Casa Senhoras Rainhas - Obidos - By Unlock Hotels

We had a wonderful night at Senhoras Rainhas. We arrived late only to discover our Airbnb unit wasn’t cleaned, leaving us scrambling at 10pm for a place to stay. João at the front desk was incredibly kind, set us up with a wonderful room. Then Guida in the kitchen agreed to stay late and cook us a late supper. Such amazing warm hospitality, we were really touched. The rooms were spotless, the food was great, the staff was great. We would definitely stay there again!

My stay at this hotel This hotel is nowhere near a 4-star standard; it feels more like a hostel. And, honestly, it is truly outrageous that it is marketed as accommodation of this category. We stayed in an annex building, opposite the main building, WITH NO ELEVATOR. A wonderful experience if, besides coming on holiday, you had also planned to work out with your luggage. THERE IS NO PARKING. The hotel is outside the city walls, and you have to carry your luggage up and down cobbled slopes for at least 5 minutes. Quite a premium welcome service to start your stay in a good mood. The room, or rather a tiny cell given how small it is, is so cramped that you can barely move. It doesn’t even have a small wardrobe where you can put your luggage. I suppose the idea is that guests should travel light… or simply leave their belongings in the car. The room has ONLY TWO POWER OUTLETS. In 2026, a true digital detox experience, although rather less voluntary than it sounds. The sink is inside the bedroom itself because the bathroom is too small to accommodate it. You can barely get into the shower because everything is so cramped. I suppose they have managed to make use of every available centimetre, although at the expense of the guest’s comfort. And the icing on the cake: when you take a shower, the steam sets off the fire alarm. Nothing better to start the day than a shower accompanied by a preventive evacuation. Not to mention that the doors seem to be made of cardboard, and you can hear absolutely everything happening in the neighbouring rooms. If you were looking for privacy and peace and quiet, this is definitely not the place. Here, you practically become part of your neighbours’ stay. THIS IS NOT A FOUR-STAR EXPERIENCE. IT IS A HOSTEL EXPERIENCE. The breakfast, however, did meet my expectations. It is varied, offers a good selection of healthy options, and the customer service is very good. At least here, there is something positive to highlight. I could go on describing this hostel, but I think you get the picture. To say something positive, the staff are very friendly and the surroundings are beautiful. Precisely because of that, it may be worth coming to visit the town for an afternoon, enjoying Óbidos and staying somewhere else. A shame, because the surroundings and location have enormous potential, but the accommodation experience is far from what one expects — and what one should expect — from a 4-star hotel.

Perfect stay here. The location is great within the castle walls. The receptionist was friendly and helpful with recommendations and the room was roomy with a great view of the castle walls.

Inside the castle walls, this hotel is amazing. When driving in, don't follow Google, park just outside the gates, behind the bank and pizza restaurant. There is a huge parking lot there and it's easy enough to get your bags to the room (the hotel can help with this if needed). Location is steller, walkable to all Obidos attractions. Our room was on the bottom floor with a balcony where we could see the castle walls. So cool. The breakfast was delicious too! Would be happy to stay again. The staff were also super helpful and friendly. 10 stars.
