Hungry Osaka Street Food Tour : 15 Tastings And 4 Drinks

Daniel was such a fun tour guide. He had so many stories and tips and tricks on how to make the most of our trip. He truly knows the city like the back of his hand and we even learned a bit of history about the area too! The food was delicious and every part of the tour truly felt like "But wait- Theres more!" We all had a great time!

I booked this tour hoping to discover some hidden gems of restaurants and I was not disappointed. Even though I was familiar with most dishes since before (and I’ve been skeptical about takoyaki from past experiences) I enjoyed everything during this tour immensely. It exceeded my expectations by far. All restaurant choices were perfect and the staff was so kind. You could feel the cozy atmsphere in some of the family-owned businesses. We were a total of 9 people in our group, some traveling solo like myself, others in groups. It was a good mix of people, and the perfect sized group. We all had an amazing time, and half of it can be attributed to our fantastic guide Andy. His jokes helped break the ice in the beginning of the evening and his recommendations from the drink menues were spot on every time. He also offered interesting trivia about Japan in general and Osaka in particular. This tour is a good option both for newcomers who have just arrived in Osaka as well as return visitors who think they’ve tried all the good food in Osaka - you will definitely find a new favorite on this food tour.

Kenzo was a wonderful guide for the evening. He has a genuine connection with Osaka and it came through in his narration of the tour. We felt like we got a truly unique experience. The group size was good - not too big, not too small. There was plenty of food offered and they catered well to a shellfish allergy in the group. Highly recommend!

Our host was Matt for the event. He was super easy to get along and energetic. It was easy to tell his love for the kitchen of the city and he also added some fun facts. The foods were really delicious, would recommend it hundred percent.

The tour was incredible! Besides the amazing food, we had Dylan with us, who made everything even better. We visited super typical, extremely flavorful restaurants that allowed us to experience Osaka through the eyes of locals. Dylan constantly shared stories, and interesting trivia, and was always attentive to all our questions. With his dash of humor, he made the tour incredible. I highly recommend it—it is definitely worth it for the food, and be sure to ask for Dylan to be your guide.

Had a great night of delicious food and a fun time with guide Matt. The group was lovely and we all had a good time. We had plenty of food and drinks as well as gaining some insights into the Shinsekai area.

Julie is a professionally trained chef who taught us about the history and meaning of a number of dishes that are unique to Osaka. Her tour includes 15 food samples and multiple drinks across 5 restaurants (I think - I lost count!). Our group was stuffed, and I left very woozy 🤣🤣 from sampling three delicious alcoholic drinks. If you're looking for a "can't miss" tour, you'll love Julie's expert insights and playful spirit.

The best tour by far that we have been on while in Japan. There was a good variety of food and drinks. Everything was delicious. Our guide Julie was personable, funny and super knowledgeable about the area and the food and drinks we sampled. I'd highly recommend this food tour to anyone interested in sampling some of Osaka's best while having fun.

This was such a highlight of my Osaka visit! Anna was the absolute best tour guide - she shared insights about Osaka, and Japan, and food in the area. She knew all the best places (and gave pointers on how to avoid the tourist traps!), and was so much fun to spend the evening with. You meet at Ebisucho Station and head into Shinsekai after dark—the old Osaka neighborhood that still feels like itself, with Tsutenkaku glowing above the neon and the smell of frying oil hanging in the air. This is the Hungry Osaka Street Food Tour: three hours, five local spots, a parade of takoyaki, kushikatsu, karaage, oden, yakitori, and whatever else the night brings, plus a few drinks. The food is good. Real, hot, and the kind of stuff people actually eat here. But the tour works because of Davin. He’s the guide, and he’s the difference. Davin knows the neighborhood cold—the history, the family-run places, why this stall does it one way and that izakaya does it another. He doesn’t lecture. He talks, asks questions, and actually listens to whoever’s standing next to him. By the second stop he’s checked in with everyone in the group, remembered names, and pulled people into the conversation instead of talking over them. He’s proud of the place, too. Not in a polished tour-guide way, but in the way someone is proud of their town and their family. You can hear it when he points out a shop or tells a story about how something got made or who runs the kitchen. It feels personal. The tastings land—crispy skewers, batter-fried things with the right sauce, hot soup, cold drinks—and you leave full. But you remember the walk between places more than any single plate, because that’s when Davin fills in the gaps and makes the whole thing feel like you’re just out with someone who knows the city and wants you to get it. Small group, easy pace, ends near the station. If you’re going to do a food tour in Osaka, get Davin. The food is solid. He’s what makes it worth doing.
