Overall a good experience. Nice hotel, helpful and courteous staff, clean and well-maintained rooms and common areas. Great option for solo, or partnered travelers. Location was very nice as well, with close access to public transit. Cause for lower star rating; this hotel is NOT a good option for anyone concerned about privacy. The bathrooms are essentially open to the room acoustically, and visually to a degree. Many people enjoy a very modern aesthetic, but a lot is lost in terms of privacy. The toilet and shower are both directly accesible from the bedroom with frosted glass doors that don't have locks, and don't even latch. They also share a frosted glass "wall" between them, so they aren't even fully visually separated from each other. The sink and vanity act as a separator for the bathroom area and bedroom area, but do not actually separate them meaningfully. This would all seem quite alright in a single King room, where the implication is pretty clear there will be one person, or a couple, but in a two queen room it feels like an odd choice. All that to say; it's a great option as long as the party are all very comfortable together. If you have any concerns about privacy and wanting your bathroom to be fully separated from the other guests in your room, then this is NOT the place for you.

Nice location. Comfortable room. Execution is lacking at this price point. Breakfast was a complete disaster. I checked in with the hostess and was asked to wait to be seated. Meanwhile multiple groups of people came and sat at tables without asking. Instead of asking them to get up and check in they just gave them menus. I get not wanting to make a scene with guests but you also had guests who followed the rules waiting over 20 minutes for a table. Then the hostess lost track of who is waiting and just started seating new people. Had to call the manager over. The manager did seat me but the hostess then comes and asks me to move so she could give the table to another couple. WHAT?! I did everything to remain cool but said a resounding no. This is beneath Marriott standard and definitely W hotel standard. Too many options to stay here again. This all happened at breakfast on August 15
The overall vibe of the hotel is fun and contemporary. The staff is mostly welcoming. The location of the hotel is very central in Toronto and convenient to a subway stop. The on site gym was the best I have ever seen at a hotel and quite large was nicely equiped. However, the set up of the room is a bit strange. The open concept ensuite bathroom provides absolutely no privacy. If you are staying as a solo traveler- great, but- if not- you must be up close and personal with your travel companions. The door to the toilet does not even seal all the way around- there are gaps on both sides. I had more privacy in the lobby washrooms. Also- there is no sound deafening between the rooms- when the person was showering next door it sounded like they were in our room. For the price per night and an experience at another W hotel- I had higher expectations.
Wouldn’t stay here again, by far the worst experience I’ve had with a room. Spiders and a leak in the room? wallpaper falling off in the hallway? I will say the service was okay, they accommodated us after. By switching the room, and compaction but in no way did this make me feel 100% better. The location is great for shopping but not convenient for long term stays…
The W Hotel in Toronto is a joy to stay at. W hotels pay a lot of attention to visuals — everything is coordinated and modern and contemporary. They hire great staff too. A shout out to Carol-Lynn at the front desk and Kathy in the restaurant. I had an issue that was quite unique, and Carol-Lynn thought outside the box and solved it. And did it with a warm, friendly smile. The W Toronto has good food too. Cathy helped make the meal memorable and was accommodating as well. The W Toronto is a delight!
