Amazing Guide! Antonio was amazing, he is a native Zapoteco and gave our tour in English and Spanish, his knowledge is very deep and passionate. He takes his time along the tour to give detailed information about Monte Alban, if I ever come back I would love to take another tour with him!

It was a nice tour guide was knowledgeable and we spent the right amount of time there. Everything was on time and as described.
The tour guide was educational but had to speak in both Spanish and English and at times was hard to understand. We felt like we missed a lot of the education because of this.
I thought that our guide would use more English as my Spanish isn’t solid. The tour was amazing. Just wish I had understood more of the content.
Good value with authentic/local guide. Extremely knowledgeable. Half a day good enough to explore the place. I would recommend a full day if you want an extensive survey of the site.
Excellent tour, perfect length. Views were stunning and the history incredible. Our tour guide had expert knowledge. Just bring a hat and water and there is a small snack bar. They also had a small museum and gift shop
We went with Moises and had an excellent time! He was highly knowledgeable and very nice. No complaints.
Probably should wear a hat...maybe take some sunscreen. Also take plenty of water---there is a snack bar, but it closed before we finished sight seeing.
The ancient archelological site of Monte Alban is breathtaking and magnificent. Our guide Antonio was uniquely passionate, knowledgable and inspiring!! It was an unforgettable experience!! Thank you!!!
Our guide was very knowledgeable, made our experience great. Without our guide, the walk through the ruins would have been boring and it would have not made sense to us.
Roberto was our excellent driver with Moses our excellent tour guide. Moses is fluent in Spanish and English. He is very knowledgeable and his explanations very informative. Moses also has a great sense of humour. A terrific half day tour which allowed us plenty of time to explore. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
As it’s so close to the city a half day is perfect to visit Monte Alban. Gabriel our guide from OaxacaTours was excellent in delivering to us the requisite information in English and encouraging us to ask questions. It’s only 25-30 minutes by minibus to the car park from the centre of Oaxaca. The 8:30am departure got us back to the city at about 12:15pm leaving plenty of time to do something else.
Gabriel was very informative, professional, and helpful throughout the entire tour! Highly recommend!!!!!
This was a very interesting and fun visit to Monte Albán. Our guide knew a lot of history facts and was very informative.
Our guide, Moses, was careful and enthusiastic, and had a wealth of knowledge. He was also personable and considerate. Unfortunately, in spite of the information about the tour on the web, it was not suitable for my 92-year-old father. The terrain was not difficult after the initial walk up to the site, but there was very little shade and even fewer places to sit and rest. If he had been in a wheelchair, I think it would have been fine. My husband and father remained below the ruins, but I continued on with the walking tour, which was lovely and fascinating. I have been to many similar sites, but none of them are the same, and I learned new things.
It was a great experience! Antonio our guide was knowledgeable and one can see how much he loves the culture and history.
The guide was terrible. He gave one word answers to questions and we barely learned anything. Definitely don’t recommend.
This was a fantastic tour! Monte Alban was an amazing site to see, and our guide Daniel gave excellent information. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be walking and climbing some stairs, and definitely bring water as it was quite warm! I would definitely recommend this tour.
Monte Alban itself is a great place to visit and very interesting. However, there are many companies that offer tours and I cannot recommend this one. The guide who escorted us to the site in the mini bus was rude and aggressive when dealing with me, as a single female traveller this made me very uncomfortable. Select another tour company.
Beautiful transportation with expert driver and very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Learned a tremendous amount on the tour. Wish it was longer!
Great introduction of the site before we got there; good introduction in the museum of some of the findings on the site; and good overview of actual site as we walked about along with some free time.
Monserrat was our guide at Monte Alban and was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about this archaeological site. She was also very personable and her English was great. Lastly, it’s worth noting that she is a federally certified guide, having gone through rigorous training, which is not always the case with some of the other guides out there.
Great experience! Our guide was awsome at explaining the history of monte Albán and also gave us time for explore on our own. I’m very glad we booked this tour. It was fun and informative. You don’t want to come here and not take this tour.
The site is absolutely stunning, but he also had an excellent guide that explained what we were seeing, and most importantly, left us in peace to enjoy the site without being constantly followed.
The trip focused on Monte Alban and its history. Our tour guide - Antonio - was fantastic. He was well-versed in Spanish and English and took the pains to patiently describe the culture and history of this monumental site. The drive up to Monte Alban from Centro Historico is along narrow, winding roads; the driver of our van negotiated the winding curves expertly to get us to the site and back in a safe manner.
This was an excellent tour to visit Monte Alban and the length was perfect! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about both the nature surrounding the area as well as the site itself. The only small issue is that the van is very claustrophobic and I was in the back and couldn’t see out the windows as we drove, but the distance to the site was only about 1/2 hour so this wasn’t that big of an issue.
Our guide knows his material. He explained so much about the history of Monte Alban and the significance of the different structures.
I appreciated being able to go with a group as it made it easier to get there and return. The guide was pleasant and helpful as was the driver. I would have appreciated more time in the site and less in the museum entrance where he wanted to teach us words in his language and culture. I was there to learn about Monte Albán. We missed a good part of the far end of the site. I also thought I signed up for a four hour tour door to door but it was over 5 hours. I also thought I signed up for an English tour but it was in two languages so the explanations were not as deep and took twice as long.
Our guide was knowledgeable and gave us wonderful information about this interesting and beautiful site. I was particularly interested in learning about the variety of prehispanic cultures in this area, and some insight into the various languages and traditions, with a focus on a proud Zapotec tradition.
This was a well organised, fun tour that provided a wealth of information. I would highly recommend to everyone!
Very sunny so a hat and sunscreen are a must. Be prepared for stone stairs and uneven ground. There is a small museum, washrooms, a place to buy water and snacks and a restaurant on site. The tour was well organized, transport was excellent and the guide was great, very fluent. He collected money (or tickets people had purchased online) to purchase a group entrance ticket while folks had a chance to use the toilets. All very efficient.
We actually changed from a half a day to a full day tour, and it was worth it. Good slow pace to visit sites.
A lot packed into a half day trip lots of climbing. The guide was excellent told us about many of the civilization that I never had heard of there's a museum on the site as well
The guide was really good at explaining the different eras, people and history. The site itself is gorgeous. The trip to and from very comfortble
This experience was awe inspiring. The area is beautiful. It's impact is massive. Our tour guide, Moses, was incredibly knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour.
Great tour. Good pace and a very knowledgeable guide. A really stunning piece of Mexican history. Well worth it. Would recommend.
This was an excellent trip with a good driver and a very knowledgeable guide. Lot of information about the area and its peoples , languages and religions.
Antonio was our guide - he was very knowledgeable and spoke both Spanish and English. Was a great experience
Whilst monte alban is a really impressive site (the views are brilliant and the pyramids beautiful) - the tour guide left a lot to be desired. He was unenthusiastic and rushed and didn’t translate the majority of his description into English which was a shame. We got most of the information from the boards in the museum and site!
My wife and I had a great tour of Monte Albán with Daniel as the group tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend it to others.
This was an amazing tour and a must see when you visit Oaxaca! Our tour guide was a retired archeologist and she was excellent. I had toured the Museo de Antropologia the day before, which gave me context. Along with the guided tour, we were given an ample amount of time to explore the ruins on our own. I highly recommend taking a formal tour, rather than doing it on your own.
I was looking for an affordable way to visit just Monte Alban (instead of a full day tour with many stops) and this tour exceeded expectations. It was well organized, transport was comfortable (not too many people) and our guide did an excellent job of setting up context, explaining the most interesting aspects of the site and then there was plenty of time to wander the central area on our own. Tip: You don't have to purchase from the first artisans that approach you, there will be more and I recommend you have a hearty breakfast, bring water and a hat is very useful at this elevation.
Very impressive site. Great guide who was very informative. I wasn't aware of the Zapotec culture which was over 2000 years old and left traces of their civilization on Monte Alban where their culture originated.
Our tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable I definitely recommend booking. He showed us how things were made and the history he made it very fun.
Visiting Monte Albán is terrific, but a good guide takes it to another level entirely. We were lucky to get that experience on this tour. He opened our eyes to so many secrets and explained so much about the ruins. Truly fantastic.
Great experience, incredibly knowledgeable guide that added rich details! Made the trip memorable, despite an unexpected local marathon that caused a detour and delay to the Monte Alban tour. Creative adjustment !
The experience was excellent, but I felt a little passed around because the other travelers on my tour were doing a full day experience, so I was transmitted to a different vehicle for the ride back to town. Still, if that's my only complaint, they did really great!
This is a must see in Oaxaca. I was so fortunate to have an amazing tour with such a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. Unfortunately I cannot remember my guides name (ultimate no no, I know) however, I went on May 25, 2026 @8:30-12:30- you were wearing dark pants, and a white tucked in shirt. Sir, when I tell you I am so appreciative of the knowledge you shared with my mother and I. You left a lasting impression on us and we thank you for your passion and love of history telling. You were so kind to my mother and helped her up the steps so she could enjoy the best view. Thank you for sharing Monte Alban with us. Blessings.
Our tour guide, Clemente, was so knowledgeable and responsive to our questions. Everyone in our group enjoyed the tour, ages 11-52!
Great value with this tour. Our guide was an actual archaeologist who had worked on this site as well as other sites around the world, so he provided a really cool perspective.
