First I would like to say this hotel deserves more than a five star rating. Every person who's is employed here shows each and every visitor the upmost respect. That are quick to help, showing each and every hotel dweller how to check in, how the room card works. I have never been showered so much respect compassion. I have to say this has been the most relaxing stay I have every had at a hotel. This establishment was well thought out. The bath house and spa is top tier. I believe the customer service is unmatched. The morning breakfast is a tradition Japanese style and is quite delicious. Rooms are well maintained and cleaned everyday, unless specific otherwise by place a magnetic sticker on the outside of the door. Warming environment, with very genuine customers service the best yet.

We stayed at Hotel Villa Fontaine Grand Osaka Umeda from 23 to 28 May 2026. The location was excellent and made it very easy to explore Osaka and use public transportation. We never had any issues with the staff. Everyone was polite, respectful and genuinely willing to help. Our first room had a few issues, and after we mentioned them, the team took our concerns seriously and worked through them one by one. We were eventually moved to another room, which we appreciated. There were still a few small things that could be improved. The pillow had a slight smell, and we occasionally noticed tiny bits of dust or debris that suggested housekeeping may have missed a few details. The bathroom and toilet layout was also not the most practical, and like the Tokyo property, some rooms are quite a long walk from the elevators. What stayed with us most was not the problems themselves, but the way the staff handled them. They listened, they cared, and they genuinely tried to improve our experience. Because of that, we left with a positive impression overall.
Because the area around the hotel is quite complicated, Google Maps and other navigation apps may not work accurately. If you arrive at Osaka Station, Umeda Station, or any nearby station, I highly recommend using the underground passages after exiting the station. It’s also the best option when the weather is bad or if you have heavy luggage. You actually don’t need navigation. Once you’re in the underground passage, just follow the direction signs for the purple Tanimachi Line (Subway Tanimachi Line). You are NOT taking the subway — simply follow the arrows on the signs. Keep walking until you reach Exit 2 of the Subway Tanimachi Line. Take the elevator up to street level (1F), turn right at the 7-Eleven convenience store, then walk straight for about 1 minute and you’ll arrive at the hotel.
Overall, the stay was not bad. The location was good (right in the heart of night life), the spa was on the smaller side (compared to other hotels in Japan we stayed at) but the sauna was a nice touch. Lighting in the room is a bit too dim even with all the lights on, but that's not really a concern. Hallways smelled of smoke most nights, but the rooms were always clean. My biggest gripe was the Wi-Fi. It kept disconnecting on all our devices and when it was connected, it was extremely slow. I tried uploading a 2 GB video to my Google drive which took 8 hrs, took forever to load a YouTube video and always played at 480p, and I could almost never use Google maps on the wifi. I ended up using data most of the time at our hotel because it was faster. Overall, I would likely stay here again if the wifi was better.
We stayed for 7 nights with our 18-month-old in the Kagari room and truly enjoyed our stay. The room was very clean and cozy, and the housekeeping service was impeccable. We noticed many families traveling with children, which made the hotel feel very family-friendly. The location is also excellent. We would definitely recommend this hotel!
