Such a neat experience! Robert was so knowledgeable about the history of chocolate and that made it that much more rewarding and interesting. Toasted and peeled cacao beans all the way to making hot chocolate. Delicious!!

Itinerary
During this activity, participants will know the cocoa beans, learning to identify them and understanding their origin, characteristics and the importance they have in the manufacture of traditional chocolate. The guide will explain how the quality of the grain directly influences the flavor and aroma of the final chocolate. Subsequently, attendees will participate in the roasting of the cocoa beans and their cleaning, learning in a practical way each of these processes and understanding how these stages develop the characteristic flavors of cocoa. Finally, the participants will mold the chocolate, place it in bars and pack it in their own boxes, taking a bar of Oaxacan chocolate made by themselves as a closing of the experience.

We did this as a family with our 8-year-old son, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. Everything about it worked — the hands-on chocolate-making process, the tasting, the setting — but what really made it special was our instructor, Edgar. Edgar was genuinely warm and full of energy the entire time, and he had a wonderful way with kids. Rather than just letting our son tag along, he gave him real ownership over parts of the process, which made him so proud and engaged. Edgar also taught us a few words in Xapotet along the way, which added a lovely layer of cultural connection to the experience. Highly recommended!
This was such a fun a neat experience. I really enjoyed learning about real chocolate and getting to make it. Edgar was very friendly and good to work with. I would recommend this experience when visiting Oaxaca.
Hice la clase de chocolate con Pablo! Aprendí y me divertí mucho (y ahora tengo chocolate sabroso). Pablo tuvo mucha paciencia con mi español (quería practicar) y explicó cosas de maneras alternativas y en inglés cuando necesario. Lo recomiendo! I did the chocolate class with Pablo! I learned a lot and had tons of fun (and now have delicious chocolate. Pablo had lots of patience with my Spanish (I wanted to practice) and he explained things in multiple ways and in English as needed. I recommend it!
This was such a great experience. Our instructors were so nice and explained everything. They had wonderful visual aids to explain the history. Then we actually got to make chocolate from scratch, starting with the cacao beans! We made hot chocolate and little chocolate skulls, which we got to take home. It was so much fun and a highlight of the trip. Definitely recommend!
Great experience! We made chocolate ourselves and got many good explanations on the subject of ‘chocolate’. The guide knew a lot about it and was totally committed.
Excellent experience, the teacher was very friendly and presented the information and instructions in an easy to understand way. Thank you!
