An unforgettable day. Ismael was a fantastic driver and guide. We were one of the first people to arrive at Hierve el Agua that day and it was amazing to be there with very few other people around. Ever stop was brilliant. Would recommend this trip to anyone looking to explore and learn.

Itinerary
Only 20 minutes from the city will be the maximum archaeological zone that Oaxaca has, guided tour within the zone. Monte Alban is the maximum Zapotec capital, it is spectacular and we are going to give you every historical detail of the place.
The town of Teotitlán del Valle is located 30 kilometers from the city of Oaxaca and its meaning is "place of the gods", in the Nahuatl league. It is famous thanks to the quality and beauty of its wool textile products: rugs, jackets, bags, sarapes, tapestries, "corridors", carpeting, curtains and dresses, made on large wooden looms and decorated with natural dyes, whose designs go from the traditional Zapotec and Mixtec frets and griffins, to reproductions of contemporary painters. The elaboration of its textile is 100% handmade from the washing of the wool obtained from the sheep in the river, the carding of the wool, the elaboration of the thread through the spinning wheel, the use of natural dyes based on insects and variety of plants, until completion on their pedal looms.
We have time to make a stop try the gastronomy of Oaxaca we have many options, it can be the market, restaurant, local dining rooms, a small stall, the gastronomy of Oaxaca is on site everywhere. The tour guide will give you the best option for you to eat. (Food not included)
70 kilometers from the city of Oaxaca, is located one of the most spectacular natural places in the state, the petrified waterfalls of Hierve el Agua, nestled between the mountains of the Sierra Mixe, in this place you can walk and even swim as it has 3 pits that if the weather allows you to swim, go prepared with your bathing suit and towel. A place that will leave you shocked with the view you have being at the top of the waterfall. You'll be able to swim so wear your swimsuit.
It is time to try and know the process of mezcal, they have more than 15 different flavors, which can have the opportunity to try their 100% artisan process. (You can only have the tasting of mezcal over 21 years old)

Great way to spend the day seeing the countryside outside of the city while seeing the Hierve el Agua and Monte Alban. Yaneth was a balanced informative guide. She gave us plenty of background information, but gave us time to be quiet and talk within our group. We appreciated that there was no pressure to at the textile and mezcal workshops, just opportunities. We learned a lot and was able to purchase some great mezcal to help remember Oaxaca.
We had a fabulous day! This was a long day, but oh so much fun and we learned so much about the area. Would highly recommend.
Great tour, highly recommended. Our tour guide Amando was fantastic and so knowledgeable about the Oaxaca region and ruins. If you do this private tour ask for Amando.
Amazing full day experience that our family loved. The tour was tailored to our needs and our tour guide Ismael was amazing and very knowledgeable. We would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oaxaca.
Cesar was a great guide and provided history and many facts.. answered our endless questions! Our highlight other than Alban, waterfall and chocolate stop was the textile demonstration and family... it was a day well spent and would take the tour again!
We had an amazing time. Yareth was very thorough and knowledgeable about the historical sites. Communication with her was amazing because she is truly bilingual.
We had an amazing time learning about Oaxaca with our incredible tour guide Daniel. From the historical tour of Monte Albán to swimming in the pools at Hierve el Agua to learning about textiles and mezcal, we did it all. This was an excellent way to take in a number of sights in a relatively short trip. I highly recommend. Daniel and team were kind, thoughtful, and keen on providing a great experience. 10 out of 10... No notes!
All day Event Oaxaca Tour Guide My friend and I signed up for an all-day tour. We had a wonderful and a positive experience! Our guide David S. was wonderful and very patient with us and is very knowledgeable about the places he took us too. He picked us up at our house where we're staying and the first stop was to the ruins of Monte Albon. We didn't do the full tour but what we saw was amazing! And he told us a lot about the ruins and the Zapotec that use to live there. Next stop was the textiles. Descendants of the indigenous Zapotec still kept their rug making craft alive. We were then given a demonstration of how they made the dyes using natural materials. For example, a fungus that grows on the cactus comes out red when squished. When mixed with other natural materials like a flower or a lime, it can come out orange or purple! Next stop was the petrified waterfall. Now there are two ways to get there: a toll road that is twenty five minutes or a winding road for about forty minutes. While the winding road was interesting, after a while my friend and I were starting to get a little motion sickness. So beware if you have severe motion sickness, I strongly recommend taking the toll road to and from the petrified water fall. Once there, sadly, our guide was not allowed to join us in the area. He explained the locals are very protective of the place and do not want any outside guides to enter. There are a couple of food vendors where you can sit and relax. There is some merchandise to purchase and a bathroom nearby as well. There is a long steep path down to the lake. So be prepared for a steep climb down and back. Once down at the lake there is another bathroom to use. The lake itself is beautiful. I didn’t get in but my friend dipped her toes in. Maybe because it was overcast and the sun wasn't able to heat up the lake, my friend said it was freezing cold and unexpectedly slimy when she got in. Be prepared for weather conditions and slimy texture. Final stop was to a mezcal making place. Unfortunately, at this point it was raining hard so we weren't given the full tour. Instead my friend and I were given the explanation on each drink on the difference of taste when mixed with another ingredient and the age of the mezcal and the plant it was made from. Starting from 9am to finishing around 5 or 6pm it was a very long day! A very fun and positive experience! I highly recommend taking this adventure!
Yareth was absolutely amazing! She was extremely knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about what she does. Hearing her personal story made the experience even more special. You could really tell how much she loves sharing the history and beauty of Oaxaca with others. Monte Albán was absolutely breathtaking! I especially loved how Yareth introduced us to the site, explained its history, and gave us time to take in the incredible scenery. She made the experience so much more meaningful than simply walking around and taking pictures. Even at the other stops, including the waterfall and mezcal tasting, she had so much interesting information to share. She never made us feel rushed and was always happy to answer questions. Overall, this was one of the highlights of my trip to Oaxaca! If you’re considering this tour, book it and ask for Yareth. You won’t regret it! I would absolutely do it again!
Irving was the absolute BEST guide we could have! He was very well educated and knew his history and guided us with full confidence. Taking us to the Tonal Ancestral workshop was one of the many highlights of our trip. I will be back and ask for him again and it was truly a beautiful and magical day! Muchas Gracias! Laney, Silvi, and Franklin
We loved our private tour with Irvin! He arrived right on time in a large, clean and comfortable car with extra water for us. Throughout the tour he provided interesting and useful information at the right times and in the right amounts in perfect English, and he was happy to answer all our questions. We enjoyed every stop on the trip and Irvin’s willingness to adjust it to our personal preferences. Highly recommended!
Well-paced tour that gets you to all the major sites nearby. Our guide Daniel was friendly and knowledgeable and went out of his way to make this a special experience. We didn’t have to worry about a single detail. It was the perfect day! Thanks again Daniel!
Yareth was fantastic. We spent the entire day. She was knowledgeable, smart, helpful and fun. I would definitely recommend her!
This is a great way to see multiple spots in the mountains outside of Oaxaca in one day. Irvin was very nice and knowledgeable, also very accommodating! I’d recommend to anyone interested in 2+ of these activities.
We highly recommend this tour! Our group of 3 friends had a private tour with Irvin and had a perfect day! The tour was well-timed and a good mix of different types of activities. Irvin was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Great experience in Oaxaca!
This is an absolute must to do when you are in Oaxaca City. There is so much to learn about the mexican culture on this tour! We ate at a hacienda owned by a family near Hierve el Agua and it was hands down the best meal and hot chocolate on this trip. My boyfriend had a coffee and even thst was good. Hierve el Agua was spectacular and we practically had the whole place to ourselves since I booked the earliest tour. Monte Alban was stunning and we have a new appreciation for fabric weaving and the color dying process. Our guide Miguel was so friendly, knowledgeable and accomodating. We had alot of fun learning about even his family's contribution to Oaxacan culture. A 10/10 for sure and ask for Miguel! Thank you Miguel ❤️
The sights were wonderful to visit, as we had ample time to explore at each stop. Miguel was a great tour guide. He was insightful and courteous. A+++
This was the best tour! A wonderful experience seeing all of the amazing sights! Miguel was an incredible guide as he was very knowledgeable and patient, we could not have asked for better, make sure you ask for him! A full day but time flew by as the experiences unfolded. I especially enjoyed Monte Alban! When visiting Oaxaca I highly recommend this tour with Miguel, you will have an opportunity to see and experience some of the best Oaxaca has to offer! Thanks for a wonderful day Miguel.
What an amazing experience! Daniel was professional, punctual, informative and tons of fun. He picked us up from our airbnb in a comfortable and clean suburban, plenty of room for the 7 of us. We toured Monte Alban, with details and insight from Daniel throughout the walk. Lots of steps up and down, with incredible views. The 2nd stop at Casa Ollin to learn about the multi-generational process of the artistry and craftsmanship involved in weaving was so much more than we expected, not to be missed. Then on to Hierve el Agua to see the natural pools and petrified waterfalls, spending a bit of time afterward for beverages and food. Then on to the mezcal tasting! After an informative tour to learn the lengthy process of making mezcal, we proceeded to taste, and taste, and taste some more. Throughout the day, Daniel remained fun and informative, never rushing us on to the next location. We returned after a full day, again right to our Airbnb. Overall, the tour was better than we expected. Thanks Daniel, as always, we are 'hopelessly devoted to you!' Debbie, Mary, Dena, Michelle, Scott, Dewayne and Jason
It’s a long day, but you get to see so much, with ample time at each location. A great way to immerse yourself into Oaxacan history and culture.
It was great. Sites were beautiful. Bring swim suit if you want to swim at hieva agua. Yaris was very knowledgeable but the tour at monte alban was rushed. We weren’t anle to visit the museum. We weren’t given too much info about hierva. We had a mexican buffet for lunch. Mescal tasting was very informative. We got to taste the harshest and smoothest mezcal
Daniel who was our main guide, was excellent. So was Miguel, who helped with the tour at Monte Albán. both had a superior understanding of English, and were very knowledgeable about history, nature, customs, and general culture. the tour itself encompassed a nice variety of stops. And Daniel was very amenable to us skipping the Mezcal factory/tasting and adding the Tule tree to our itinerary.
Miguel was a fantastic guide. His English is great, and he has a wonderful sense of humor. Besides that, the four experiences were all unique. We couldn't decide which we liked best.
Everything from the booking to the pickup to the end of the day laughter was wonderful. Our guide, Yareth spoke Spanish and English equally well and clearly loves what she does. Her stories about the sights and history were engaging and personalized so none of it felt like a classroom lecture about Zapotec history. The trip to and through Monte Albon were brilliantly detailed with the archeological process and the understanding of the culture that once called that space home. We highly recommend this tour if you like a personalized, convenient experience. Also, if you visit the Hierve del Agua, and you get to choose your lunch spot, consider the small kitchen for an authentic Tlayudas or Memelas.
Our tour guide was great and the experience was good on the whole but ‘hierve de agua’ was disappointing to say the least. Our fault as we wanted to include it but it was not worth the journey.
Daniel was a great tour guide-knowledgeable, super driver and playlist :). Knows his mezcal! Thank you!
We had a very good time on this all day experience. Our guide Irvin was knowledgeable, friendly and managed the time at each place and the details of the visits extremely well. His driving was excellent too
Absolutely amazing tour! Cannot rate Miguel high enough. He was knowledgeable and passionate about his home and it made the places we visited come alive. We never felt rushed during the tour. If you do one tour in Oaxaca this should be it - you won't regret it!
What a fabulous day out! The combination of Monte Alban, Hierva de Agua as well as a textile shop and mezcal producer is the perfect day out. Our guide Ismail was amazing- super knowledgeable and helpful.
A wonderful way to experience a lot of the must dos in Oaxaca in one trip! Ismael was our tour guide and so knowledgeable, kind, and easy to work with. We started early which was great because we beat the heat and the crowds. If possible, get a trip with him!
Ismail was awsome!! 10 out of 10. He arrived early at 5:45am and encouraged us to take naps between stops if the drive was long, which I did. He was very patient and tweeked the tour to our wants/needs. Even though the tour went over by 2 hrs . He was still very patient. The SUV was clean and comfortable with air con. When we got to Monte El alban he switched seamlessly from driver to tour guide. You can't go wrong with him!!
Yareth, our private tour guide, very knowledgeable and excited to share her Zapotec roots. Highly recommend her & team
Monte Alban was an impressive experience and our guide Miguel enriched us with his knowledge of the culture and history . Agua de Hierve was fun for the teenagers. It was disappointing we were not able to go down into the canyon. But, that was our choice due to how much time it would take. Teotitlan del valle textile presentation was outstanding. It was like magic to see how the natural dies were made. The mescal place was disappointing. It would have been better to be out among the agave plants and see the real process. It was too touristy for us. We had some extra time and our guide was kind to take us to the magnificent tree in Santa Maria del Tule and well worth the side trip. Tule has such a charming park and cathedral, as well.
Great full day! Monte Alban and Teotitlan del Valle were the highlights. The archaeological site is truly spectacular. Learning about rug making using natural dyes in Teotitlan del Valle and visiting the studio was also awesome. Our guide Miguel was fantastic - knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic. A+++ It was a full cultural experience we will not forget.
This tour was an incredible way to experience some of the highlights around Oaxaca in one day. Everything was very well organized from start to finish, and the day never felt rushed despite covering several amazing places. Monte Alban was fascinating, and our guide did a great job explaining the history and significance of the site. Hierve el Agua was absolutely stunning and gave us enough time to walk around, take photos, and enjoy the views. The visit to Teotitlan del Valle was a wonderful cultural experience. We loved learning about the traditional weaving process and natural dyes. The mezcal stop was the perfect way to end the day. It was informative, fun, and there was no pressure to buy anything, which we really appreciated. Overall, the guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic, making the experience even better. This tour offers excellent value for money and is perfect for anyone wanting to learn more about Oaxaca’s history, culture, and traditions. Highly recommended!
A wonderful day! Daniel was a fantastic tour guide - entertaining, friendly and knowledgeable. This was a fantastic day to hit a few ‘must-sees’ in a single day. Having our own car definitely helped make the length of the day feel manageable - we weren’t stuck to an itinerary. There was a spot specific tour guide at each place (except Hierve el agua which was an explore on your own) and I have to mention Ishmael in particular at Monte Alban. He was absolutely awesome. Infectious energy, so knowledgeable and made the 2 hours at the temple particularly memorable.
Miguel was an amazing guide! So much better than expected... The ruins were some of the best ever.!!
This was 10/10. Irwin our driver and main tour guide was friendly, flexible, and knowledgeable. Each stop had an awesome guide and experience as well. We were comfortable, felt taken care of and was able to relax and enjoy while taking in the culture, the history, and the sites!
We had a fantastic day exploring the various places around Oaxaca, complementing perfectly our days in the city and fitting in just enough for one day, with not too much time on the road, a bit of walking (for all levels) and lots of interesting insights. We lucked out with Daniel who was not only extremely knowledgeable and a smooth driver but a wonderful companion for the whole day. Our highlight was probably Monte Alban because this was where his impact was most felt while he showed us around and explained everything so well. Highly recommended tour!
We had an amazing experience with our tour guide Ismael - he picked us up in a very nice car and drove us safely to all of the attractions. He was very knowledgeable about all sites and even more important he was a super nice guy!! We had a great day with him and would recommend Ismael to everyone :)
This was a wonderful tour of Oaxaca and cultural sites. Our guide Yareth was awesome and really educated us about the history of Oaxaca and each place we went. The van was nice, spacious and clean. The sites we visited were all interesting and many were beautiful (ie: great photos!) Would highly suggest this!
Miguel was so knowledgeable, friendly and a great driver! I feel like we hit so much in a short period of time, highly recommend!
The tour was awesome and amazing! Our guide, Irvin, was the best!! He was so nice and outgoing! We had a wonderful time at every stop!
We were blessed with Ismael as our driver/tour guide. Very personable and knowledgeable. You could tell he loved his job! The car was newer and clean.
Highly recommend. Ivan was a wonderful host that was incredibly helpful with our two children (1 and 3). He was engaging, knowledgable, and flexible. Given the overall price, I could not recommend the private tour enough as it truly allows you to enjoy the overall experience in a ways that is completely customized to your own tastes.
This full day experience is packed with unforgettable moments. We absolutely loved it. Ismael is fantastic!! We highly recommend this tour!
Great! Our tour guide Jesus was knowledgeable and nice. We decided to change up some of the things we wanted to do and he was great and on time.
Ivan was our tour guide, he was amazing and exceeded our expectations. He was so kind, funny and very knowledgeable about all the locations we went to and Oaxaca culture. We didn’t feel rushed at each location and were able to go at our own pace which we loved. We got to learn a lot about the local culture and saw monte Albán without the large crowds, got to see some beautiful rugs and learned about all the work it takes to make them and the details and meaning of the each rug, stopped at a small Mezcalería to see the whole process. We highly recommend this tour.
My guide Daniel was awesome. I ended up having a private tour because of numbers. Daniel was informative but casual
