and the portion sizes were worth the price paid.
A great taste of Osaka. Lots to try!
We really enjoyed this food tour! It took us to places we never would have stopped at on our own, and every stop was delicious. It was a great way to experience the local food scene and discover hidden gems. Highly recommend!
