We had a great time with our driver, he gave us plenty of tips. The tour was long but filled with super cool stuff. Best of all was the textile experience, best art we have seen, these people were amazing! Highly recommended!

We will know the thickest tree in the world!
We will know how this great Zapotec town has preserved the ancient way of dyeing textiles, it will surprise you how from the peels of fruits, flowers, leaves, and insects it obtains bright and lasting colors, such as that of the cochineal grana that gave the state so much wealth .
We will taste a good agave and mezcal distillate, but first we will know how it is made. And our tasting will be unforgettable as well as walking through the maguey fields.
You will get to know the unique attraction of Oaxaca, the petrified waterfalls that have been formed by the amount of calcium carbonate and other minerals that the water contains. It is said that there are only two in the world, in Oaxaca and in Turkey.

Antonio was a wonderful guide, patient, attentive and kind. He covered for Spanish and English speakers but was easy to follow. We thought the itinerary would be a grueling long day, but Antonio managed to keep a relaxed pace and it was all so enjoyable.
This trip was great. There was enough time at each location to take pictures and enjoy the view and take in the information about each place. The driver was great and very friendly, he had a great Playlist too and I felt safe and enjoyed the drive. Just something small to note is that they went to a different Mezcal place (Rey de Matatlan) but the English guide at that place was great and took his time to answer all of our questions. Also, if you decide to go for a different pick up you might have to wait for a bit as they make their way to picking up everyone. For water boils (hierve el agua), just make sure to wear shoes with enough traction as it can be very slippery even in dry areas! If you are not in good physical condition, I'd suggest you do the smaller hike instead of going all the way down/ up, it's quite a challenging hike if you're not used to lots of stairs and uneven ground. Overall I'd recommend this tour!
The wild agave boutique distillery really Opened my eyes (and nose and taste) to the nuance of quality mezcal. We bought 2 limited wild bottles and have been enjoying them for tastings very slowly!
My friend and I just completed 6 consecutive days of tours with Mexplorer this past weekend. We were blessed to have Balam, Daniel, and Alfredo as our tour guides for this trip. Our guides made sure we understood and experienced the greatness that Oaxaca has to offer. I was able to eat amazing food, have spectacular views from the Sierras, and learn about the history of the Zapotec way of life. We visited museums, archeological sites, and learned the craft that many people still to this day practice from their ancestors. I am glad we get the opportunity to experience these traditional methods still being used.
A varied, informative and full day culminating at the amazing unique Hierve el Aqua waterfalls complex. Take your swimsuits.
The tour was well organized. The time is hierve del agua was maybe too short (1.5 h), but enough to do the 'long' path and see both the waterfalls. Mitla was a bit rushed, and our guide didn't do a great job of explaining well its history (it was a bit rushed). Mezcal and textile factories were interesting, but of course it's an excuse to sell you expensive products. We enjoyed those visits anyways. Tula was a bit rushed (15 minutes only). Overall it was a good day where we could see most of the valley around Oaxaca. The reason for the 3 stars is that I found the tour overpriced, compared to what was offered in the streets of Oaxaca. We paid 67 euros (buffet lunch included, entrances of things included), in the main touristic areas this same tour is offered for 300 pesos (around 15 euros), lunch and entrances excluded. Even adding the price of lunch (150 pesos) and entrances to attractions (in total less than 200 pesos probably), we still paid double than the price other people in the same tour paid. Advice: book directly in Oaxaca center, in the main pedestrian street.
What a great way to spend a day in Oaxaca. I learned so much about this unique area of Mexico and the many native peoples here. We visited Hierve El Aqua, a traditional weaving business, a mezcaleria, El Tule, a traditional Oaxacan buffet for lunch, and the the Mitla ruins. Great way to add some history and culture to a trip and support local communities.
We thought this would be an in-depth mezcal experience and were surprised when the mezcaleria portion was only a small part. Still, it was an enriching and education experience. We visited many places (Hierve del agua, zapotec ruins, El Tule tree, etc). The tour guides were fantastic.
It was absolutely phenomenal! The tour exceeded my expectations. The sightseeing was just breathtaking and the whole experience very pleasant. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable and very organized. I highly highly recommend this tour.
Would highly recommend this tour for those who are visiting Oaxaca de Juárez for a short period of time and want to pack a lot of sights into one day! Excellent guide, really interesting blend of demonstrations and explanations at each stop. Definitely gives you a deeper peek into Oaxaca’s beautiful culture, traditions, and history!
Mitla was a very interesting Mesoamerican site to visit. The Mezcal tour @ El Rey De Matatlan was a fun experience.
We had a great time. Bus was comfortable and clean, guide was fantastic, we went to there mezcaleras and the guide coordinated it so that we'd see the three stages of production. They take covid seriously and work around your interests. Would highly recommend this company.
Great tour offered. Balam, the guide is highly knowledgeable. Saw ancient Mayan sites, artifacts and ruins. Food on the tour was excellent; overall experience on Oaxaca tour was exceptional.
Balam and Paty were with us on our tour. I will definitely ask for them again. We opted for a private tour with the extra cost. Vehicle was comfortable and clean. They took extra precautions with the current situation both in vehicle and every place we went. Felt very safe. Showed up on time and they were very professional. Gave lots of facts about everywhere we went. Looking forward to the next tour.
We signed up for this tour at our hotel. Can't recommend this excursion highly enough, it exceeded our expectations. The guide was fluent in English and Spanish, knowledgeable in history, archeology, linguistics of the area. He was interesting, personable and courteous. He never forgot to explain everything in both languages although there was only one Spanish only speaker in our group. The guides name was Balan I think and the driver was Daniel. Both were kind and attentive. Balan took the time to research and give travel info to two young non Spanish speaking women who wanted to travel on to the coast. You won't regret taking this tour.
Amazing tour and very well organised! We had only two days to spend in Oaxaca city and by this tour we had the opportunity to see different places. These places are highly recommended to visit thus, to experience the authentic culture. Our guide was really helpful and he gave us many interesting information! We also experienced the authentic food and music! Our group was small and the travel was comfortable!
We did the tour” Ruta hierve el agua” that we arranged from our hotel. Highly recommend Mexplorer tour company! Certified guide and driver are very knowledgeable of Oaxaca and surrounding areas. Fun way to learn more about local artisans and their crafts. Lunch was amazing!! Well worth every penny!!
A great itinerary that allows you to learn first-hand about the culture and traditions of Oaxaca. In a small group the guides explained to us everything we needed to know.
Dani, punctual and friendly driver-guide. We made two excursions, we wanted to make some more, apart from the excursions we have met great people. Angel Avila, Noe...
Great tour and Ede guide is the ultimate! Widely recommended! The flexibility, adaptability, your concern for us and your suggestions made it an unforgettable experience. She's a great ambassador for Oaxaca.
El tour por viator es excesivamente caro!! Es un abuso!! Este mismo tour lo venden en la calle por 200 pesos mexicanos y en los hoteles hasta en 400 pesos…
We took 3 tours with the mexplorer agency, thanks to balam and dany for the tours, very good Service and experience in what they do, we felt very safe all the time, before, during and until the end of the tours, we took the first tour to Monte Alban, second to Sierra Jarez and Third party to Mitla, all the time the health measures were followed.
Super recommended! We had a lot of fun and also everything very safe and the guide and driver very friendly! We will definitely be back with them!
Despite being in times of pandemic, we enjoyed every place a lot, we took a lot of pictures, they were very patient with time in each place, all the people were very friendly, we laughed a lot, we learned about history, culture and gastronomy, the guide explained everything in a very clear way and gave us a lot of information. Highly recommended
Totalmete recommended, the guides were very friendly and had excellent explanations. besides that the transports were very clean and new
Beautiful places, excellent Service and excellent organization. All the information is relevant but not boring, I highly recommend it
At first we wanted this tour but the Mexplorer staff recommended another tour because some places were closed due to the pandemic, and we were very satisfied, very professional, the transport unit very clean and the Balam guide very friendly and with a lot of experience, knows perfectly the places and their history. 100% recommended
A nice tour with excellent hosts who explained the process for the elaboration of Mezcal.
