Brian was an excellent guide, with deep knowledge of Osaka, Japan's history, and the local food scene. He was engaging and clearly cared about making the tour a good experience for everyone. We tried a solid range of Osaka's well-known street foods and left completely full. Well worth the money. We also enjoyed meeting the other folks joining the tour from all around the world and sharing about our trips.

We recently went on the Deep Backstreets Osaka tour with our guide Mari. As tour guides go, she was exceptional. Her love for Japanese history and culture was evident throughout. She speaks amazing English so was able to share all of her knowledge very clearly. We also opted for the dinner after the tour, which was a fun addition. It was a great way to spend an evening in Osaka.

Brian was a fantastic guide, he made accommodations during the more intense moments and explained the history of the area with really interesting and unique details. Me and my partner loved the experience. The dinner at the end was great too, it was an omakase format with sushi, beef, salad, and vegetarian options.

He showed us hidden corners and places we would never have discovered on our own, sharing lots of great information along the way. He was also very respectful of the area and its surroundings, which made the experience even better. It was a different and unique tour, and I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it!!

My husband and I did the Backstreets tour on Oct 4 with Taka as our guide. We had a great time learning more about the “dark side” of Osaka. Even though it was raining we still had an amazing time and learned a lot about Osaka. Taka had great energy and deep knowledge about the history of Japan. It felt like we briefly covered many parts of Japanese culture, specifically Osaka culture, from religion to food to global relations. At the end of the night, we had dinner with the tour at a local bar. The tour was great with accommodating for dietary restrictions. We highly recommend this experience. It was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Okinii!!!

My husband and I took the Back Streets of Osaka tour. Our guide, Taka was so knowledgeable of Osaka and welcoming to us! Over the course of the tour, it covered about 10 stops. Taka left time for as many questions as we wanted and shared his own thoughts and opinions with us about Japanese culture. I knew a bit about the major topics that were covered in the tour, but to see some of the areas firsthand gave me a deeper understanding. Even though you’re going to some sketchy areas, I never felt unsafe. The tour ended with a dinner of many different dishes to try, and you eat at the counter with the people in your group. They were also accommodating to dietary restrictions, but definitely let them know ahead of time if you have them. One thing to note: I was really impressed with the amount of communication of the tour company. They gave a friendly reminder email and communicated about a meeting spot. They also reached out over WhatsApp to confirm and gave a helpful hint on bringing rain gear, as Osaka was expecting a lot of rain that evening. Overall, the value of the experience was high and would greatly recommend to anyone.

The tour offered a different side to Osaka. It was informative and entertaining.

I happy to have Bryan as my tour guide tonight. He knows the area very well both about history and geography. It’s interesting to get to know both good and bad neighborhoods during the tour. At the end of the tour, Bryan also showed us the way back to the hotel, that is very nice of him .

Very breezy walk around Osaka's backstreets, including the roughest neighborhood in Japan - which means perfectly safe. Tour was conducted by the knowledgeable and friendly tour guide Brian, and I would definitely recommend for a different look at Osaka

Rutti , our guide , who has lived in the country for a decade was very knowledgeable. It’s a 3 hour walking tour where we got see the parts of Japan nobody talks about . The highlight of the trip isn’t the places we got to see but the conversations we had about “taboo” topics . The goal is not to paint Japan in a bad light but to get a wholistic picture . 10/10 recommend

Marie was a great guide! She was so sweet and she explained everything well. I would definitely recommend if you want to see some of the less touristic parts of Osaka.

Brian did an awesome tour of the less shiny streets and locations of Ōsaka. The informations were very detailed and solid. If you are bored of the glamourous and lame places than this is the right thing for you.

A very thorough tour of Osaka with a particular focus on areas that you would likely miss out as a tourist. Bryan was meticulous and insightful, and the tour is more comprehensive than you would expect! The udon noodles pit stop was a nice surprise

We explored the streets of Osaka with Taka who is a local to the area. He was funny, knowledgeable and very open about Japan and its culture. If you are after a unique walking tour, then this is for you. The food at the end of the tour was authentic and plentiful.

A truly uncommon glimpse into the less savory sides of japan - and also more food than I know how to digest. All in all, I'm happy.

Brian was a fountain of knowledge and very entertaining! We had a fantastic time on the tour and feel like we left with a deeper understanding of Osaka and Japan.
