One of the highlights of our whole trip! Kano-san, our host, was so lovely - professional yet friendly. She spoke excellent English and gave great instructions for the cooking lesson. Loved all of it and the dish at the end was really tasty. Went with my husband and 17 year old son (who isn't particularly interested in cooking) and all of us thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely book!

Set in a very old and charming Japanese izakaya, Miyu hosted an experience we’ll always remember fondly. It was so much fun learning how to make our udon noodles from scratch, create a delicious cucumber side dish and tempura vegetables like a pro! The food was delicious, the vibe was on and the cultural exchange was fun and funny. We learned so much and would recommend this to everyone visiting Osaka who loves the culture of food.
This was a nice experience and something a little different from the busy and loud pace of Osaka. The venue is in a traditional (very old) house that has been restored and serves as a space for a few businesses. The cooking class was in a small, atmospheric room (with air conditioning) and enough space for 2 couples in the class as well as the instructor. Our instructor Miyu was pleasant; she gave clear instructions and encouragement, she was gentle and kind and engaged in conversation along the way. We cooked udon noodles from scratch, a couple of sauces, tempura chicken and veggies, and prepared and pickled cucumber. Then sat and enjoyed the meal together. We came away with some new techniques and recipes. I think for the price they could have included one drink (although the drinks weren’t expensive, they were an extra cost). It was a fun and relaxing evening and I would recommend this experience as something a little differ ent in Osaka
We had the most amazing experience at our cooking class. It was in an old Japanese home, not a sterile cooking school. It made the experience more authentic. Our chef was amazing! She walked us through every step with expertise. All throughout the class she took candid pictures and videos so that we have lasting memories. I would highly recommend this activity and we can't wait to go home and make what we learned for our family and friends.
We had a wonderfull appointement with Kano. The class was really great. We were lucky that there were only the two of us, so Kano was able to give us personalized attention. Later, over dinner, she gave us some personal tips on schopping and exploring the city further. We also laughed a lot. We 100% recommend this class!
Rina was very informative and made this class interesting and fun. Our family takes a cooking class everywhere we travel to and this one was by far our favorite. Instead of pitching in to make a large meal, everyone was able to make their own meal. Thank you Rina for your genuine love to teach others your passion for cooking.
Rina was an amazing host! We had so much fun! :) Can really recommend
We had a great time making delicious food with Rina. She was an excellent teacher who was knowledgeable and fun. We highly recommend this experience!
This was a great cooking class and authentic, the owner and chef was very friendly and great at her craft!!!
We had a wonderful time cooking with Mui. Her guidance was amazing and we learnt more about Japanese culture. Well worth it!
A highlight of our trip to Osaka! Instead of the usual street food experience, we chose a hands-on class making udon noodles, tempura, and Japanese pickles. It gave us a whole new appreciation for the skill and craftsmanship behind these seemingly simple dishes. Rina was an exceptional teacher—warm, encouraging, and fluent in English. She patiently guided us through every step, kept our tea cups full while we cooked, and made the experience so enjoyable for our whole family. She also took wonderful family photos, sent them to us along with all of the recipes before we left, and even shared her favorite local restaurant and knife shop recommendations. If you’re looking for an authentic and memorable culinary experience in Osaka, I couldn’t recommend this class more highly. Thank you, Rina!
What a great way to learn about some of the cultures and street food of Japan, by making Udon noodles, tempura and pickled cucumber salad. Miya was very friendly, an excellent teacher and also gave us many tips about local spices and useful Japanese kitchen accessories. The food we cooked, in a lovely authentic setting, was delicious! Topped off by a welcome drink and a digital recipe book at the end, this was a fun and heart warming experience. Perfect for solo travellers and small groups. 4 minutes from nearest metro and easy to find. Perfect!
Guided cooking workshop in an authentic environment. Wonderful process and delicious food. Received a PDF with the recipe and ingredients afterwards. Great fun for family and small groups.
This was such a great experience. The venue.was easy to find and close to the station. The house itself is beautiful and a lovely space to be in. Guidance on making the various dishes was super easy to follow and I'll absolutely be using some of the techniques again (especially the soba noodles!) I was the only student so we had a great chat about all kinds of things , the 2 hours absolutely flew by. Highly recommended
The cooking class was a great experience in a beautiful traditional Japanese kitchen. The group was small and intimate and our chef/teacher was lovely. It was nice to sit down at the end and eat the delicious food we made.
Our guide, Rina, taught my husband and I, as well as two other couples, to make udon noodles and a dip, a pickled cucumber salad, as well as chicken and vegetable tempura. It was a fun, easygoing atmosphere; we learned a lot and really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended!
Super friendly chef who helped prepare a delicious meal! I feel confident that I will be able to cook the meal again back home. The chef accompanied me to a nearby grocery store and helped me buy a couple of ingredients. The whole experience was great including the gorgeous authentic Japanese kitchen!
Amazing experience to complete our stay I Japan. Chef Rina was so friendly and welcoming to the kitchen. My wife and I felt so comfortable during this class. We made Udon Noodles with a dipping sauce with Tempura and pickled cucumber. The recipe was easy to follow and Rina guided us through. The food turned out perfect. Experience is great and I would highly recommend Eat Osaka and ask for Chef Rina.
Kano made our experience phenomenal! She was patient, kind, professional, and funny every step of the way. Our food turned out deliciously and we left feeling like we made a friend too! Everyone should take a class here while they’re in Kyoto.
We had such a fun time in this cooking class. We were trying to find something small and personal….this was it! Only four people in the class in a very quaint building and kitchen. Our teacher, Miyu was delightful. She made the whole experience perfect. We highly recommend Eat Osaka! Thanks!
Had the best time with Miyu! We've done a few cooking courses in various countries and always been slightly disappointed by what you get to do but this was brilliant. Small group, just the 4 of us, great atmosphere and a lot of fun both making the food and learning a little bit more about Japan and some useful phrases. The food was also delicious and Miyu is so sweet but with a great sense of humour. Highly recommend, this is one of our trip highlights for sure! We also left full, it was more food than we expected.
The class was cancelled quite late in the evening the night before due to the teacher for the next day being sick. However, after waiting for the last, almost 2 months, efforts to process a refund has been ignored (even after being told that this would be possible). Communications have been relatively difficult with Eat Osaka.
I absolutely recommend this activity! This was an expertly run cooking class. We were a family of 4 (3 adults and 1 teen). This is a highlight of our Japan trip. The guide was warm, inviting and so helpful. We were given the recipes so we are now inspired to make the meal when we get home. Loved it!
Kano was an excellent host and highly recommend this cooking experience. 2.5 hours well spent
Our cooking experience with Eat Osaka was a highlight of our trip. We learned how to make homemade noodles, tempura, a yummy sesame sauce and much more. It was fun, educational and so delicious. Our chef & teacher couldn’t have been more encouraging and knowledgeable and helpful. I would definitely take a class from her again.
We enjoyed this experience very much! Nice tiny kitchen in a typical Japanese House. Very friendly and competent „Chef“ of the kitchen! The food was easy to cook because of the good explainations and it was very tasty. We had an realy entertaining afternoon!
Five star service, the building was stunnigg by the food was excellent on of the best cooking classes I have done.
Very fun hands on cooking class. Instructir was very kind and welcoming. And the end product was delicious.
We had wonderful experience here with Rina making and cooking udon, pickled cucumbers and tempura. The class wasn’t to crowded which made for a nice friendly atmosphere.
My family truly enjoyed our Eat Osaka cooking experience. My two grandsons, ages 5 and 7 what to take another cooking class! Everything was so organized. We truly enjoyed our home cooked meal!
We had a wonderful experience and loved everything about the cooking class with Miya! She was a great teacher, with amazing English. Truly a family memory to last a lifetime. Eat Osaka was in a really great location and was super clean. Thank you!
My husband and I had a lovely time with this cooking class! Our host was so kind and fun to chat with, we loved trading stories with her and learning more about how the dishes were traditionally made. We would 10/10 recommend this to other couples!
We had an amazing time. Rina and Nathalie were very helpful and knowledgeable. The food was delicious.
My daughter and I joined in this cooking class and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The instructor spoke excellent English and made the experience a lot of fun. The recipes were simple yet delicious and I’m sure we can replicate them at home. Unfortunately the recipe link sent to us hasn’t worked. A nice touch was being able to try different chef knives which they sell. My daughter surprised me by buying one of the beautiful knives for me as a Christmas gift. All in all, it was a fabulous experience. Highly recommend!
Kakano was an excellent chef and teacher. Very friendly and a lot of fun. She was very helpful and gave great advice on local food and shopping - where we could buy some kitchen equipment to make the food at home. Excellent English and taught us Japanese words. Would definitely recommend
The cooking session was exceptionally well-structured and informative. I gained valuable culinary skills in a welcoming environment. The instructor was very kind and friendly! Highly recommended
Incredible experience, everything was incredible, from the setting to the meal. It was a great way to experience Japanese food and can honestly say it's one of my favourite meals from my time in Japan
My partner and I went for a cooking class here and honestly it will be one of our most treasured memories of our trip to Japan! Miyu was our host/chef and she was the sweetest person ever, we had a really good time together!! She was a very good teacher and made the whole experience so much fun. Thankyou Miyu!! <3 Love from Angel & Harry
It was a beautiful experience, myself and my husband enjoyed ourselves so much. We also fortunately had a lovely couple who recently got engaged also book the same class on the same day, and all together it was lovely getting to know our lovely two chefs and the other couple as well. Great experience. Highly recommend if you are able to visit Osaka to do this activity!
We did this class as part of our honeymoon whilst in Osaka and it was fantastic. It was a great alternative activity to rest of the sightseeing we did during our trip and was a lovely way to learn about the culture through making the food ourselves. We made a selection of different dishes which were all delicious and there were drinks available to purchase during the class too. It was also a nice touch to be sent the recipes for everything we made so that we could cook them at home as well.
Amazing trip to Osaka made even better with a wonderful cooking class. Udon dipping noodles, pickled cucumber, and tempura from scratch! We had the pleasure of learning from an excellent instructor who took her time to diligently explain each step of the process and the differences between other methods! We are so happy we booked this class and recommend it to anyone who wants to take a deeper dive into the Osaka culinary culture. Pro tip: we went to the small craft beer bar in the back of the building after and it was perfect. Great pours of Japanese beer and phenomenal pork curry! While we were full from the class, we couldn’t resist the smell coming from the kitchen and had to try it.
Absolutely loved Eat Osaka. Our teacher was fantastic — super knowledgeable, engaging, and made the whole experience really enjoyable. The food was great, drinks were great, everything was clean, and the location was perfect. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Osaka.
Amazing experience! Highly recommend this cooking class. It was so personal and so much fun and the guide was very kind and knowledgeable
Wonderful cooking experience in a small / authentic home and setting. The small group (4 ppl!) made the moment more special and personalized. Highly recommend.
Had a fantastic experience with Bennett. I’m traveling solo and this was a great way to meet people from all over the world. He made sure everyone was taken care of and very knowledgeable about Osaka. Was able to try food I wouldn’t have never thought to try
We had a fantastic time at this street food cookery class in Osaka. It was great meeting another couple from Ireland, and we really enjoyed making noodles and vegetable tempura. The experience was fun, easy to follow, and surprisingly simple to recreate. We were also given written recipes and instructions to take home, which was a lovely touch. The food was delicious, and our facilitator was warm, helpful, and shared fascinating insights into Japanese food and culture. Highly recommend!
What a fun learning experience. The food we made was even good, and I think I will be able to make some of it at home. My husband, a non- cook, even enjoyed it. A great way to finish up our trip to Japan.
Our cooking class was fabulous! Niki, our teacher, was so friendly and knowledgeable, she was a delight. The location was perfect, a gorgeous old townhouse. The menu was excellent, we learnt wonderful techniques we’d never used before. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, thank you! 🙏
Our cooking class with Mikki was so great! She was so kind and taught us a lot about the Japanese culture. The food was also delicious, especially the udon noodles with the dipping sauce! We plan to make these recipes at home in the near future. Thanks so much for a lovely cooking experience in Osaka!
Amazing experience! We really enjoyed the class and our teacher. She talked us through the cooking process each step at a time, and the food was fantastic. Would recommend this to anyone in the Osaka area!
