Blue Hole Ocho Rios (Island Gully Falls)

We booked a private Blue Hole (Island Gully Falls) tour with Island Jamaica Excursions on our cruise stop in Ocho Rios, and it was hands down the best excursion of our whole trip. The turquoise pools and cascading waterfalls tucked into the lush Jamaican jungle are breathtaking, and it felt like a true hidden gem. Our guide, Courtney, made the day unforgettable. He was very skilled, incredibly patient, and so careful about our safety, showing us exactly where and how to jump so we always felt confident. I jumped off the smaller falls, while my partner jumped every single one, including the very big one! We even did one jump together, and it's a memory we'll never forget. On top of that, Courtney videotaped the ENTIRE adventure and captured amazing still shots along the way, all for FREE. We'd read about other visitors being pressured to buy photo packages, and our experience was the complete opposite. He clearly loves what he does, and the photos and videos he gave us are priceless. Marcia at Island Jamaica Excursions was wonderful too. She handled every detail by email, adjusted our pickup time around our ship's schedule, and when a small mix-up about entrance fees came up on the day, she fixed it within minutes. That's outstanding service. If you're in Ocho Rios, book this private tour and ask for Courtney. We can't recommend it highly enough!

What a great adventure! A beautiful place with friendly staff. My wife and I had the good fortune to visit from Sandals Ocho Rios on a non-cruise day so it was almost like we had the place to ourselves. Lindo was kind, fun, and extremely safety conscious. We were there for a couple hours and weren’t rushed at all. Do bring water shoes. No mention of a photo package but Lindo used our phones to get great pics/videos for us. Be sure to pet the cats Mary and Frisky. And do say hello to “The Irishman”

We did dunns falls earlier in the day and thought it was cool but a little touristy. Then we came here, and let’s just say this was the absolute highlight of our trip. Blue hole was so much fun, the water felt incredible, if wasn’t crowded at all like dunns falls was, and the staff was much more patient and let us take our time to enjoy the experience. My husband loved jumping in all the different spots, I was more scared and even then I still had fun and the staff was incredibly patient and didn’t make me feel pressured at all. We will say though Lindo made the experience amazing, we will definitely be back and more importantly we will definitely be asking for Lindo again! The only con I would say is the photo package was kinda pricey, but we got plenty of photos on our phone that we didn’t feel like we missed out by not getting the package.

Blue Hole is, without question, my favorite place on the island—and in my opinion, the best excursion you can do. The water is absolutely stunning—clear, deep, and perfect for swimming and jumping. It’s a fun, active experience with opportunities to dive in, do backflips, and explore the area on foot. The setting also makes for some incredible photos. The people there are just as impressive—friendly, professional, and they make the experience what it is. If you go, make sure you ask for Terrence. He’ll take care of you from start to finish and make sure you get the most out of it. Terrence is the best in the business. If you leave the resort for anything—this is the one.

Do not buy the photo package as it does not get emailed out to you tried contacting the company phoned them on several occasions only to get you have dialled the wrong number emailed them no response from them in total it’s just a SCAM ISLAND GULLY FALLS SCAMMERS !!!!

This place is very crowded and guides are rushing you into the loud and fast moving waters with slippery rocks. Our teen daughter had a panic attack at the falls and was very scared, she didn't want to let go of my hand, the guide was upset with me for holding her hand and angrily yelled at me for not trusting him. Sir, I met you 5 seconds ago, you didn't explain anything to us and you want me to trust you with my kid? the whole experience was rushed and forced. I've seed guides forcing people to jump from a waterfall and even pushing them with their hands as people jumped. There is NO time for you to think, no way to come back by yourself if you changed your mind - you have to move quickly, no time to enjoy as there's line up of people behind and in front of you. The whole thing is very hectic. Yes, lovely for professional adventure seekers, but very unsafe and not enjoyable for those who want to try it out for the first time.

I truly did not know what to expect, so maybe this will help you. Richard and Carrington whisked us from our hotel and regaled us with stories and tidbits of Jamaican history while we drove into the hills to the water fall. Once there, we got off the mini bus and right away were on our hike across and up the falls, ked by the attentive, helpful, encouraging, life -saving., entertaining Bobby and Captain. Hike was not long and on a variety of surfaces: steps, dirt, rocks, river, waterfall. To get down, we jumped into a series of pools (a few steps in between each). Bobby made sure we were safe and knew where to go and step. He graciously guided us and prodded us to jump as needed (some big jumps). He took photos along the way and was very alert and engaged with our needs, spoken or not. Wonderful trip. Not for the faint of heart. Must have physical mobility and balance and be comfortable jumping into and swimming in unfamiliar deep water (life jackets available). This is the best Blue Hole excursion as it goes above the hydroelectric power plant - it is the original and most authentic Blue Hole.

We had a great time at the falls. We had a group of 10 with a range of adventure seekers to watchers. Everyone had a good time. Sam and Wellington were great guides for us the whole time we were there.

Our visit to Island Gully Falls was absolutely amazing from start to finish! CJ and Wellington were incredible guides — friendly, fun, and so patient with our group. We had some younger kids who needed a little extra help navigating the falls, and they went above and beyond to make sure everyone felt safe and had a great time. The experience itself was unforgettable — beautiful scenery, refreshing water, and such a welcoming atmosphere. I can’t recommend Island Gully Falls enough, especially if you have CJ and Wellington as your guides!

I loved this tour!!! Courtney and Bobbie made sure all of us were safe and guided us up the path, so that we did not step on the wrong rocks. They made sure our life vests were secured enough to keep us safe. I highly recommend this tour!!! I would also come back here again :)

I have always heard about how beautiful Blue Hole was, but never had the chance to see it myself. On a trip home this summer, i finally made my way there and it was worth the wait. The untouched beauty of this location was just amazing and the clean waters were just so refreshing. Our tour guide Daniel was the best. He was easygoing, patient and just good fun to be around. Even despite going on a holiday, the place was not packed, so definitely enough time and space to enjoy. What I truly liked about it as well, was the wonderful mix of locals and tourists. So it really gives an authentic Jamaican experience.

Our tour guide was excellent and the Driver made our trip to Jamaica a must do again. Everyone was friendly and professional. C.J. even helped my non swimmers to jump. It was a memorable event. I suggest to anyone visiting Ocho Rios!!!

Had a fab morning here. Great scenery, great fun and great guide. We were kitted out with life jackets and felt safe jumping into the crystal blue water from various heights. Really enjoyed.

Visiting blue holes was a must for our visit to Ocho Rios. Our guide, Jay, was awesome helping us have a wonderful experience. We highly recommend this experience and this company.

We had such a blast. This was our first trip out of the country with my husband and three young children. I looked at multiple tour companies including the resort we stayed. I really wanted a very specific adventure for my family and I got that and more. The day before traveling to Jamaica, I booked with Island Jamaica Excursions as the price was right and the communication was excellent through email. They were able to personalized our adventures by taking us to the Blue Hole and to Konoko Falls. We also had a tour and lunch. Our driver was absolutely a blessing. His name was Richard. We went in October which was so nice because it was not busy. Richard arrived on time or early and waited patiently for me to wrangle my children. Richard's greeting was warm and I could tell we were in great hands. He was such a gentleman and very friendly. He kept my children entertained, told us jokes and educated us on the Jamaican culture as well as it's rich history. We enjoyed him so much and learned so much. It felt like he was our uncle by the time our day ended. Richard never rushed us or made us feel uncomfortable. He took us sightseeing and ensured we had a great experience with guided tours from people at both places we were taken. It was nice because he was familiar with the staff and really was thoughtful in suggesting guides for us. Richard also transported us to lunch and showed us the different shopping areas and Excursions in the area. My kids remember him to this day and are always so excited to show their friends and our family members pictures of our friend, Richard. If you are headed to Jamaica, the only transportation and guide I would recommend is Richard! He will make sure you have a good time. Be sure to tip your driver and guides as they depend on tourism to provide for themselves. Richard went above and beyond and we look forward to visiting Jamaica again soon to continue to explore. Now we know which company to trust which can be hard to find especially as tourist. Thank you for the adventure and for making us feel like family!

This excursion was truly amazing!!!! We went to the Blue Hole Island Gully Falls and our guides Romaine and Julian led us through the river and we were able to jump from varying levels of difficulty and swim in beautiful blue water. The guys were fun and entertaining. One of the ladies in our group sprained her ankle and Romaine carried her across rocks and the river and then even into the bus!!This was truly one of the best excursions I've ever been on! Highly recommend it! Thanks Romaine and Julian!

This was one of the highlights of my vacation! Last day of vacation and this was so exciting! Add this to your bucket list. Trust me, you will not be disappointed. So much fun! I still can’t believe that I jumped four times after being scared! Thanks to the awesome assistance of Jevi and Damrio!!! They were very professional, kind, and patient. Went there with a team trip and they didnt want to let us in because "we are Jamaicans and not tourist" as they quoted. WRST

I’m a local Jamaican and I was initially turn back because of my black skin and the way I speak, they are prejudice towards their own black Jamaicans!

A piece of gem well hidden in lush green and tranquil setting. A series of falls and whirlpools make a a fun adventure for both families and thrill seekers. Our guide Mike is warm and caring. He makes sure we have a fun and safe experience. Mike took some great pictures and videos of our jumps into water. Those videos make enduring memories of our time in Jamaica. If you self drive, be aware that there are some “knock off” blue holes before the final approach. Folks are over enthusiastic to “direct” you to parking. Don’t get distracted and keep driving till you see the gate with “Island Gully Falls”. Beyond the gate, the parking area is spacious and pleasant.

Amazing visit to this beautiful place. Tour guides (babysitters) were helpful, kind and trusted keeping us safe and amazed at there skills. Well worth a visit and jump in!

We had the best time ever at the blue hole! CJ, the cool Jamaican 😊, was the best guide ever. Not only was it incredibly beautiful but CJ made it fun and took tons of pictures for us. My husband and I had been to Jamaica before but after our last trip we cannot wait to go back. We will visit Island Gully Falls again and request CJ. Make sure to bring water shoes and you don’t need a bag, but if you insist make sure it’s waterproof. They also sell water shoes there for $12.00 US.

This place is amazing and my family and I had a lot of fun here! I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical when we first arrived, but that changed after meeting our tour guide, Sam, and seeing the beautiful blue water. Sam was very kind and helpful. He instructed us on what to do for us to have fun and stay safe. Jumping from the platform into the cool crisp water was so much fun! Sam went first and helped my son and wife return to the top. My son and I would have stayed all day if we could have. We really enjoyed it!

Ava did an awesome job taking us to the waterfall and informing us about the country and culture. I recommend wearing water shoes and making sure you are a strong swimmer

We went in the morning, we greeted with smiling faces, upbeat guides and even a photographer along the way. You get the climb up (just a little, it wasn't too tough), they take a picture of you in a small fall where you can sit on a rock, then you start jumping in! Water was cold initially but you get used to it quickly and its beautiful. On the last jump (about 30 feet), I lost my fitbit ionic (about $250 watch). Its waterproof and never leaves my wrist so I didn't even think to remove it. Javier got all of my info and said he would dive and look for it and let me know if he found it. I thought that was a nice gesture but didn't really believe I would be reunited with me watch. Boy was I wrong! Javier is the best, found it and came to our resort the next morning to get it back to me. Once again so nice, smiling and a wonderful experience. Come check out their tour! Its fun, they take care of you and they really do want you to be happy and enjoy their country! I recommend this several times over.

This hidden place is located on the hills and jungle and need about half an hour drive. Need to hire a guide. Once entered, an amazing natural view, blue water and waterfalls! The guide suggested to stand underneath of waterfall for "water massage" which was amazing experience. Cold water falling from the waterfall right on the top of your head giving full massage to your body - an unforgettable experience! Jumping from the cliffs into the blue water was priceless experience. Great enjoyment with water. Don't forget to tip the guides, it's customary as well as mandatory as they are independent contractor. Don't miss this place while in Ocho Rios.
