This was an excellent tour with Hector. He has lived here since the late 80s. He was waiting for us and communications were easy. We left for the tour before the many tourist buses so we were often taking pictures without crowds. We saw many of the bays, the lighthouse, the beaches, the main square, and his explanation of the ceiling mural in Iglesias de La Crucecita was very helpful. We asked him to stop and see the Panteon Santa Cruz Huatulco....not a problem! This cemetery is filled with colorful murals and vibrant decorations. The caretaker was very gracious. We highly recommend this tour!

We have been to Huatulco before but never took a City Tour. Our guide, Hector shared a lot of information on the history and culture of Oaxaca which was all new to us. He took us to several spectacular viewpoints to see the bays in this area then on to Centro in La Crucecita to see the church, visit a locally owned Weaving Shop and Mescal tasting. Learned lots and really appreciated his knowledge. We started at 9AM and ended at 12:00. Nice short tour to get our bearings and more knowledge of this beautiful part of Mexico.
Hector was the perfect guide for us. With his vast knowledge, he made our visit so fun and enjoyable. We learned so much about this area and made some treasured memories. We highly recommend Hector!
Very pleased with the experience Hector was very knowledgeable showing my wife and I the beautiful surrounding area of Huatulco.
Great Views of several bays & the lighthouse. Plenty of stops for better viewing & taking pictures. Hector knows the area very well & he was very informative. We enjoyed the stops in the city as well.
Guide was excellent, very knowledgeable, helpful and considerate. Huatulco itself wasn't especially scenic.
Great views! Knowledgeable guide who was very attentive! Guide was easy to understand in English. Fun shopping.
Guide had a good command of English. Very informative on points of interest and questions about the area. Very accommodating on time to spend at each stop.
Excellent way to see the sights within a few hours. Very informative and well spoken guide Hector Recommended
Hector was a fantastic guide. Took us to all the key locations of Huatulco. We had never been here and are staying for a month so a super way to get our bearings on day 2. Hector is very knowledgeable and flexible with our tour. Highly recommend Hector and this tour.
The tour was a wonderful overview of the ciry. Tour guide Hector did a fantastic tour. Great explanation of what we saw.
Hector was great! He gave us a wonderful overview of the area and was very accomdating his ceviche was clean and comfortable and he provided water and beer!
Good overview of the area around the port. Driver/guide was interesting and very personable. He explained things well.
Hector was great, knowledgeable and fun! Mezcal sampling and local rug making are highlights along with nice bay views and a tour of a beautiful church!
Our guide was super knowledgeable he shared lots of historical facts that added to my understanding of Oaxaca culture.
A good way to see and learn about Huatulco area with a small group in an air-conditioned van. The driver was very knowledgeable about the local culture.
Manuel did an awesome job. He was very knowledgeable about the facts and history of Hualtalco. The port is pretty. It was too far to go the other town we visited, with the church. The town was very 3rd world. We met a nice local couple there who demonstrated making tortillas. The mezcal shop we visited in Hualtulco gave us numerous samples. We bought two bottles.
A great way to see the city and learn about about the people. The sites and views were amazing and all the people we met were fabulous
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and informative. We had a great time. Got some great pictures of everything. Thanks Eduardo!
We thoroughly enjoyed our Huatulco City private tour with Javier. He drove us around and showed us all of the scenic spots. He took us to see the lighthouse, Playa La Entrega and we got to see the famous wood carving of "Barbanegra". The highlight of the day was when he took us to a Mezcal tasting bar. We were able to taste several flavors of Mezcal as well as authentic hot chocolate. I was NOT brave enough to eat the "Chapulines" (grasshoppers). He also took us to see a factory store where workers use textile weaving machines to make beautiful tapestries and carpets. Interesting that the colors that are used are derived from different plants. We also saw the church in La Crececita where there is a mural painted on the ceiling of the Virgin Mary. We ended the tour by having lunch at a great spot that Javier recommended to us and we invited him to have lunch with us. What a wonderful day we had. Javier is a great tour guide!
Great day and tour guide went out of his way to accommodate my 81 year old mother. Saw a lot without being rush. Could not fault this tour in any way. A MUST do!
Good excursion. A little confusing at the beginning - some people were given red tags, others green, but we ended up on same van. Not sure what the different colors were meant to represent, and the rep said I’d didn’t matter. But once we started the tour, it was good. We covered a lot of areas, and guide was good.
The view from the lighthouse area. Shopping in the city. The church. Javier’s commentary re the history and how residents obtain water for their homes.
It was a decent tour. Raciel took us to many beauty spots and lookouts around Crucita and the marina area. He was a good tour guide. We went to two businesses in the town. One was a tourist shop that sold souvenirs and mescal. We were offered different mole sauces, corn chips, dried grasshoppers, and sample the mescal and/or hot chocolate. We were there too long, in my opinion. Then we went to another, higher level tourist shop which was, for me, much more interesting. We were shown a demonstration of the process of making the beautiful hand woven rugs of the region. She explained the use of the insect cochineal in making dye for the wool. Real works of art! Then, we were directed to walk around the town plaza square and meet him on the other side in approx 20 minutes. This also very interesting and felt safe. I wish we had spent more time at the plaza, but we did have time to visit the church briefly, but Mass was going on, so not possible to learn about the church at that time. Overall, it was a good tour and the van was very nice and air conditioned.
There's just not that much to see in Huatulco. It's a manufactured vacation destination. Our guide did take us to see a neighborhood woman who gets by by making tortillas and a weaving shop where old fashioned looms are still used, plus a church and drive through the countryside. Ok, just not all that.
Alberto was fantastic. No question was too silly, he knows so much history and biology, and he made it easy to fall in love with this place he loves. He also gave us an excellent dinner recommendation when we said we were looking for someplace vegetarian-friendly!
Excellent trip driver Ricardo and Manuel, looked after us really well and the tour was great too, definitely recommend them and the tour.
Not too much to see in Huatulco and the surrounding area. Ricardo, the driver and Manuel the guide, did their best to make the tour enjoyable. Of course, too much time was allotted for shopping.
Alberto was an amazing tour guide!! He picked us up from the airport and took us to our hotel. He took us on a walking tour of the city, a yacht tour of the bays and mud bath with local women. He's extremely knowledgeable and has a background in biology, so if you're a science nerd his knowledge will help you connect with the area, which I absolutely loved! We were in a group of 13 and were always comfortable and safe everywhere we went. I will absolutely be using Alberto and Homietours when we visit again!! Much as gracias Alberto!
Alberto was a good guide, very knowledgeable with excellent English. Initially he took to to several viewpoints along the coast, explaining about Huatulco's green credentials. He was happy to take photographs of us with the bright blue Pacific as the backdrop. Then he took us into the town centre and dropped us off for just under an hour to do our own thing (while he did a taxi run) picking us up in front of the church in the photo. We didn't get to visit a (weavers) looms shop, but had a quick stop to see them make tortillas and to taste one. We also didn't get to sample the different flavours of Oaxaca like: mole, chocolate, string cheese, salsas, grasshoppers and especially a huge range of mezcal flavours, as he seemed to be in a rush to take us back to our ship to pick up another tour party. Still the tour was much cheaper than the equivalent one our cruise ship was offering.
Our tour guide was Emanuel. My favorite part of the tour was how much insight he gave us into Huatulco, and the people and history there. It combined well with the sights and the shopping. I would come back to Huatulco.
The tour guide, think his name was Alberto was great.very accommodating and knowledgeable. He did a great job. Would highly recommend. Can’5go wrong with this tour
As first timers to Huatulco we were excited to explore the area and our tour with Emanuel did not disappoint. We were picked up promptly in a clean air conditioned vehicle and spent the next 3 hours seeing the beautiful sites from the local areas of La Bocana Beach up to the lighthouse with a few bonus stops along the way! We enjoyed our first mezcal tasting and the stop at the church and market. Emanuel’s knowledge and passion for his home made the experience a pleasure from start to finish! Gracias and Happy Birthday Emanuel!
My husband and I went on the city tour with Alberto in May 2021. It was a private tour booked through our resort (Secrets) for the two of us and he was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. He picked us up and brought us back to the resort and we felt completely safe and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We don't speak Spanish, and his English was very good! My favorite part was in town when he took us to the weaving shop. Next time we will have a cover made for our bed back home. We certainly enjoyed the Mezcal tasting as well and purchased a beautiful and delicious bottle of Mezcal to bring home with us. I'm glad we took it at the front-end of our trip, it made all the difference in enjoying the city and culture of Huatulco. We would like to travel to Huatulco again, and will take another of the tours, hopefully with Alberto.
We were so lucky to have Alberto as our guide. What a fabulous guide. He was very interesting and very informative of his country. He went out of his way to make our trip one of a kind. He was also so very kind to go out of his way to help me have my glasses fixed. Thank you again and we look forward to our next visit to your wonderful safe and friendly people.
This tour focused on the cultural traditions of Huatulco. Our guide was Roberto (Alberto?) Marquez, who was knowledgeable and engaging. I felt his pride and love for Huatulco. And the tour had so many different parts, from the church to the town, to City Hall, to weaving demonstration, to making tortillas to Mezcal tasting, I loved it all! Thank you so much.
Alberto was the best tour guide you could ask for. He is very intelligent and a great ambassador for his home. He was patient, answered all questions and was very accommodating to his clients. He is licensed and very professional yet personable. We had a great day!
Homie tours made our experience just better, I fully recommended, what aver your needs are if you want to go to Oaxaca, they simply the best , muchas gracias
The church is nice, the town is very Mexican, not very commercial, which is a good thing, if you are in Mexico you want authentic
Excelente la explicación, el recorrido, las recomendaciones de comidas típicas, artesanías y todo el servicio en general, recomiendo mucho al guía Rodolfo Ruiz👍🏻👏🏻
Excellent very good service the tourist guide knowledgeable of his helpful work clean and punctual attentive and pleasant already
It is a tour that can be ignored, since Huatulco is not so extensive and who likes to walk, can tour it alone. This saves the time lost in places of sales of mezcal, clothing, regional products, etc.etc.etc. Anyone who is interested in shopping can go to the centre (which is small) where the shops are located on their own, without having to put pressure on them to buy on such excursions.
