From Toronto: Niagara Falls Day Tour With Optional Boat Cruise

It was a brilliant trip! Very well organized. Suresh was a fabulous tour guide and coach driver. Really appreciated his driving, all very smooth. He gave great commentary, facts and good vibes the whole way. He was incredibly kind with his time and escorted my mum and I to the ticket barriers on one of the sights. He went above and beyond, and we were very grateful. No words to describe the actual sight of Niagara Falls. If you can, do the boat, journey behind the falls and the tower. It is 100% worth it. Couldn't recommend this enough!!!

THANK YOU BG TOURS!!! There are a lot of day tours from Toronto to Niagara Falls to choose from so, before booking (through Get Your Guide) we checked reviews ( Travel Zoo, then BG Tours when we saw it near the top of the best reviewed companies and priced lower than the one our hotel “promoted”). BG stopped at the same hotel and had higher ratings. This was our first time to Niagara Falls ( and wanted to get the tour company right!). We have not travelled (other than nearby car trips) since 2019 so the on-line phone ticketing was new to us. I wanted to verify our order with BG Tours so contacted their office. Unfortunately, of the 12 number/letters confirmation, I got one wrong. Fortunately, their Administrative Executive was patient, helpful and prompt with responses and, once the correct booking number was submitted, provided the assurance that “yes”, my wife and I were indeed on the tour! We were picked up at our hotel at precisely when they said pickup was. Our Guide/Driver (Suresh) was fabulous throughout (which was quite an accomplishment considering the Toronto traffic extends beyond Hamilton both ways)! His information was good throughout but most importantly, he was clear and precise about pickup times and location! This proved critical when one person on the tour spoke a language that no one on the bus spoke and didn't show up at the meeting place to leave for Toronto. He called the BG number and was able to confirm he was lost but could not provide the location. BG and Suresh apparently got a very general idea of the direction he might be (?) so Suresh told the rest of the passengers who were on the bus when and where they were supposed to be that we going to find the missing passenger. And sure enough, within 5 minutes he did!!! The Falls are INCREDIBLE and if you want the full effect, TAKE THE BOAT TOUR, GO TO THE UPPER DECK AND GET WET!!!! TIP#1: Take a plastic bag large enough to hold the footwear and socks you want dry after the trip and put in “boat” footwear (extra sneakers, flip flops, sandals to change into before the boat trip). That way, your good footwear and socks can be worn and remain dry before and after you get wet on the outdoor viewing deck). TIP#2 The cheap plastic poncho you get at the boat won't stop your legs (from the knees down) and feet from getting wet, And your lower arms may also get wet. I purchased two cheap neck to ankles plastic multi purpose coveralls at Princess Auto ($2.22 plus tax each!!!). I put the poncho over the coveralls and it did a pretty good job of keeping everything dry except my feet (I had dry footwear and socks in a plastic bag for afterwards). Cheryl chose to bring light weight rain pants to wear instead of the coveralls. Guessing, if there is a “next time”, she'll bring the coveralls. There are a lot of similar Niagara Falls tours to choose from. We were VERY SATISFIED WITH BG TOURS! The Trip, the Guide/Driver, the Tour, the CUSTOMER SERVICE prior to the tour were all great!!! The bus tour to Niagara Falls was a wonderful, once-in-a-lifetime experience! Our tour guide was witty and even entertained us with stories about Vancouver during the drive. The short stops at various sights made the trip very diverse. I highly recommend this tour to everyone! Insider tip: Make sure to bring a large plastic bag or something similar to protect your shoes from the water – you will get wet!

Great trip out from Toronto. We did Canada side. Niagara is a must do. Especially the boat. Behind the falls is decent and to cap it all we did the zip line which might not be for everyone. Our driver was top notch. Knowledgeable, polite and calmly managed the day. Loved it.

Perfect day trip out of Toronto to Niagara. Except for the weather (which just that one day) it happened to be raining, the experience was great. Our guide provided great geographically related information all along the way there to create an informed the expectation of the falls experience.

The tour was absolutely worth it! We were picked up right outside our hotel and everything was super convenient. We chose the behind the falls and boat tours and it was well worth it. Our driver was very nice. I would recommend this tour for anyone considering a visit to Niagra Falls!

We had an amazing time on this day tour from Toronto to Niagara Falls. Everything was perfectly organized from start to finish. Our driver, Bernard, was fantastic. He was not only professional and safe, but also incredibly knowledgeable, providing us with thorough and fascinating explanations throughout the journey. The itinerary was great. The bus ride was comfortable, and we truly enjoyed both the "Journey Behind the Falls" experience and the Hornblower cruise. Being that close to the falls was an unforgettable experience. Our tour was fantastic. The guide Bernard was awesome. He was super organized and looked out for everyone on the tour.

A great way to see Niagara Falls! We were picked up by Bernard, who was a super driver and guide, providing lots of useful local and historical information as we travelled from Toronto to Niagara Falls. His instruction on where to be and when to be there was clear and without ambiguity. He checked multiple times that the guests on the tour understood the instructions and how to get the best out of their time on the tour. This included being mindful of pickpockets and the length of time it would take to do each part of the tour. We took a helicopter across the falls (optimal extra) which provided really breathtaking views and being able to see the expanse of the water ways. We then took a trip behind the falls before heading onto the Hornblower, for a ride across the basin. Top tip: wear waterproofs under your poncho because unless you sit inside the boat, you will get drenched. Keep your poncho on as you walk back to your meeting point as there is offer spray from the falls reaching the promenade. Bernard was on time to each pick up and drop off location, but unfortunately on our tour we had three awful French guests travelling with us who were disruptive, and rude, the entire time. They disregarded Bernard’s advice and request to be on time, tried to sneak into Journey Behind the Falls by claiming they didn’t understand the ticketing options (but they clearly did) and they delayed departure from the Flower Clock because they were smoking (and stank the bus out). Other than these awful guests, we had a great time on this tour. Tips: we went off season, so it was very, very quiet. I’d highly recommend this as I imagine in the peak season you’d be packed in like sardines and would have little time to really appreciate the views and experiences.

Fantastic trip. Driver guide was excellent & took us into the skylon tower, then came back to take us to Journey behind falls. We had nearly 4hours do do everything. (We left the boat till last so we could be dry for other experience,s. We got soaked from head to toe). Not many people there towards end October, so was able to get some good photos without other tourists in. Weather was cloudy, but didn't rain. View from Skylon tower was probably the best so worth doing if visibility is good.

Poor Tour guide. Hope you don't get the Fijian driver. Bus had rubbish left form previous tour when we boarded at 7.40am. Signs stuck all over the bus saying 15% trip expected. Drove erratically, accelerating then braking all the time, was not a smooth ride. Didn't give much info during the tour and didn't know the road was closed to whirlpool (even though he drove past it on 10 mins before), so then said I can take to to a smaller one instead. There is only 1 whirlpool there!!! He was supposed to be a licenced Niagara Falls tour guide!!! Finally dropped us off back in Toronto a 25 minute walk from where he picked us up. He insisted it was where he picked us up even when I said it looked different, he just said it around the corner I picked you up. Wish I hadn't tipped him a all.

Smooth travel and great guide by Bernard, knowledgeable and efficient. I really like that is not too tour guide heavy and you have plenty of time to explore the Niagara falls by yourself. Really recommend to do the boat experience!

Beautiful and thrilling. Everything was organized and efficient. Even if there is no room to hold onto the handles, the boat maneuvers through the waters safe enough for everyone to enjoy the upper floor of the deck.

It was a good tour; however, I expected a more organized guide and better orientation policies, as it was a little confusing without a printed or clear electronic guide.

The tour was excellent! The tour guide was knowledgeable and very personable. There were groups of people who were always late and very inconsiderate to the rest of us, the guide handled professionally and with patience.

Our driver, Felix was amazing! Lots of knowledge and a funny guy. He cared about every single person on the bus. The tour couldn’t be more eventful. He took us to a flower garden, maple syrup and chocolate tasting, walk behind the falls, to the tower and boat cruise under the falls. The cruise was the best part of all. All for a good price. Misleading, no free time if you book journey under falls or Hornblower. Missed the whole experience in the town. Paid for zip line and never got to do it with no refund. Not enough time to do anything. The bus driver was great.

Wonderful tour company, when two of the group were lost, they went and found them. They won’t leave you behind and that’s a plus in my book.

Genuinely one of the best trips I have ever been on in my many travels! Travelled from the UK and was worried because of previous reviews about tips. We were never harassed once so clearly this practice has stopped. Bernard and Jack were brilliant and very professional speaking in both English and German and ensuring we were given the most information we could get. We were offered a helicopter ride at the falls for a discounted price on the day which we took advantage of. (Once in a lifetime experience and I would highly recommend)! The helicopter was very quiet and offered brilliant views. Behind the falls was good because this trip allows you to cut the line. Take the 1st left underground for some of the best views of the falls this is well worth it. The line for the 2nd left is long and not worth it in my opinion to see the water flow at the end of the tunnel. It's a bit of a time sink for not much pay off. The tower was a nice view. Not too much else to say about that but got some nice pictures. The boat was.... incredible! If you want to take a picture or video with your phone you sould definitely get a water proof case for your phone. The ponchos will not keep you dry the spray is intense and I was fighting to keep my contact lenses in! It's awesome to feel the raw power of the falls. My advice, wear the poncho if you must but bring a small towel for after!

It was amazing I would recommend to anyone visiting Toronto. Bernard was so knowledgeable and helpful; he kept us entertained the entire day. He was very interactive and attentive to our needs. Shoutout to our multilingual king! It was very nice that he was able to speak more than one language to help non-native English speakers and deliver the same information to them so they weren’t missing out. Our driver is a world class driver, I was extremely impressed with how he could whip that big bus I have never felt safer! Niagara Falls is a must see destination they offer you opportunities to see it from every angle possible and I would recommend taking advantage of all of them. The highlight was the helicopter add on- it’s a must do. We ended up doing all of the add ons and it was a great experience! Can’t say enough good things about Bernard and the driver they made that day one to never forget!

It was a great experience overall. Something was noted incorrectly on what I had picked but it was resolved quickly after I showed proof of what I purchased. The Tour, Journey, Boat and Tower were great to do and I would recommend to anyone wanting to see Niagara Falls. It's an experience that will last a lifetime. BG Tours did a great job.

I really disappointed, I got support to book the ticket activity by Viator chat agent (Tracy Joy) and she supported with the link for payment and when I filled up my information the pickup point listed address and I can’t input my address I have given her my actual hotel address and she advised me to go ahead and book the ticket activity and she will modify my address from her side and now I waiting and received a call from the activity operator he was waiting me at the pickup point which I have input and I loose my day and effectively my mood.

After leaving the Rush Hour Traffic of Toronto behind, my primary thought became, "will I die today". The driver, Shuraz was a nice man, but it soon became apparent that he was fatigued. But this is also no excuse for bad driving. I am an experienced driver of 44 years and know every bad trick and lazy habit that there is. The journey to and from Niagara was in the fast lane all the way. The speed limit was exceeded whenever possible, which was most of the time. And the driving was conducted with one hand on the wheel for most of the journey there, and all the way back. And with "the" hand resting in the six o'clock position. If an evasive manoeuvre had been required, we would have been dead. The driver nodded off at least twice on the way there, and once on the way back. Most of the Tour Operators are using Mini Coaches, we got a Minibus. This was a High speed Taxi with hardly any "Tour" included. Three of the Ladies needed to go to the Washroom, but had to wait 2.25 hours. There were three brief stops at points close to Niagara, one of which should have been a photo shoot, but we were not invited to get out. At the other 2 stops we were given a brief, or no explanation at all at what we were looking at. No Itinerary was provided. Before Niagara, we were take to a Maple syrup shop for a "sales experience". We had to wait 55 minutes until he returned with tickets for the Tower or Power station, because the Boat cruise was not operating. We were informed of this the day before, but the alternative tickets could have been purchased in advance. The 20 x 30 yellow sign above us in the Minibus about "customary" tipping of the driver, the mandatory Maple Syrup shop stop, and minimum "tour" experience is all about making money for the minimum effort. The first departing passengers were "escorted" into a supermarket to get some cash to pay the tip, because they had no cash on them. On top of the bad driving that everybody had witnessed, the 10 minutes that we were kept waiting in the van for this "Tip Collection" was just uncomfortable and an unpleasant experience. Everybody has to make a living, but it is not "customary" to play risk with the lives of 13 passengers in your minibus. If you have this driver, you are at a risk of no return !

It was a pleasure traveling with the small group and the nice guide Afshin. There were interesting stories, no rash, amazing views. We took the combo of Boat Cruise + Journey Behind the Falls + Skylon Tower.

Nice Tour, Only thing I did not like, was I was supposed to be picked up from my Hotel, but I had to walk to the location for pick up, because roads are closed on the day, that I chose to go. So I Rather long walk, or uber - So I walked. 30 min. Tour guide, was good, but I think it could have been better

Amazing day!! The weather was warmer than I expected so it was perfect for being at Niagara Falls! The ride to get there was very exciting and relaxing at the same time. I like having my own space and being able to take my luggage while I waited to check-in. They were so nice, friendly, & accomodating when I messaged beforehand so I knew I was more than thrilled to go. Our tour guide Afsheen was so nice and very knowledgeable about everything and made the tour even more pleasant! I learned so much on this trip and on the ride back to the city, I was already looking to see when I can come back. The other guests were also friendly and I did not feel left out traveling solo. I enjoyed it so much and I look forward to the next time!! I highly recommend it!

From start to finish this tour was amazing. Our driver was punctual, fun and informative. He also went out of his way to take us to the heli pad for us to do a helicopter ride over the falls. A spectacular trip out to the Falls on the boat. Be prepared to get very wet, even with the ponchos! Take a second pair of dry shoes with you! An amazing experience to add to the Bucket List

Everything about this tour was excellent. Four of us went. Prior to the tour there was good communication providing a number of pick up location options. We were picked up at the exact time at the our location of choice. The tour was a great size with no more than 24 participants. The tour guide and driver provided clear information about what to expect for our journey and about each stop. He was very friendly and professional. He went above and beyond our expectations. We would do it again and highly recommend this tour.

Had such a wonderful experience! Afshin, our tour guide, was very friendly and personable and not annoying at all like some tour guides are. As a tourrist, I was very excited to do all of the fun bucketlist items like getting to experince eating frozen maple syrup off a stick and of course the bretahatking view of Niagra. Hard to put into words how the eperince was, but it was memorable. I reccoemnd taking a tour because you don't have to worry about parking, or where to go. I had a great time

Feliz, our tour guide from BG Tours, was great and fun to spend the day with. He sheparded a group of 11 to each of their individual sightseeing destinations with skill and humor. And Niagara Falls was impressive and beautiful. The whole day was a highlight to my trip and will always be a very memorable experience.

This review is for the company that took us to the falls, BG Tours. There were several issues with our booking that were very disappointing and not worth the cost of the tour. First, they overbooked for the day we went, and they asked if we could move our reservation to the date we were leaving Canada (2 days after our reserved date). Next, they sent a van that was not in very good operating condition and was too small for the number of people they packed in for a 2-hour ride. When I mentioned something to the driver, he said they usually had a bigger van they use but were spilling over into this one because they overbooked. Two of the seats were directly over the wheel well, so one knee had to be bent up onto the well for the entire 2 hours each way (very cramped in an already tight seating arrangement). The tires were either too worn or not inflated enough, so the ride was very bumpy and hard over any dips or ruts on the road. Although the driver was friendly, the back of the van (where we were seated) fishtailed lot while he was driving. There was also a very conspicuous sign clearly displayed the said the driver relied on 15% tips from everyone for MOST OF THEIR INCOME. Excuse me, but what did we just pay $212 USD for? Yes, a 15-minute boat ride for 2 people was included, but that is $28 USD per person if you go directly through Hornblower. So where did the other $160 USD go? DO THEY NOT PAY THEIR DRIVERS and expect customers to pay them separately? Based on all the above, I recommend finding a tour company that: 1) guarantees you will be riding in a well maintained vehicle where ALL seats are comfortable, 2) their technology does not allow for overbooking, 3) pays their drivers accordingly and 4) does not stop at tourist trap shops on the way that they have contracted with to bring them business. While the falls are beautiful, the tour company exceedingly disappointed me and made me feel ripped off. I do not recommend this tour company.
