Dunn's River Falls From Ocho Rios

Definitely have to have full range of motion on all arms and legs. Be able to be steady in your feet because you will be climbing can be slippery. Expect to get wet. Soaking. Wonderful time with Marvin and O’Neil as tour guides. They knew where to lead us and literally every rock to step on along the way. O’Neil also video taped the entire video and took pics in special spots as we did the climb. Water is cool and refreshing. Amazing crew. Highly recommended!

This was a great experience, and my family loved it. We (me and my wife) last did this tour back in 2014, and it has been greatly improved since then. We had Miguel and Curtis leading us through the falls, and they did so remarkably. They made the trip both fun and memorable. Oh, and when my wife lost her phone (after being dunked) in the falls, Miguel retrieved it and saved the day.

The driver was excellent and the guide while climbing the falls was terrific. I was worried about slipping on the rocks. I was impressed that they scrub the algae from the main pathway. So if you are worried, wear good water shoes, climb carefully, and you can do it!

We reserved this excursion on Viator as cruise ship passengers in January 2026(not thru the cruise ship)so we made sure to book the early am time to get back on time. Once off the ship we headed to the entrance/exit where you had to look for the staff in the yellow shirt. We waited a good 30 mins with others as everyone was asking each other if we were in the correct place. Our group was called and we headed to the van. Getting out of the parking lot was another 20 mins or so. As we traveled the roads the guide was very informative about the land and culture. The driver also informed us that the staff at the falls will tell you tonpurchase the video of your group and pictures, to be sent to you by email. He said some people get the email some don't. Which ended up being true. A couple in our group did not get the video after they paid $40 USD. He aslo stated that if uou put down you want the video or pictures and you leave your stuff on the van, the staff will walk with you to the van to collect, and they did! Arrival at the falls, we were given the opportunity to purchase water resistant phone cases for $10 and water shoes(can remeber price). We were then asked to leave all of our belongings(wallet, passport, towels, sunglasses..etc.. in the van. Just bring yourself and your phone. What lost in the falls will stay in the falls. They do have locker rentals if needed. We had waterproof bookbag and cellphone cases so we kept our belongings with us. The staff said no one would enter the van and the driver would stay with the van. No one complained that their stuff was missing. Walking to the entrance everyone got their wristband and headed to their spot to wait our groups turn while we signed a waiver- About 20 mins. Our tour guide was excellent, wish I could member his name. Older smaller guy, in excellent shape and ability. The Falls was anything short of amazing!!! Everyone held hand in a chain going up the falls helping each other out. This was a group effort for all. The guide does take pictures for you with your camers at certain safe spots along the way and their is a videographer traveling with you. You do not need to know how to swim, you do need safe swim shoes to grip the rocks. The algae on the rocks can be very slippery. There is a point on the falls where there is a rock slide swimmers can slide down. Non swimmers take another route then come back together quickly. After the falls is where the staff will ask you to purchase pictures and the video. Then heading out there all shops along the way and then more staff with an actual printout of the picture for $10. We choose not to purchase any as we took great pictures ourselves and the tour guide took one of with our phone as well. Heading back to the cruise port the driver dropped some of us off at the shops across from the port and other still had continuation of activities scheduled with the same operator. Great! Would absolutely recommend!

My family loved this excursion. My husband has trouble with his feet so he wasn't able to participate but he was able to watch us almost the whole time from the stairs going up the side. My kids had a blast(15,13,9) and since you go up the Falls as a group, you take lots of breaks and have chances to take photos. Bring your waterproof phone case! The driver was very informative and flexible with our group and walked us all the way to the entrance.

You will get wet, falling is possible, be ready to get in a climb in the sun. You will have lots of fun. You will be working together with strangers to successful climb the falls.

Our experience with our driver Godfrey was great he was friendly and even waited for us when we took a little longer than the set pick up time from the falls would definitely be touring with these guys again for our next trip to Jamaica

Really fun to do! Water temp was good. Make sure to bring your watershoes and a waterproofbag for your phone.

We were forced to buy the photo sets after the tour. Paid the $40, but never got the package afterward. What a scam!

Great excursion if you just want to go directly to the falls and back to the ship. We didn't want any shopping or beach stop. The port area was a little hectic and chaotic trying to figure out which bus we needed to get on, but once we did, it was great! Our driver Lenroy was super nice and went above and beyond to ensure everyone had a great experience! Highly recommend Lenroy with Kool Jamaica Tours!

The driver picked us up from resort on time and was super friendly and nice. He let us keep our stuff inside the van rather than renting a locker there. Gave advice on how to avoid the vendors selling stuff. Overall great experience!

Go when there are no cruises in port then it’s not so busy. And get a guide it can be tricky to navigate

What a cool experience. Godfrey was a pleasant driver and got us to the location quickly. The climb up the falls was slippery but fun. I had figured I’d be fine with the plastic sandals I had but was forced to buy water shoes. They were just $11 at the falls so bring with you or purchase when you get there. We waited a bit at the end for the rest of the tour but overall was a good trip. Note: if you come from the cruise boat terminal go to the middle gate where someone will call the driver.

Very aggressive people. Too much waiting around.You exit through a sketchy market where they follow you around. Everyone wants tips.

We had an amazing time at Dunns River Falls. We visited on a day when no cruises were in town, hence more quiet, no crowds. We got to go on a guided hike up the falls with lots of opportunity for photos. Guides were friendly and fun and kept everyone from slipping!

Dunns River Falls is a most visit place for anyone in Ocho Rios. Our driver, Craig, and our tour guide Sunshine were amazing. They made us feel welcome. They provided us with drinks during this tour.

Not what we expected but a good time. It’s not going on a waterfall tour it’s cooking a waterfall! Def good experience but not what we imagined going into it

This excursion was awesome!! So much fun and action packed. The tour guides were phenomenal, especially “Mr. T”. Love that they capture all the moments while your climbing the falls… I never would have gotten those shots. If you’re coming to Ocho Rios don’t miss Dunn’s River Falls! It was great!

This was something new and risky for my age; But the staff are very helpful and friendly. They go with everyone in the hole process, which make you feel save. Is really exiting and wonderful. I think, I will do it again in another opportunity! Thank guys! I recommend it 200%

Everything was amazing. A must do while in Ocho Rios. The guy was excellent too! Climbing the falls could be scary at fun but totally worth it!

Our driver was great but took us to a spot for water shoes where I was ripped off. I am happy to support the local economy but not if I am paying more than at Dunns river. The shoes at Dunns river was about $11 new. I paid even more. Should have haggled the price down.

Dunns River Falls was very exhilarating! A natural high! At first I was not sure this ws for me but I’m so glad I went!!

Climbing the Falls is challenging but thrilling. Everyone is willing to lend a helping hand. Not for persons with walking or stability limitations. We did not climb, just watched the others. Our driver/guide was Orette and he was great! Perfect communication with tour coordinator. No problem locating our transport after disembarking cruise ship. Comfortable vehicle and water/soda included. Ask for Orette when booking this excursion! He instructed us on the Do's and Don't especially about the eager vendors. You can't go wrong with a Viator tour. Very professional and courteous. I will continue to book with Viator in the future.

This was a great excursion, lots of fun and the tour guides were excellent! Got us back to the boat on time, pickup was easy.

It’s more exciting than what I expected, also we followed the tour guide climbing up the stones of the river falls and making us can’t skip or wait (give up)! Also I got a very friendly guy in our group who always pull me up on those stones! I felt my adrenaline up during the entire tour and my arm and leg muscles pain next day!

The fact that I told them it was my son's birthday and the moment we walked up to the vehicle Godfrey said., "I heard it was someones birthday" that was the a great way to start what turned out to be an amazing experience for our whole family.

Our driver Godfrey was awesome and punctual. Gave us a short tour on the way to and from Dunn's River Falls from SDR. Escorted all the way to the falls tour guide, and was waiting for us as soon as we were done. Highly recommend!

Everything was wonderful about the thh JJ e whole event, our tour guide Ewin was fun and took our safety very serious, Kema, our videographer captured every fun moment as we climbed the falls, formed a human chain and enjoy the trill of the climb all of these moments will be treasured forever. We enjoyed this tour and would recommend. We chose to go to dunns very early before the crowd so we did a private tour there and bamboo rafting. We felt very safe. It was very organized. Very easy to book, you can message them on fb or WhatsApp and they will email invoice, then we just paid day of the tour. Wayne was very nice and friendly, extremely prompt and also patient while we did the falls. 10/10

One of the best experiences! Our photographer kemar(Sanka lol) and our guide Ewing were definitely the best! They made me the head of the group and made sure we were safe going up the rocks. I’m referring all my friends! Sanka!! Will you kiss my daughter’s egg!? Lmao

Definitely a “must do” while in Jamaica! Try to get there early. It gets very busy. Guides were great. Howie made the visit even better.

Awesome trip up Dunns River Falls. This tour took us to the falls and got us set up with a guide. They take u up. Had 2 first timers and one was overweight but she made it! The guides were awesome. Then our bus guide met us at the end. Amazing climb up the beautiful falls

Dunns River Tour was fun and exciting. The tour guide was polite, friendly and helpful. I had an amazing time and the views were so beautiful. I got some amazing pictures too.

We had already decided not to climb the falls based on all the reviews. What was not mentioned are all the steps to get to the views and the beach. Thank goodness my 79 year old mother was able to get down and back up. The Viator driver was super friendly.

A “must do” when in the area. Our guide was great, he knew exactly where to go to avoid slippery areas. Pay attention to the guides, they are the experts! Try to go early or on a non cruise ship day.

Very well organized. Furthermore, we were picked up quickly once the ship has docked and therefore arrived at the waterfalls first. we avoided the crowds.

We came to Jamaica Falmouth during a cruise trip. Since we had a big group (33 people), instead of paying expensive cruise line short excursion, we contacted Kool Jamaica Tours directly. The agent contact person always responded quickly and was flexible in meeting our requirement and tailored to our needs. The initial plan was to to visit both Dunn's River Falls and Blue Hold. Unfortunately, the cruise line had a medical emergency and our arrived was delayed by 2hrs at last minute which limited our trip to Dunn's River Falls only. And Kool Tours quickly adjusted to the itinerary change. Due to group size, we were assigned two buses. Godfrey was one of our drivers. We finished the waterfall on time but delayed bus boarding due to changing clothes. Godfrey didn't complain but rather constantly found the shortcuts and brought up back to port on time. 20min after arriving at the port, one of the families discovered an iPhone was left on Godfrey's bus. He parked the car on the road shoulder and went all over the bus and located the phone under the seats. Unfortunately, he was too far to bring the phone back before cruise departure but promised to mail it to our address. In the next two weeks, the family was in constant contact with Margaret from Kool Jamaica Tours. Despite of X'mas, New Year and Jamaica National Day, they were able to mail it back to US right after the holiday break. We truly appreciate the exciting journey, the responsive and flexible service, the efficient handling of itinerary changes and the extra effort to return a lost phone.
