We paid for a few extra hours to do Monte Albán, but they kept the allotted time of 9-5pm and we had to choose to do either the Mezcal tasting or the textiles, not both.

For our family of 4 with different energy levels and dietary needs, it was great to have this private tour. The textile house and mezcal tour were very interesting and zero pressure to buy. The driver was on time and courteous and we appreciated that he also took us to the tule tree. What would have been better is if the driver also could have been more of a guide - telling us about the area, the history or the different stops, rather than just functioning as a driver.
We had a great day with Edi. & Abram! She was so funny, kept the tour interesting for the entire day! Which is not easy, haha!
What an amazing experience . Ede was and amazing host very knowledgeable and very dedicated to her mission. We did many things in one single day and we learn a lot of the Oaxaca culture and traditions. Highly recommend it !!
This tour was disappointing. They switched out the driver/tour guide last minute without telling us, and the whole experience was not very good. He provided little to no direction, dropping us off at the first stop and even letting us walk in the wrong direction until another tour guide kindly pointed out the way. He also was not waiting for us in or anywhere near the van after that stop and said he had gone to lunch - at 11 am when lunch in Mexico is usually at 2pm and with no warning. The whole day was like that. Little information on where he was taking us and what to expect. Our first experience with Viator that has not been positive.
We went on an all day prearranged tour with Emillio who went above and beyond to show us a good time in comfort. He speaks perfect English knows the history and the areas surrounding Oaxaca, Hierve de Agua, restaurants, weavers Mezcal making, etc. It was a perfect day. I highly recommend him.
The first and most memorable stop on our tour was to the workshop of the Vasquez family of master weavers in Teotitlan del Valle. We were treated to a thorough tour of the entire process of weaving, from carding and spinning the wool, through the dyeing process, and finally weaving rugs and other items using the same ancient patterns and dyes the Zapotec people originated thousands of years ago. Everyone was so welcoming and eager to share their expertise with us. Next, our excellent guide, Jeshua, took us to Hierve el Agua, to see the fascinating petrified waterfalls and wander around the pools, although we didn't go swimming. Since Jeshua wasn't allowed to accompany us to the waterfalls, it would have been nice if there had been someone else there to tell us more about the origin and the stories surrounding these interesting mineral formations, but we enjoyed seeing them nonetheless. We then made a brief stop at a mezcal distillery for an interesting tour and tasting. Overall this was a great day trip and we enjoyed spending time with our very personable and knowledgeable guide, although there was one brief hiccup at the start of the day, when a non-English-speaking guide showed up at our airbnb to pick us up. The confusion was quickly resolved when Jeshua called us and arranged to meet at a nearby pickup location.
Today we toured the petrified water fall, weaving village and had lunch. What a fantastic tour! Our guide, Alberto Teton was amazing. He shared so much information about the area, its history, and happily attended to our every need. We were extremely happy with our guide, his company and our tour. I highly recommend them.
We had a great time with Javier! We were impressed by his knowledge of the history, culture, and flora of the region. Driving was smooth, everything was seamless.
Jose was incredible! Full of knowledge and kept us safe on the crazy road to Hierve el Agua! Clean safe vehicle and have us plenty of time at local stops. This tour is incredible, the beauty of Oaxaca is very special and you get to experience it on this tour. Highly recommend the textile tour as the guide was a great teacher and the fabric art is amazing.
Highly recommend this tour! We did this with two adults and a 10 year old. Something for everyone! Private car and driver was wonderful.
We had a great experience on this tour. We took our 4 years old and 20 months old with us and we all enjoyed the adventure. Bathing in the natural pools was awesome, we skipped the hike to accommodate for our grumpy toddler and it was the right call as we could still get a good view of the waterfall and get some awesome pics .This was the kiddos favorite by far. The drive is epic (great views and dirt roads) but our van was super comfy and Javier is a master driver in bustling Oaxacan traffic and on mountain roads. The mezcal tour at Don Agave was great too with a delicious lunch and a very knowledgeable guide and this was my husband's favorite. My personal favorite was touring the gallery of Isaac Vasquez, a master in traditional textile making who was so welcoming and took great pride in his art. So a bit of fun for everyone on this day trip. And finally, thank you to our very patient driver and excellent guide Javier and Ariana at Enjoy Oaxaca who was very helpful with setting up pick up and sending reminders ahead of the trip.
Had a great time yesterday visiting the waterfalls and mezcal tasting at the distillery. However the highlight of our tour was our wonderful driver Alberto! Such a lovely guy and so helpful and insightful.
My wife and I really enjoyed our tour. It was wonderful learning about the handmade rugs and other products at Teotilan. We enjoyed our hike and chilling at the pools afterwards at Hierve el Agua which is a beautiful sight and the mezcal tasting was perfect to end off the tour. 5/5 definitely worth it. Javier was an excellent tour guide and driver.
Javier conducted our private tour and he was amazing! Very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend 👌
We (3 people) did a private tour of Hierve Aqua Falls and Mitla. Our tour guide Xavier was knowledgeable, prompt, accommodating and a good driver. Our local guide at Hierve Falls was excellent. Showed us things we never would have noticed. We also visited Mitla and the local guide there was excellent. He brought the ruins to life for us.
Great tour and hike! Our tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly showed us around. Highly recommended
I just thought of this tour because I am looking to buy rugs from the amazing weaver we met. I think about those rugs all the time. Everybody we met was so knowledgeable and welcoming. Very thabkful to have met such beautiful people that equally gave us a thoroughly educational experience.
Our tour was a bit different from this description, as it included Mitla. We were picked up at 8:00am sharp by our friendly, English speaking driver, Kley. We first stopped briefly at El Tule to see the world’s widest tree. The tree is certainly impressive and worth admiring in person. Kley expertly navigated the extreme conditions to get up the mountain to Hierve de Agua, in the comfortable, new car. This tour requires a good deal of driving and the views of the mountains are gorgeous. The drive is not for the faint of heart or digestion as it can be bumpy, with hairpin turns. Once at Hierve de Agua, Kley paid for our entrance tickets and showed us the entrance and where to head. There was no information given on the site or what to do. We did not feel up to walking down and then back up the trail to see the “falls” from the bottom, nor did we even know where that path to the bottom was, however we walked around the pools area on top and admired the view. There were many tourists at the site, which detracted a bit from the nature. We were happy to find food vendors selling whole young coconuts; it’s the most refreshing drink. We requested not to stop at any of the Mezcal places, which is why it is nice to choose a private tour so it can me customized. We were also able to later ask our driver to make a stop for fruit along the way since we decided not to stop for lunch. The next stop was Mitla to see the pre-Hispanic ruins. There are not many descriptive plaques at the site and without a guide to explain the history and significance of the site, I did not feel that I got enough out of the visit. If you go to Mitla I would recommend getting a guide. We then went to the weavers area of Oaxaca where we visited a workshop complete with demonstration of which natural materials are used to create the colourful dyes for the rugs, how the wool is sorted, carded and spun on the spinning wheel, and how the rugs are created on the looms. Both my 14 year old son and I both found it fascinating and we were happy to purchase small rugs directly from the artisan.
Nacho (native to Oaxaca) was our driver who was exceptionally knowledgeable, friendly, and a safe driver, and his English is on point. The car was quite clean and new and there was air conditioning. We had a great day on this tour and got to enjoy our site seeing on our own time. We learned a lot about the area. Highly recommend and thank you Nacho:)
Our driver Miguel was fantastic! Excellent driver, saw what we wanted to see and connected us with nice people at the sites we visited. We booked a private tour for three - money well spent. Comfortable, air-conditioned, new van. Highly recommended.
We had a great day with Ignacio! He was punctual and friendly and accommodating. When he discovered that we had already been to one of the planned attractions, he thought of a substitute activity which was incredible! I appreciated how he brought us to each attraction and made sure we knew where to go but then let us explore on our own.
We were expecting our guide to speak proficient English but he spoke and understood little. Also, he was more of a driver than a guide, he did not have much to offer on history, cultural descriptions etc. He was very nice and took us to a fantasy textile and mezcal place so our day was ‘saved’.
Edelmira was a spectacular guide. He has a lot of knowledge about our Zapotec culture. He explained everything in a simple way and with great enthusiasm. It is very friendly and friendly too. We really enjoyed it. Thanks also to our driver, friendly, friendly and took us safely everywhere. The buffet to eat delicious and with typical Oaxaca food.
Good tour. Only the food is not the best. The guides very friendly and friendly. The units clean and in good condition. Textile prices are high. They are no better prices than what you find in the city.
Beautiful to contemplate nature you can do some hiking , there are guides that with a tip take you to explore a little more, you have to have condition 😁 . PS, if you want to go swimming, you have to wear clothes suitable for bathing.
We were a group of 8 friends we felt very safe and protected, I loved it, super friendly, attentive and punctual. Always on the lookout for all of us
Muy buena decision haber adquirido el tour privado ya que permite mayor y mejor comunicacion ademas de tener tiempo libre en hierve el agua
Amazing experience!! Thank you very much to Ede for his way of explaining and guiding us, thank you also to Alberto Ticot for driving in a proper way. Highly recommended
Must-see tour in Oaxaca, it's very worth it. Our guide Edgar Santiago explained every detail and adapted to our pace. The guide, places visited and excellent transport
Boil the water a place where you can see the wonders that God does, a whole journey I thought I would not get down and up but what my eyes saw is worth it, the delicious mezcal, they titulate from the valley a whole art the divine mats and teach you the process of making, the tulle tree another wonder of God.Mount Albal beautiful, and finally Mitla beautiful, the center, Santo Domingo, the cathedral not good I fell in love with Oaxaca.. Highly recommended Oaxaca, just carry a lot of money, why else you will not want to bring many things. I have to confess that I had only one lousy experience in Oaxaca in Santa Domingo, with an elderly lady of those who are at the door and feel they own the church, disrespected me to my 10-year-old son and ran from the church, and not only did it with me as with another young man who came in.
They were very punctual, with a friendly guide, who proved good chauffeur, at a reasonable cost. And the wonderful places
Nacho went for us at the door of our Airbnb, took us to the most beautiful and hidden places of boiling water, to the artisan carpet shop of a local family of Teotitlan del Valle and to Don Agave (local supermarket of Oaxaca) where we were given to try more than 10 types of mezcal. Besides, he took very good pictures.
