Had an amazing day with Coyote Adventures! Carlos took me mountain biking in Ixtepeji—a stunning forest with epic trails. He quickly matched the ride to my level and gave great tips. Arturo, our driver, was super friendly. We even picked wild mushrooms and had a delicious mountain lunch. Highly recommended!

Our family of 3 (husband 51, myself 45 and daughter 13) had a pretty amazing mountain biking experience with our guide Victor. Although the 3 of us are not novice mountain bikers we certainly got challenged with this ride, even with electric bikes! A few falls, bumps and bruises, it was still worth the adventure. We had a delish picnic of sourdough bread, PB, jelly, beans, avocado, queso, grasshoppers and coffee. We also walked over 2 extension bridges and up a mountain to an overlook. Both Victor and our driver Jorge were hospitable, made us feel safe and helped us create memories of a lifetime.

We are avid mountain bikers from Colorado and wanted to do a mountain bike tour in the Ixtepeji area of Oaxaca to celebrate my wife’s 50thbirthday. We contacted Carlos Coyote in early September and he created a detailed private biking itinerary for us involving 2 nights/3 days of riding in the Sierra Norte with some cultural tours added in, and we paid in full for the trip, over $1600 USD. We started to get concerned when we sent a follow-up message at the beginning of November (after the holiday) and did not get a response. We simply wanted to confirm our trip and ask if we should bring spd pedals, etc. Finally, after many unanswered messages, some other employee replied to our Whatsapp messages with a one-line response confirming that everything was set for our upcoming bike trip. Putting our concerns aside, we were looking forward to the trip, packed all of our bike gear (minus bikes) and made our way to Oaxaca. Last night, 3 days before our mountain bike tour was set to begin, we received a message from Carlos saying that he no longer can do the trip due to “scheduling issues”. After we clearly expressed our frustration, his excuse soon morphed into “your guide has a medical issue”. He then suggested changing the trip to 2 days of hiking, 1 day of mountain biking. Clearly this was not what we wanted to do, so we demanded a refund, which we finally received, but then we were left in the city with all of our bike gear (thank goodness we hadn’t brought our bikes), no bike tour and had to scramble last-minute for lodging over a busy weekend. Not to mention this was supposed to be a celebratory event. My wife and I are both business owners, and you simply to do not let something like this happen. Even if there truly was an unfortunate emergency with the guide, you find someone to replace this person given that your customers have travelled quite far. We asked Carlos why he couldn’t step in to guide in this situation, and he simply said he just couldn’t because he had some family things to do. He expressed very little understanding or remorse. Meanwhile, yesterday evening my husband saw a Coyote Aventuras van parked downtown with tons of bikes on top--so clearly he had bigger fish to fry—and we suspect that the bikes he had promised us for the tour were not available, leading to the cancellation. Apparently this is a pattern with him—claiming he has bikes when he does not. Luckily another (real) mountain bike company in town was able to help us out and organize a 1-day mountain bike tour last-minute. We had considered booking with them in the first place and clearly should have done so. When we went to this shop this morning and started to explain our situation, even before we mentioned the company the owner said immediately, “oh you must have booked with Coyote Aventuras”. So clearly this is a pattern, and other bikers have also been left high and dry. Apparently he also has a tendency to claim that he has bikes available to rent, when in actuality he does not. I write this hoping it will spare other bikers the frustration we just experienced with this unethical company. Why he has all 5 star reviews is a great mystery. What a phony website! This guy should be out of business soon with this type of business ethos.

I had a blast biking with tio's tours crew. Good selection of trails and last one was very long and steep! They had all the necessary tools to fix small issues along the way which was great! I recommend riding with this guys

Unforgettable trip with friends, making new ones along the way. Some very challenging and rewarding biking, with some very talented riders, allowing me to learn some new skills. The respect for the land is so special, and I cannot thank the Coyote team enough for sharing this amazing place with us.

Coyote Adventures is the best way to do MTB in Oaxaca, he has an amazing and talented team that adapts to all levels. We have been doing this same trip for the last 10 years and Coyote is by far the best option. Combining his MTB skills with his passion for people and nature makes an amazing experience. Make sure to ride 204 along with his team… the best single trail I have ever done!

We had an excellent experience riding in Oaxaca with Carlos, Tarek and the rest of their team. The trails there are incredible. It’s amazing riding through so many different environments in one descent: from cloud forests with loamy PNW hero dirt, to techy desert trails with fun rock features. Some of the descents are up to 45min long! The guides were very knowledgeable and cared a lot about us having a great time. They were really helpful pointing out features, how to ride them, what to look out for, etc. They also tailored the trails well to the group. I also loved learning about the local community and Oaxacan culture as Carlos was very knowledgeable and passionate about this. We had a blast and will definitely be back to ride with our new friends at Coyote Adventuras!

This was a 10/10 trip and well worth the money. I came to Oaxaca having no idea that mountain biking was even an option and thankfully came across these guys (have an incredible reputation in town). Given my lack of preparedness, they went above and beyond in providing me everything I needed (protective gear, gloves, etc.). The trip started out by traveling about 45 min - 1 hr from town to a breakfast spot in the middle of nowhere in the mountains. It was a super authentic experience, we had hot chocolate and breakfast tacos to warm up and start the day. Next, we ascended up the mountain, to begin the biking. The trails were unreal, absolutely blew my expectations out of the water. There was so much variety and my guide did a great job of guiding me through any sketchy areas and pointing me towards the must-hit features to make sure I didn't miss anything. The whole process ran super tight, our driver was always at the bottom of each trail ready for us when we ended. The team provided snacks, electrolyte drinks, and water. Another great thing to note is that the guide totally picked up on my level of riding (intermediate) and rode to that level and chose our trails / lines based on that. I never felt super overwhelmed by some insane route that was way out of my league and on the other hand definitely never felt bored by something too easy. After a great day of biking, we had lunch at another super homey restaurant in the mountains. Honestly might have been the best meal I've had in Oaxaca thus far (like 3 courses) and like breakfast was just included in the initial cost. We then drove back to Oaxaca after a great meal and got back around 5 PM. I would recommend this to absolutely anyone and everyone that enjoys the outdoors. The value here is well worth the cost. Such a fun day in the mountains with a stellar crew. We couldn't agree more with the other reviews when we have nothing but good things to say about Coyote. They are all incredibly passionate about what they do and very knowledgable and respectful towards the culture, communities and environments they are living and guiding within. They showed us the wide range of diverse and ridiculously fun trails in Ixtepeji, and the stoke was high throughout the two days we rode with them. The dry, rocky trails were very different than our PNW riding, which took me a minute to get used to and the crew was super supportive and encouraging. Fresh mangos, ice cold energy drinks and delish trail mix provided between rides was clutch on the hot days. Carlos and the rest of the team had fantastic communication. We can't wait to bring more friends down to ride with Coyote! Food was excellent. Also, definitely sign up for the Street Art Bike Tour as well! I did this as well and it opened my eyes to the depth of the culture, history and current fight for civil rights in Oaxaca. There is an incredibly important truth about this region that these artists are sharing which Coyote's tour revealed This tour also introduced me to my favorite neighborhoods in the city. I would highly recommend this tour to ANYONE who visits this city and cares to have insight about the place they are visiting.

Nothing but good things to say about Coyote. They gave me and my buddies the trip of a lifetime. All the guides are personable, professional and were a pleasure to get to know. I would recommend Coyote Aventuras to anyone. Fernando, Carlos, and the rest of the team were great. Fernando was easy to communicate with before the excursion, and incredibly accommodating to our skill levels, as my partner and I are relatively new to MTB. The whole team was helpful and encouraging throughout the day. The trails were fun, the scenery amazing, and the food provided was authentic and delicious. I plan to do a trip with them again if I make it back to Oaxaca soon.

Oaxaca has been talked up by the mountain bike media lately as a world class trail destination and it lives up to the hype, there are some really incredible trails here. It's a shame that Coyote Aventuras hasn't been mentioned as much as some other local outfits, because they provide a truly excellent experience of the trails and the local culture. The guides were super friendly and knowledgeable and made this an experience to remember. It felt like I had made friends with some locals who were proud of what the area had to offer and wanted to share that with me.

I highly recommend Coyote Aventuras. I had the best experience and felt in connection with Mother Nature. It was the best from my trip to Mexico.

The mountain bike guides are skilled and knowledgeable, as well as friendly and supportive. I thoroughly enjoyed the full day on world class trails, and learned a lot about the local culture. The home cooked food served for breakfast and after the ride was delicious. The protective gear and bike provided was high quality. I really appreciate the videos too.

We would highly recommend this mountain biking tour. The trails are absolutely epic and gorgeous. The guides at Coyote Adventures are very skilled, helpful and make the whole experience very fun and laid back. They also cater to your skill level. I do not have a lot of experience and the guides were very patient with me and made me feel comfortable. We can not wait to come back!!!

I spent the day riding the Ixtepeji trails with Airy and Ramses and had an excellent experience. Airy took the lead and pointed out all the features while riding. He told me what to expect on the Hawaiian Wave and other technical sections. I´ll be back to ride with Coyote again.

Ridiing with Carlos was so fun. He knew so much about the history, people. and the area making the journey connected to the earth as well as a hooting and hollering time. His guides, vehicles, and timing were all on point and the food he bought from the bakery was delicious! Carlos is an amazing person to be around.

We had an amazing day with COYOTE Aventuras! I had originally booked a more intermediate day of mountain biking along with a guided walk in the forest, however Fernando (our guide) was very helpful and contacted me the day before our trip and was able to offer and suggest an experience which was more tailored to our ability and needs (we are both road bikers and had actually never mountain biked before!). I'm glad that he did this, as the mountain biking trail was great for beginners like us and we also ended up saving some money! We ended up doing the Bike, Art and Sunset Hike at Teotilan Valley - the added trip to this textile town was great and the food that we ate here was some of the best we have tried in Mexico. We will definitely book again with Coyote - thanks for a great day!!

Me an my buddy book the one day Enduro MTB with them, and it was a blast!!!! Such a good rides and trails! Anything you need from jumps, drops, technicals parts, and a lot and lot of steep descent. The team was great, great people, great riders, and great instructors! We both had so much fun, and if we wouldn't be so tired we have book another tour for the. This was an absolutely unforgettable experience. I'm an avid mountain biker and generally ride 3-4 times a week in Colorado weather permitting. I've honestly been disappointed with some of the Latam bike trips I've done due to poor equipment or confusing trail systems. Ixtepeji is an absolute jewel of a trail system with difficulty levels for every type of rider. Carlos and the Coyote team have an impressive fleet of real, modern Enduro and Downhill bikes. I was given a 2019 Scott Ransom with 170mm of travel which I'm pretty sure I used every bit of. For serious bikers, I highly recommend "El Toro" which was recently opened. It has to be around 3k feet of euphoric, technical downhill ending in a small town where you can crush some chelas, tlayudas and slap high-fives. Between that, incredible jump lines and drops, high speed "blues" and a couple mezcal shots in between, this day was the highlight of my entire vacation. Carlos, his pooch Lulu, Ivan and our Don driving us around in the truck offered the best company for a day of tearing up dirt. Before we started, we asked permission to enter the forest from El Chaneque, the ancient forest gnome, which added some spiritual reflection/intention setting. El Chaneque brought the goods and then some! It is absolutely remarkable to be able to ride at 10k ft. through the Zapotec forest and descend into the dessert valley below. I can't wait to hook up with Carlos at the Coyotes for another adventure in the near future!!

We had an amazing day starting with a tour of art and history in Oaxaca and then heading to the mountains for amazing downhill riding. The trails and scenery were superb and the tour provided a great lunch with snacks during the day. The location could not have been nicer and a tour guided by such friendly, prepared and talented people!

This was more than a bike trip. We had breakfasts and dinners in people's homes, markets, street vendors, the whole nine yards. I learned so much about Oaxaca from our guide, and Carlos did an excellent job. I'll be coming back. The trails are legitimate. The single black and double black technical descents are world class and on par with what you'd find in Rotorua, New Zealand, Whistler and North Vancouver Canada. The blue trails were beautiful and fun to ride as well. There are jumps and drops naturally scattered, but there is no definitive jumpline. You're not riding here for the jumps. You're getting high quality and greatly beautiful descents. I'm an active and fit rider and would say Carlos did an excellent job giving us plenty of time to ride while still having time in the evenings to explore. 10/10 recommend, it was an eye-opening experience. This didn't feel touristy, this felt like the real deal, and there's no other way I'd prefer it. Speaking Spanish, or going with someone who is fluent is highly recommended.

Organization, communication and equipment all perfect. The guides gave us a day with varied tracks, plenty of action and the highest-level entertainment. Even though I live so far away (Europe), I still have to go back. Thank you very much to the Coyote Adventures group!

Perfect coordination and planning of Coyote and his team, they took us to the best single trails in Oaxaca and his team brings the best energy and vibe, it was perfect for the group of friends and as each one passed, but there was a bike ride was an unforgettable experience through the forests of Ixtepeji, where we had the opportunity to take care and know more about its millennial roots and its people. Coyote is committed to these forests and to the people, admirable his work. It is a trip that has to be repeated several times a year.

They are the best!! Fer, Calaca, Raflow, Tanuz, Ivan - thank you very much for all your attentions. The place is at the level of the best bike parks in the world, period! It competes with places like Colorado or British Columbia in Canada. The Pick Up Lift Service is very very good, it gives you a chance to do 5-7 drops in a day - believe me you don’t need more (that was Olán quite intense). The tracks are in perfect condition, super well maintained and the guides know them perfectly, mark you incredible line and undoubtedly improve your level of running. The perfect complement with good food, Oaxacan style and the best recommendations to have an amazing time in Oaxaca City ending the 3 day shoot. Fully recommended and Coyote Adventures are the best!!!

We were recommended Coyote Adventures for a MTB shoot in Oaxaca and it was the best recommendation we have ever made, because apart from the very good organization and guide for the slopes in the mountain, the next day we also did a tour of two towns near the city where we had the opportunity to know more about the local culture and food. We highly recommend them.

I could not have chosen better; the weekend was super complete, in just 4 days we met more than 10 different tracks, we ate the most incredible and authentic in the area of the Sierra. And as if that were not enough at the end of the day dinner was in different places of the valley always with interesting stories and data with which Carlos our guide kept surprising us.
