This was a fantastic experience! One of the best we had in Oaxaca. Our host Su was warm, friendly and knowledgeable and made learning fun. The flavors of the authentic Oaxaca food we made were delicious, and we had fun getting to know the other travelers in our class. We highly recommend making time for this special experience!

Itinerary
First we will have a delicious hot chocolate and then, let's cook! We will cook everything in beautiful clay pots as is traditionally done in Oaxaca. With your help we will prepare a delicious breakfast, we will make sauces and tortillas, which you will make with your own hands and I will help you at every step. After breakfast, we will cook one of the seven Oaxacan MOLES and, of course, we will also make a delicious dessert, you will love it! I support local producers so the ingredients we will use will be fresh and organic, we will also harvest some of the ingredients from my own garden. To accompany the meal we will prepare a drink with the MEZCAL that my family has been producing for several generations.

Su and her team were welcoming and knowledgeable! Everything was well organized, including transportation. Class was very hands on and informative (both English and Spanish). We cooked as a team and enjoyed wonderful food together. Highly recommended!!
An excellent, in depth and hands on opportunity to learn about tradicional Oaxacan cuisine. The hosts were so kind, and encouraged everyone on the class to experiment with their own favorite flavors to make our experience special. I can’t wait to go home and try out my new cooking skills!
So happy we did this. Suzy (the chef) is so knowledgeable about the history of the food and culture around it. Made delicious salsas and learned the rules about what goes with what. The kitchen is the perfect set up and in the afternoon we made an incredible mole sauce. Highly recommend!
So glad we did this cook class, it was informative and fun. We got to do a lot of the prep work and got to fully appreciate the effort needed to make mole! Susana our host/chef and our translator was really friendly, and easy to communicate with. Would absolutely recommend this class… we had some of the best food!
The food, the setting and the people made this experience one of mine and my husband’s favorites. Loved every minute of it!
I loved this cooking class. We learned to cook several authentic Oaxacan recipes in Su's beautiful, traditional kitchen. We shared breakfast, lunch, hot chocolate and alcoholic beverages, along with so many foodie facts and stories. So delicious. So much fun. Don't miss this one!
This was a fantastic experience. We learned to cook some authentic Oaxacan recipes, along with hot chocolate, alcohol beverages, foodie facts and stories- all set in a beautiful outdoor kitchen. Great food. Great company. Don't think twice about this one. It was the perfect day.
This was not just a cooking class, it was a wonderful experience. Setting was beautiful, outdoor kitchen was beautiful and the food was incredible. I highly recommend!
My husband and I had a fantastic time! The food was delicious, the company was even better! Make sure you book this experience, you will not regret it :)
Sue created a fun and informative event. The dishes she selected were all delicious and her explanations of the history of the dishes enhanced the experience. All in all, it was a great way to spend a day and my husband and I highly recommend it.
Our cooking class with Gueta was excellent. It was educational and fun to learn about Oaxacan food. We prepared 2 meals which we all helped to make. Gueta is a great instructor and I would highly recommend this if you’re curious about Oaxacan food.
This was a fantastic experience. Sue was so warm and friendly. The food we made was great and the entire experience was amazing. We are sending my sister and her husband this week!
Su & Lis! Two of my favorite people in Oaxaca! I didn't have time to book early, so I was very grateful when this was available during my short trip to Oaxaca. The meet & transportation were smooth. Upon arrival, greeted with open arms. The class was fun, lively, informative, and very engaging! Hands on, great pace, and so delicious! The outdoor kitchen space is amazing, I'd love to have a space like that to entertain and cook outside at home!;) Memelas & moles, they made it seem so simple. Even as a chef, I left feeling so much more comfortable with my newfound love & knowledge of Oaxacan cuisine. Thank you ladies! Look forward to seeing you again someday! Cheers, Reino
Fantastic day cooking with Su! We were picked up on time and quickly transported to her location just outsize of Oaxaca where we spent a half day cooking and observing at her beautiful outdoor kitchen.
Sue and Lis ran an incredible experience. There were ten guests in our class and we still got personalized attention. We made a traditional chocolate drink, salsa, tortillas, mole, and a desert. We were picked up in front of Santa Domingo and driven to Sue’s home in an air conditioned car. The outdoor kitchen was clean, cool and well stocked. We were immediately made to feel comfortable. The experience was paced perfectly with a deep history of Oaxacan food culture taught to us while preparing. They perfectly engaged all ten guests. We arrived strangers and left with new friends. I highly recommend this experience for their knowledge, technique, taste and their patience.
What an excellent class. Our interpreter, was so knowledgable and informative about Mixtec (indigenous people from the Mixteca region) and spoke English very well. Our cook, Sue(?) was very patient and organized in teaching us the various steps in making a full course dinner using the traditional wood fired oven and clay stove top which included:It was a very full 4hours plus of immersion in this fabulous, rich cuisine. I highly recommend it. traditional hot chocolate, salsa, tortillas, and Mole Calorido. We learned about different moles both fresh and those that can be kept in advance. They served us a fresh orange juice cocktail spiced with a bit of mezcal for those who wihed and served us beers to drink along side the food we made. It wa
All the staff were very informative and kind. I do not like mole had it many times. But this was the best I ever had. I finished my entire plate. Had a great day at this class.
This was the most amazing outing we did in Oaxaca. The family was so nice and taught us not only how to cook their wonderful food but all about their traditions as well. We made hot coco, salsa, Memelitas and mole all from the freshest ingredients. We had so much fun and truly enjoyed this experience!
Su, the host, made us feel at home and the food we prepared was absolutely delicious. The drive to her house is really short and though it is a lengthy experience, the time flew by. It was a very nice experience to taste authentic Oaxacan food. I would do this activity all over again.
Such a great experience for my first solo trip. Our hosts were so welcoming and knowledgeable of the history and traditions to each item we prepared. I learned how to make my first Morita chili sauce and I have to say I’ll be making it again when I return home. We all came in as strangers and all left as friends. These types of events are such much fun because you meet so many people from all walks of lives trying to learn something new. Thank you to our wonderful hosts for sharing such wonderful recipes and their kitchen.
We loved this cooking class!! Su was very knowledgeable and patient with all of us. We started by making authentic Oaxacan chocolate and drank it with bread. It was very good! We made food from scratch and it was very delicious! Making tortillas with the masa and Memelitas was so fun and so yummy! Their daughter made a cocktail with Mezcal and Jamaica and it was excellent. We helped make yellow mole with chicken and it was so good! We truly loved the experience. Jorge her husband was very nice to pick us up from downtown. I highly recommend this class.
One of the top things to do in Oaxaca is learn to cook local dishes. Susana was an amazing teacher. She's from Oaxaca so she is familiar with all the local ingredients. Her class was so much fun. She was informative on all ingredients and steps to every receipe. The dishes we made were so tasty. Getting hands on to make our meal made me appreciate the local dishes we were eating while in Oaxaca. Her outdoor kitchen was beautiful and very accomadating. I highly recommend taking a cooking class at Gueta.
What a wonderful experience! Sue and her family treated us like were their own. From the fresh and delicious food to the easy instructions to the surprise birthday cake, this was the best way to spend my last day in my 40’s. I can’t recommend this experience enough. Thank you for the perfect day!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼
It was one of the best things we did during our short stay in Oaxaca. From a typical salsa to a memela, to mole coloradito with fried plantains, it was a very pleasant experience thanks to Su. We were able to meet other people from different parts of the world and learn how to make some of the most popular dishes in the region. We will return again to try other dishes. Highly recommended!
For us it was a wonderful experience, we had a great time! Su is super friendly and we felt at home, the best thing is that it has many utensils then we all participated even if we were as a couple! Thank you Su!
The experience was excellent! We learned about the traditional food and drinks of Oaxaca in a very typical atmosphere of the region; the hostess was very cordial and knowledgeable. Recommended!!
I went on 12/9, very good experience, we learned a lot, Su (the teacher) is very well prepared, he is a doctor is good in case something happens, we ate very healthy, fat free, all natural, with vegetables, natural products typical food of Oaxaca-Mexico. Her husband Jorge is in charge of transport to the kitchen, they make a good team. She has been communicating with you for days in case you have to explain that you are interested in cooking, that you are coeliac, etc.
Incredible from start to finish! “His” took care of every detail and shared a masterful cooking class with us! I learned, ate, drank and had fun with a group of people from all over the world! 100% recommended!!!
Great experience! Suu was a 5 star host and shared a great cooking class with us! I highly recommend this experience!
