Tip Top Tacos

If you’re looking for an authentic, unforgettable experience in Huatulco, I cannot recommend the Tip Top Tacos tour with Maria Rosa enough. This was unlike any food tour I have ever booked or experienced. Maria Rosa met us in the town plaza. From there, we walked through town visiting five different taco spots and restaurants, each with its own unique flavors, history, and style. Our first stop was “Raíces,” a more elevated restaurant experience. The portions were smaller, but everything was so incredibly delicious. We made our own salsa de molcajete and sampled a variety of plates that were beautifully prepared. The drinks were amazing, and the staff and service were exceptional. Our next stop was a taco stand, and the tacos there were seriously so good. After that, we visited a Japanese fusion spot where we had sushi rolls filled with Mexican flavors, avocado sake, and the most buttery edamame ever. Then we headed several blocks outside the town center to another restaurant with such a cool aesthetic and atmosphere. The chef there is a star! His carne en su jugo was absolutely amazing, and once again, the drinks did not disappoint. Our final stop was another local taco spot where we tried their tlayuda mixta, which was SO good. By the end of the tour, we were completely stuffed. Every single location is somewhere I would 100% revisit on my own. To top it all off, Maria Rosa gifted us her signature “Next Drop Huatulco” tote bags with a sweet treat inside, which was such a thoughtful touch. Maria Rosa herself is truly quite the character in the best way possible. She has an amazing relationship with the staff and owners at every place we visited, which made the experience feel even more personal and special. She’s knowledgeable about the city, passionate about the culture, and you can genuinely tell how much she loves my beloved Mexico. She also had trivia questions for us throughout the tour, which was both really cute and educational. This experience felt less like a tourist activity and more like spending the evening with a local friend who genuinely wants you to experience the best of Huatulco through its food and people. I would highly, highly recommend this tour.

I wish i had known in advance that this tour was over 4 hours away from the city center of Oaxaca. I had to cancel because taxi was $173usd one way! For foreigners that don’t know Oaxaca, it would have been very helpful to disclose the distance from this place. I list $70usd because perhaps I did not do my due diligence and I take accountability but i wanted to let ppl know so they don’t waste their money like I did so be aware.

Mary Rose was very kind and flexible as we had cab issues and arrived 15 minutes late! She was very gracious. We were introduced to wonderful food and drink…ranging from fancy to street tacos and ended up in a sky bar. The tour was not at all rushed, and we all had a very enjoyable and tasty time! Mary Rose was a wealth of information and stories.

Mary Rose was on time at the place we were to meet. She anticipated what she thought I would enjoy and introduce me to some very special appetizers. She was right in her assessment and I would say that you can trust her taste buds. She knows the culture of haultuco community and she has a kind heart for people.

Tour guide was a no show. We waited over an hour but nobody came. Very disappointing and we are trying to get a refund

An amazing taco tour! Mary Rose curated fantastic restaurants with specialized menus and cocktails, and we learned so much about the local culture. We were completely stuffed by the end and even had to skip a couple stops. Highly recommend!

Excellent food and drink. The grilled sushi 🍣 was amazing. So many offerings of tacos, couldn't believe how many there are. You have to arrive starving, there is so much tasty food and drink offered. Maryrose really knows the restaurant offerings in Huatulco.

We had an AMAZING taco tour with Maryrose - simply INCREDIBLE! My daughter gifted us this tour and I wish I had known about it on previous Huatulco trips because I would definitely have booked it! Maryrose took us to amazing taquerias with absolutely mouth-watering tacos ... I am still dreaming of them! She is so knowledgable about the area and all the hidden gems around town ... she treats you like family which we truly appreciated! I have already told friends that we are booking the walking taco tour on our next trip! I HIGHLY recommend this tour, an easy 11/10! This is one tour that will keep you coming back for more! This was a fantastic way to spend some time discovering hidden gems in Huatulco that I would not otherwise have been aware of. The food and beverages were amazing, surpassed only by the host Mary Rose. Her knowledge of Huatulco and the surrounding area is deep; she is a very warm person with a great sense of humor. I would recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about cuisine, and general life, in Huatulco. It would be particularly enjoyable for those folks staying at the all inclusive hotels, as the tour opens up a whole new experience in Huatulco if you just stay and eat at the hotel. Tip Top Taco writes in its description to come hungry. I think it should say come starving. Each dish was original and local. I would happily go on the this tour over and over again as the options appear limitless. P.S. Definitely try the first drink at the first stop!

A large group of college friends decided to celebrate a friends big 50 birthday in Mexico. We live in Texas so Mexico is an easy getaway. Huatulco is quickly becoming our favorite destination. I was the "cruise director" for one outing. Did I score big! I met a local woman on the plane and she was a wealth of knowledge. She told me about a new tour called Tip Top Tacos. We are accustomed to Tex/Mex food, but Mexican food is different. This tour was not just street tacos. We started at a beautiful restaurant and ended at an amazing restaurant with truly original twists on Mexican/Oaxacan cuisine. The chef was available and answered our questions and gave us a quick lesson on what makes Oaxacan food different from food in the other 32 states in Mexico. (There was a stop on the tour for street tacos.) All of us were delighted with our tour. Maryrose (our guide) made the evening special as she knows how to have fun and she is packed with knowledge of Huatulco. Go on this tour early in your stay so you can enjoy the TTT tour and garner Maryrose's tips as she was very generous with sharing information.

We had a super tour with MaryRose, touring restaurants and taco carts. Fabulous cocktails accompanied our food. We went to places we otherwise would not have considered. A taco tour of Crucecita can start and stop in many ways, but Maryrose has curated an exceptional experience that flirts with everything from haute cuisine to the humble taco carts, always delicious bites. A wonderful adaptable guide, you will have a warm and personally tailored experience, we could not recommend it more, thank you for the amazing evening!

Alla and Jorge were fantastic hosts who treated us to some of the best foods Huatulco has to offer. Do not eat before you go. So much amazing food from Tacos to avocado sake martinis you won’t be disappointed. Such a fun night. I would highly recommend this tour.

Just returned from a lovely evening exploring some amazing restaurants offering some amazing tacos and drinks. It’s obvious that Maryrose loves what she does and really wants you to have a tip top experience. We visited some fantastic restaurants that we wouldn’t have found ourselves and sampled a variety of types of tacos. It made for an evening that will be a big part of the memories we’ll have of this trip! Glad we took this tour early in our vacation - we have time to go back and visit these restaurants again!

The tacos were all very good! …as for the rest of tour that’s where it ended for us. Over priced for what is offered! Yes drinks are included but not all of us want alcoholic beverages. Maryrose was kind but struggled as a guide … she is a local (not from MX and Spanish speaking somewhat?)

If you're visiting Huatulco and love a good food adventure, this taco tour is a must! We sampled 4 incredible spots, each offering something unique and would not have found on our own. From restaurants to taco stands to a final end in fine dining experience, this tour had it all! Each stop brought a different vibe offering creative dishes and cervezas aka beers:) The sushi taco (no fish) was my fave and nice unexpected surprise stop. As a bonus, we even explored an additional spot for an authentic local cocktail—Mezcal lovers will not be disappointed! Whether you’re in the mood for street food, a fine dining experience, or a local drink, Mary Rose gives you the best of all worlds and will customize your tour! Verdict: 5 stars—delicious, diverse, and unforgettable! Will be back!

We had a great time on this taco tour. All the tacos we had were fantastic and some very unique. Mary Rose really did a great job explaining the town of Hualtuco and the culture here. Rosie her assistant was excellent as well helping making everything run smooth. I highly recommend this tour to anyone!!! Mary Rose did an excellent job making a beautiful memory for our group of friends. We will definitely return and explore more adventures with Mary Rose.

Amazing experience!! Mary Rose took us to places we never would’ve found on our own. The best tacos!! We had a great experience with the food and drink!! We wanted for nothing… I’m so happy my girlfriend found this tour for us!! I wish we would’ve done it sooner!! What is not to love?Our tour visited an assortment of five completely different taco dining experiences. We never anticipated to have so much enjoyment on a taco tour. I am Mexican and thought I knew everything there was to know about tacos, but boy was I wrong. We decided to go on this tour because my wife is American and has not had the full experience of what tacos can be. We started at the market and moved onto the best restaurant in Huatulcogo and from there it was everything in between. The tour was scheduled for 3 1/2 hours, but we went way over the time limit. Our guide Maryrose could not have been more gracious. My wife and I unanimously recommend this tour.

Terrific way to pass an evening in La Crucecita. Mary was our guide and we spent a delightful evening visiting local taco restaurants and street carts. All tasty! No one was at a loss for words which made the tour enjoyable and Mary had a trivia quiz for us about Oaxaca and we learned a great deal about this great state in Mexico. It is well work it to get off the resorts and go exploring.

My groom and myself got lucky, and had Maryrose our guide all to ourselves (due to a last-minute cancellation). Tip Top Taco tour is just that. Add a few cold beers and you have a perfect culinary match. Next Stop Huatulco was our favorite evening and it was at the end of our honeymoon and we just wished we had more time to go on other tours.
