I am writing this review solely because of the front desk staff—everything else is secondary. We stayed as a group of 7, and the level of service from the reception team genuinely caused a shock. Special thanks to Sandy at the front desk, who treated every single one of us like royalty, going above and beyond to assist with all our questions and issues. Such care and dedication are astonishing. ❤️ For context on the rest of the hotel: the rooms are not huge but cozy, Dotonbori is a 15–20 minute walk away, and a 7-Eleven is right across the street. (The bathroom exhaust fan does sound like an airplane taking off, though!). But all of that fades in comparison to Sandy and the incredible team at the front desk. Absolutely unmatched hospitality.

The rooms numbered 01(501/601 etc) are terrible. If you get assigned one, refuse to take it. No outside views of any type- the windows are frosted and shut. Combined with low ceiling height the room feels claustrophobic and cramped. There is only 1 sink and a tiny shower. The part of the room shown with the diagonal slant windows/lights in the photos is totally UNUSABLE. A badly placed curtain takes up about 60sq ft of space along the entire length so there is NO ROOM for any of your luggage. At check in, we thought it strange that they explicitly mentioned to keep the luggage off the beds for cleaning day. The staff are probably aware that the room has no space to open a single full size suitcase, or even a few small ones. The room has no closet at all and a tiny hanging area. The hotel sells this room for sleeping 6, (we were 5) but probably assumes they come just with the clothes on their back! It is the shittiest accommodation we have stayed in our entire 18 day, multi-city stay in Japan, despite costing around $170/night on Expedia. It’s not close to any train station and the neighborhood is lackluster. Don’t waste your $$ staying here. Expedia should end their collaboration with this property/location. Update: Sandy at the front desk helped us out and changed our room, and the other room was much better. No wonky curtains and better organized space, two sinks and better aircon. Our family was much more comfortable! They also gave us a late checkout to compensate and helped out with our luggage moving as well as with the luggage forwarding service. Thank you Sandy for making our stay so much better, and salvaging our stay in Osaka.
My family (four, 2 adults, 2 kids) had an enjoyable stay at the hotel. We are tall (hubby 6ft, teen 5ft 9, son 4ft and me 5ft 7) family from NYC and need spaces for our luggages and a comfy bed that fit us. The hotel is walking distance to metro, local eateries, coffee shops (Zen Zen, Osaru cafes), 7-11 and fast food (Pizza Hut, domino’s). Highly recommended to any travelers that looking for a comfortable and convenient stay while visiting Osaka.
We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Monday in Osaka and would happily stay here again, especially as a family. If you’ve travelled around Japan before, you’ll know that hotel rooms are often quite small. This was one of the biggest positives about Hotel Monday—the rooms were surprisingly spacious and made travelling as a family much more comfortable. The hotel is fairly basic in terms of facilities, with no breakfast, bar or other extras, but that wasn’t an issue for us. What it does, it does very well. The rooms were clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and welcoming, and everything was well maintained. The location was also great. It’s around a 400-metre walk to the main shopping and entertainment area, making it close enough to everything without being right in the middle of the crowds. We also found some fantastic little restaurants and local eateries in the surrounding back streets that became some of our favourite places to eat. One feature we really appreciated was having a washing machine in the room. If you’re travelling through Japan, especially with a family, this is a huge convenience and made our stay so much easier. The only thing worth noting is that late checkout comes at an additional cost. However, the hotel is upfront about this, so as long as you know before you book, it’s not something you can really complain about. Overall, this is a clean, comfortable, family-friendly hotel in a great location. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough and would definitely stay here again.
I stayed here for 3 nights with my family for our first trip to Osaka, Japan. The room we stayed in was very spacious and comfortable. It has complete amenities, and having a washing machine inside the room was a lifesaver for a longer stay. There’s also a fully equipped kitchen to cook and reheat food, and a cozy living area where the sofa can be turned into a bed. Although the location is a bit of a walk from the station, overall everything was great. This place is perfect for a long stay or for those traveling with big families and friends!
