November 5, 2026- What an incredible day. From the moment we were picked up at Dreams Resort to being dropped off afterward, everything was fantastic. Our captain, Lorenzo, was absolutely amazing! He was so friendly, knowledgeable, and really made the day special. We spent the day exploring the beautiful bays, snorkeling, swimming, and stopped for a delicious lunch at an amazing restaurant right on the beach. The scenery was beautiful, but what really made the experience was the wonderful people and how well we were taken care of. We honestly couldn’t have asked for a better day. I would highly recommend this company to anyone visiting Huatulco. And if you get the chance, ask for Lorenzo. You won’t be disappointed!

We had a fantastic time with Rojeleo exploring the bays! We kicked off chasing dolphins and came across the biggest pod I've ever seen. He provided helpful suggestions on where to snorkel. We had a nice little (surprisingly tasty for how touristy) lunch on the beach. It was everything we wanted and more. After we had already been out 5 hours, he offered to take us to another beach and we tapped out. He made us feel completely unrushed. The only slight downsides were that prices of the snorkel rentals and lunch were a bit inflated. So bring your own/be prepared of that's a concern. Totally worth the price of admission.
Highly recommend the private boat. The captain tailored the tour to what my family wanted—some bays along with swimming/snorkeling/seeing dolphins
We had a fantastic trip! Jellyfish were around in several of the bays so couldn’t snorkel as much as planned but luckily Playa Entrega was jellyfish free and it was great there. Amazingly we started seeing by seeing humpback whales, then a sea turtle and then dolphins. We were really lucky with the ocean life and the water was so calm the day we went. Cold drinks on board were refreshing and the info our guide gave us about the area and ocean life was interesting.
They pick you up at the hotel and take you right to the marina. Beer, water and soft drinks included. Our guide was great, vey knowledgeable.
Gelio was top notch! Best tour guide and captain. He took us to many areas to swim and snorkel, as well as see the wondrous beaches.
Perfect all around. The pick up by taxi was on time. The boat, Miranda 3, was very clean and perfect. Our guide, Rojelio, was great and gave just the right amount of info and right amount of quiet time for us to just enjoy the scenery and ride. The food where we got lunch was no one's favorite, but the beach cat keeping my lap warm made up for it. And we had time at the end for a special view. Would book with them again for sure.
Great Boat trip, directly from the port in Santa Cruz. Saw 5 bays, snorkled, fished and swam. Erick our captain was wonderful.
We fished, snorkeled and looked for sea creatures with Captain Daniel. It was a wonderful day. The pickups were prompt and Alberto is a wealth of information about the area and México in general. Strongly recommend this adventure.
Great tour! Our captain Daniel was a lot of fun and very patient! He took us to some great snorkeling spots and a fantastic lunch place! Very well organized!
Private tour, excellent captain. Daniel so calm, very knowledgeable. Avoid crowds and the best they pick you up and return to your resort
From Hotel pick up through to the end, we were well taken care of. Got to see turtles, dolphins, bait balls from the boat. Walked along beautiful beaches. Snorkled beautiful spots with cool creatures. Pack your ocean safe sunscreen and enjoy exploring the bays!
Need to be able to get into and out of the boat. Bring or rent equipment. Adolpho was great! Very kind, helpful, courteous. Not rushed at all. Best snorkeling excursion of any cruise!
Today was truly amazing! Lepo was a wonderful guy! He told us about the different Bahías, took us snorkeling in two different spots, helped me reel in a fish, kept the drinks flowing, and took us far enough out to spot a marlin, sea turtles, and dolphins. The lunch spot was delicious too! Our family really enjoyed our day on the water.
Our guide was amazing!! He was very friendly, spoke excellent English, and accommodating. The places he recommended were just perfect for our trip.
Great tour! If you’re considering booking a tour of Huatulco’s many beautiful bays, consider a private tour and this one in particular. The organizer Alberto communicated well about details, picked us up on time at our hotel as planned and gave us a ton of great information about the area ecology/environment and sustainability work. We learned more than we expected before even getting in the boat which helped us appreciate the day even more. Our captain Lipo (not sure about spelling!) and his mate took good care of us onboard. The boat was clean, comfortable and stocked with water, sodas and beer. We were able to craft the day as we wanted, including a little fishing, snorkeling and swimming. We saw whales, a turtle and lots of fish. The bays are beautiful - especially the nearly deserted one in the national park. Lunch on the beach was very good, although bit pricey but that’s not their control - the spot with many restaurant choices is a touristy one. As we watched other boats jam-packed with people we were so happy to have one to ourselves. You won’t be disappointed if you book this tour! Well worth the $.
Great way to see the different beaches, friendly guides, flexibility to do what you want and go where you want. Caught fish on the way out and we ate them for lunch at the beach place at Maguey. Really wonderful day
Great excursion. Very personal the tour guide knew the area very well and gave us plenty of time at every stop to enjoy each bay. Also seeing the whales so close was amazing!
Alberto was our driver and did a great job explaining the history and ecology of the Huatulco area. His biology degree made it very informative. Adolfo was our Captain and did a great job. His English was ok and the boat was small and old but he more than made up for it in his willingness to help. Case in point, our daughter dropped her mask in about 30’ of water. After multiple attempts by Adolfo to retrieve it, he signaled a nearby boat of scuba divers who were entering the water and got them to retrieve it for her. He definitely went above and beyond. Make sure you bring Mexican Pesos with you if you go to any of the restaurants for lunch. It is much easier than trying to negotiate the exchange rate with the waiter.
Homie tours were great. Super friendly guide, experienced boat driver, spoke some english. I would say best snorkeling was in La Entrega, saw turtles and puffer fish. Water is not clear in most of the bays and its a bit of a rough swim near shore as they all have a strong current. Good outing but I would definitely do a 4 hour tour versus the 7 hour.
We had a private tour of the bays. The entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. Alberto picked us up at the resort and gave a history of the Huatulco area and even stopped to allow us to take pictures before heading to the marina. I don't remember our captain's name but he was excellent. We stopped to snorkel at two of the bays. We also had lunch at one of them. They asked us what we would like to do and see. They were flexible with the itinerary. We say dolphins and whales- spectacular trip!
Alberto was extremely attentive in replying to our queries for our day trip of Huatulco Bays. He picked the six of us up in a new and comfortable passenger van and as he drove us to the marina gave us the full educational guide of the area with his extensive knowledge of the area. Lepo our skipper and Jonathan his hand were delightful and made us feel safe and secure while dropping anchor in the many Bays of Huatulco. This was recommended to us and we now recommend using them for your day trip! Thank you Alberto!
Wow, what an experience! We did two tours— the Archaeological Site and the 7 Bays tour—and both were absolutely amazing. Alberto is super knowledgeable about everything—history, culture, biology—you name it! On the 7 Bays tour, we saw whales, dolphins, and turtles! Plus, Adolfo took us to the best snorkeling spots where we got to swim with incredible marine life. Everything was so well-organized, and we had the best time. Can't recommend this tour company enough! You won’t regret it!
From beginning to end this was a fantastic trip. Alberto picked us up, on time, from our hotel (3 couples) and gave us a lot of information about the Huatulco area, biodiversity, plant and animal life, on the way to the marina. He was extremely knowledgeable! At the marina we rented snorkeling equipment (250 pesos/person) and were introduced to our crew, Lepo and his sidekick Johnny. The boat was small but comfortable, with water, beer and pop on board (no snacks, we brought our own). The bays are beautiful, we stopped at one and Johnny came in and snorkeled with us for an hour. We stopped for lunch at another bay, huge portions and the bill came to 3500 pesos for 8 of us. Lepo found whales, tortoises and schools of fish, he even stopped to fish for a few minutes. All in all we were thrilled with our trip and have recommended it to several people at the hotel, great day!
This is a small boat with no bathroom or food but it was comfortable. A great ladder to get in and out of the water. Aldolpho and Jonny were nice and great at spotting marine life. We loved the flexibility of doing what we want. Saw turtles (including mating), humpbacks, dolphins and a huge school of rays (spotted eagle?) Jumping and slapping!
Horacio was our captain for the day. He did a great job avoiding the crowds as we explored the bays and snorkeling areas around Huatulco.
Had a great time showing friend the beauty of the bays and beaches of Huatulco. Adilfo was an awesome captain. We also came across 3 migrating humpback whales, turtles and dolphin. Great day!!
Had a great time showing my out of town friends the beauty of Huatulco, its bays and beaches. It was a private tour so we went at our pace and were able to swim and enjoy the beautiful day. Thanks to our captain Armando.
Highly recommended we avoided the crowds our skipper Adolph was fantastic as was the manager Roberto . Clear communication and were able to have the beach swimming for ourselves before others arrived . Splash out it’s worth the price for sure
We had a fabulous day on the water. We did a bit of snorkeling- lots of swimming. It would have been nice to see a bit more sea life but I suppose that depends on what is happening in the ocean at the time.
Alberto squired us to the marina imparting local history, wildlife and ecological information. Very enjoyable mini tour. The gentlemen who received us at the marina did not speak & was not assistive walking ahead of us to boat. Oratio our boat captain provided a fun informative tour of the bays. We felt safe in his capable hands. Oratio checked in frequently ensuring we received the personal experience a private tour offers. Took us to great snorkel sites, providing time to take in bays highlights. The same gentlemen who received us at the marina silently walking ahead of us as we carried our gear to a street taxi. The taxi was non air condition (34 C) took us back to the resort. The transportation to the marina and the boat tour met the expectation of a private $450.00 cdn four hour boat tour. The non assistive non speaking escort to and from boat and a non air conditioned public cab (approx $6.00 cdn value) does not meet with our expectations of the money paid nor the Viator company.
Half the tour was being left on a beach to buy an overpriced lunch from captains friend When we were ready to go, he had left. Finally came back 45 minutes later. Not recommended.
Did the 7 bays tour. You snorkel at one spot for what was supposed to be and hour and a half but after about 40 minutes I found it dragging on as there was the same fish at the resort we were at. The rest of the tour was really good as the captain tried to find aquatic animals to see on route. He more than succeeded as we encountered dolphins first. We then spotted sea turtles which we got up and close to but not to close and got some great pictures. We then got radiod there was whales spotted so we headed in that direction. We got the pleasure of seeing a humpback and her baby and we stayed back a good distance but close enough to see them and got the famous tail flip coming out of the water. After seeing the whales we spotted a stingray that had actually jumped in the air and back into the ocean. Never got a picture as you would of had to have the camera going already to catch it. Was quite the site to see though. Lots of smaller black tunas breaking the surface as well. Went for a shore lunch. Was on the expensive side but overall worth it just for the experience. The guide we had was pretty funny and very knowledgeable. Was fun to be on the boat with. Lots of beer or other drinks if you wanted any. Overall great trip and they try very hard to find things to show you. This trip they managed to do just that.
Absolutely can't say enough about how wonderful a PRIVATE tour is! Merlin took us to quiet bays for snorkeling, and Mauro was a fantastic guide. Pointing out landmarks and wildlife. Mauro snorkeled with us, guiding us to the best spots to see the diverse marine life! We had a delicious lunch at a open air restaurant. The fish tacos were delicious, as were the tortillas and salsa! The price was reasonable. Vendors did come around to the table, but they weren't pushy. One of our friends did buy some souvenirs and was very happy when we got back to town. It pays to buy directly from the artist! Don't be concerned about not booking with the cruise line. The experience was fantastic!
The excursion was fantastic. Robert and team were just great. We saw turtles and dolphins. Beautiful beaches and great snorkeling. Food at lunch was very good. Great value and a lot of fun.
Alberto and Ysidro were great. Alberto picked us up, brought us to the marina and dropped us off in the late afternoon. Alberto is a fount of knowledge and enthusiasm about Huatulco and the region. Ask him about archaeological sites. Ysidro was our captain. Rougher than usual seas (swells) were no obstacle. Saw a whale shark and dolphins. India Bay as advertised. Great day and good feelings all around.
We loved seeing the beautiful area and coatis running around on shore. The snorkeling was nice. The lunch beach was great. All would have been more pleasant on a calmer day. The water was rough and one in our party got really seasick.
The driver that took us to the boat was great. However when we got there we had major issues……the snorkeling equipment was supposed to be included in our price….it was not! Then, there were no beer on the boat as promised when we booked. The boat was very small! They did get the beer after we got off the boat and said we weren’t going! The tour had no music on board as promised. The guide(only I person on board, limited English)…….was very nice but did not say much. I think we expected more explanation of the area.
We LOVED our boat tour with HomieTours! We were in Huatulco for a bachelorette party and this was the highlight of our trip. They picked us up at our house and were knowledgeable and kind. We learned so much about Huatulco just on our drive over to the port. The boat was a perfect size for 5 of us and our captain made the rough ocean water feel so much smoother with his amazing driving skills. He even guided our snorkeling, bringing us to a spot where we saw a turtle and a wide variety of other fish. There was plenty of water and beer on board and they let us bring our own lunch. I can’t wait to return and use HomieTours services again.
This was an amazing day in the water. Alberto met us at the hotel, told us a lot of interesting facts. The boat was very comfortable and good looking. The two guide guys were very nice and knowledgeable of the area. They gave us an opportunity to see different bays. We stopped for a long dive. (Snorkels, vests and flippers were included). So many different fish!!! I mean a lot!!! Then we ask if could see dolphins. They contacted someone on the radio and learned where exactly dolphins were. Hundred of them jumping and playing near our boat. Unfortunately, we did not take a camera or money. So no picture and we did not stop for lunch. The boat had cold beer and water. The great trip. Highly recommend!
This tour was perfect from start to finish. We were picked up at our Villa by Hugo who spoke great English and was helpful and fun. He drove us to the Port in Santa Cruz. We paid a very small fee to enter the port $1 US. We set off in the boat. The Captain was awesome and very flexible about where we wanted to go snorkelling and for how long. He took us to many locations and showed us all the cool spots. We were snorkelling and saw a huge giant manta ray swim by. We also saw numerous Humpback whales a different spots along the way. The boat had a cooler with beer, soda and water bottles. We stopped at Maguey Beach for lunch and it was perfect. Would highly recommend this tour to a large family or a group. We were 4 ladies and it was wonderful.
Great tour by boat to the National Park with Homietours! Very friendly guide, we saw tons of sealife (turtles, jumping rays, bright fish on the reef, even a whale). Flexible itinerary if you prefer beaches or snorkeling, and the lunch stop is optional. Such a beautiful place and very fun to see it from a privately chartered boat. 100% worth it.
How the tour worked * We were picked up in Huatulco and brought to the pier. Here we met our guide for the day. * We got snorkels and fins at a rental shop (covered) and paid for our park fee (not covered) and were off. * On the boat, we met our second guide, who would swim with us at each stop. * We got the names of the beaches we passed, which was nice for orienting ourselves (not much history or any background though.) * We made about 4 snorkeling stops. The most amazing one by far was India Bay. This one was beautiful and glorious. So many fish. And the coral was beautiful. * Our guide had an icebox of drinks which was nice. + The snorkeling at India Bay was the highlight. There was a second stop we went to with so many colorful fish as well. Our snorkeling guide was great at guiding us to good spots to snorkel and a bunch of times would show us pufferfish, starfish, and shells which was amazing! They were also really good at finding spots where the water was clearer/is better for snorkeling. + We were never rushed, which was really nice :) - After reading the other raving reviews where people described seeing pods of dolphins, manta rays, humpbacks, turtles, it felt like a little bit of a let down to see none of those beautiful animals. And sadly San Augustin Bay wasn't very impressive, it was very murky that day. This isn't exactly Homietours's fault, but we had really high expectations after reading the other reviews. I know that's how nature works, and nothing can ever be promised, but it was a part of the reason why we decided to pay for this experience rather than some of the cheaper group tours. I think if we were to do it again, we would probably go on a different tour that was cheaper, since the reasons why we had chosen Homietours didn't turn out to be something that distinguished Homietours from other tours.
Went on a private snorkeling tour and ended up doing a whale tour also. Our guide was great, he took us around the bay first and then on his radio he was told about possible whale sighing, we took off after it and sure enough there was a whale and it's baby swimming in the bay. After that he took us snorkeling and we had a great time.
We just spent the day with Homietours on a fantastic tour of the bays and a few snorkeling spots. It was our first snorkeling experience in the Pacific and it was gorgeous. The guides were wonderful and one of them snorkeled with us to show us the best spots. He pointed out schools of fish, dove down to fetch sea life so we could se up close a puffer fish, starfish, snails inside of shells. From the boat we also saw mating turtles, dolphins, and more turtles. They kept the boat very dry and clean, even after we came back in from the water. I highly recommend these guys!
We did a cruise that called in Huatulco, and this tour was perfect for our day there. They were able to meet us right at the cruise ship pier, get us fitted with snorkel gear (tour includes gear for 2 but we rented more sets for $15 each), and walk us to our boat. The boat had individual seats for each person and plenty of beer and soda to go around! The bays were beautiful and we were able to see so much. We visited two different snorkel spots and were able to see all sorts of beautiful things, even turtles and rays. As we were cruising along the coast, we spotted a large group of dolphins and were able to detour and cruise along with them for a while as they swam right next to the boat. After this, we were hungry, so we were taken to a beach restaurant with a huge selection of seafood and other things. We were also able to see all the bays and stop at whichever beaches we wanted. Even though the tour says it's 4 hours, we never felt rushed and were able to decide what we wanted to do and spend as much time at each location as we wanted. They didn't bring us back to the ship until we were ready. One thing to note is that our two guides did not speak great English, but it was sufficient for the tour and we were able to get by and would recommend this tour despite the slight language barrier. We had an absolute blast and feel like this was a fantastic value for 6 people!
Where do I start? The minute my husband and I were picked up at resort, biologist Alberto taught the ecological vision for this area pointing out aspects of engineering along the drive to Sta Cruz. In a brief time, we felt we learned much about the Oaxacan coast. We met Capt Insidro at Sta Cruz—we always felt safe even amidst some of the tougher waves and currents along the path to explore multiple bays and beaches. From the historical Playa La Entrega to the legend Playa India, we discovered such beautiful secluded areas—we stopped at 3 bays to snorkel—magnificent! I felt Isidro added more to this exploration than expected—delightful. We witnessed the beauty of sea animals traversing their glorious waters—sea turtles, manta rays, dolphins and (wow!) a graceful whale swimming close by. Isidro picked three beautiful snorkeling sites—glorious. We had lunch —baked chula (tuna) on Playa Maguey with a couple of cokes. Alberto and Isidro from Homietours did an excellent job allowing us safe exploration and discovery and teaching us along the way. So grateful for this adventure.
Private City Tour and 7 Bays Tour In researching things to do in Huatulco, we came across a private tour company with glowing reviews which sounded like it was going to be ideal for us. The name of the company is Best Huatulco Tours. We booked two tours with them. The first was a private City Tour. Alfonso picked us up from the resort and dropped us off afterwards. He spent all the time we needed at each point of interest and was very knowledgeable and we felt completely at ease with him. He pointed out the banana and papaya farm that supplies these to the resorts in the area. I mentioned I loved papaya, so he parked the car and took us for a walk so we could see the papaya trees and fruit up close. We experienced mescal tasting and he gave us plenty of opportunities to shop for souvenirs. You have to experience the magnetic hill. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The following day we took the private 7 bay tour. This was truly a full day, he picked us up at 9am and dropped us back at the resort at 4:30pm. However, the schedule was completely flexible and we never ever felt like we were rushed. He took us all along the coastline and into the numerous bays. So beautiful. He took us to a secluded bay and we snorkeled for as long as we wanted to. We were not disappointed by the number and variety of fish we saw. We had lunch in a different bay, it was the best lunch we have had so far. The tables were right on the beach with ample shade. Alfonso left us to enjoy lunch and the scenery. I had the largest, freshest lobster I’ve ever tasted cooked in butter and served with pineapple and sliced avocado. My husband had the shrimp cooked 4 different ways, served with a side salad and pineapple. Very relaxing and again never felt like we had to hurry up. A breeze on the way back to the marina made for an exciting time with large swells. We couldn’t have asked for a more attentive host. We are very appreciative for the time Alfonso took to ensure we had a fantastic day on the ocean.
Our resort booked us through xp travel and we spent a theraputic day on La Meta with Edgar sharing knoeledge of the 7 bays and the history of Hualtuco. The pods of dolphins were countless, Manta ray leaping from the water everywhere. The occassional humpback breeched the surface and various sea turtles were floating on the surface every 50 to 100 yards.Tthe snorkling in San Agustin Bay was awesome, Living coral, eel, endless fish in a relatively sheltered area making the swimming easier for the pacific. The fishig wasn't great, but we really didn"t try, however a 6' -8' sword fish lept out of the water 20' off our starboard just after we reeled in. .Lunch at the restaurant was a little pricey but delicious. As it is a private tour, we chose to spend the remainder of time cruising the open water searching for the next photo op. The water was calm, the sky was cloudless, the crew was flawless and the Corona was always cold, Gracias Amigos
Very friendly service. He gave us very good recommendations and we could play our music. There was free beer and water on the boat. The captain was very Pro and friendly. We had so much fun!!
