We had a great time. Pavel was an amazing guide who was very knowledgeable about all the sites and people and offered lots of genuinely interesting information that goes beyond typical tours. When we return to Oaxaca we will definitely book with Zapotecos tours again.

Meet us at the designated meeting point located at Melchor Ocampo 1017, where this experience will begin.
In Santa María del Tule, you will discover an impressive Montezuma cypress (ahuehuete), considered the widest tree in the world. Our guide will share fascinating historical insights, fun facts, and the legends that have made this natural wonder famous over time. Additionally, if you wish, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a local breakfast featuring traditional delights such as memelitas, tamales, and freshly brewed coffee."
During our tour, we will make a stop at the Santa Inés restaurant, where you can enjoy authentic Oaxacan cuisine through a traditional seven-course menu, for a cost of $420 MXN per person. It will also have the option to choose individual à la carte dishes, according to their tastes and preferences. Food has an additional cost and is paid directly at the restaurant.
Explore the fascinating archaeological site of Mitla accompanied by a certified guide, who will reveal the history, secrets, and worldview of the Zapotec culture. Admire the impressive architecture of its palaces and capture unique photos of a site rich in history and tradition.
Visit Teotitlán del Valle, a village renowned for its handwoven wool rugs crafted using ancestral pedal loom techniques. Discover how local artisans create vibrant, long-lasting colors using natural dyes derived from plants, minerals, and insects such as cochineal, pomegranate, and indigo. This tradition, passed down through generations, reflects Oaxaca’s rich cultural heritage and deep respect for the environment. Take the opportunity to learn about the artisanal process and bring home a one-of-a-kind rug directly from the hands of talented local weavers.
At this traditional mezcal house, visitors will discover the full production process of mezcal, one of Oaxaca’s most iconic beverages. Learn about the different varieties of agave and observe the time-honored techniques of cooking, crushing, fermentation, and distillation—methods that have remained largely unchanged for centuries. At the end of the visit, you’ll enjoy a tasting of various mezcals produced on-site, experiencing firsthand the authentic flavors of this Oaxacan tradition. It’s a unique opportunity to explore the richness and diversity of this ancestral spirit while immersing yourself in the culture and traditions of Oaxaca.
We will return to the city, where drop-off will be provided a few blocks from the main Zócalo. However, if any traveler prefers to be dropped off at a different point along the route, they may request this directly with the guide.

Pavel and Iseael have been truly exceptional in managing a very busy schedule throughout the day. Although I was initially skeptical about dedicating an entire day to a tour, looking back on the experience, I realize it would have been a significant loss had I chosen to skip it. The entire excursion was absolutely worth the trip, particularly when considering the high level of experience, the wealth of knowledge provided, the excellent price-to-value ratio, and the overall quality of the day. I would easily recommend these individuals to anyone visiting Oaxaca.
The tour was super fun and interesting! Guide Pavel is very passionate about the history of Oaxaca, so it made the tour even more interesting. The lunch place was spot on after the active part of the day, this was one of the most tasty dishes we tried in Mexico. The driver Israel did the best job, the journey was comfortable and fast.
Best tour ever. Everything was just great , hierve el agua was stunning , Mitla and the Tule tree as well, very impressive. The rug factory was also informative and the mezcal tasting was a lot of fun! We had Pavel as a guide and Israel as our driver and both were really nice. Pavel is very knowledgable and passionate about history and made the whole experience fun!
Best tour in our trip to Mexico. Our guide, Pavel, was very knowledgeable and fun making this an unforgettable experience. Israel, the driver, was amazing as well making us feel safe along the way. Would definitely recommend. The food was an awesome experience as well.
Excellent day, the pools waterfall and views are spectacular. Guide Luis was friendly attentive and informative as was driver Eric. A great experience
Very good experience, Israel and Lizz were amazing! We enjoyed a lot!
Very good experience. Very interesting. We like the tour and our guide. Very friendly and well organised.
Pavel was so knowledgeable and professional. Driver Daniel was great too.
Very comprehensive tour! Pavel was extremely knowledgeable and shared many facts about each location. Learned a lot, and walked a lot. Highly recommend. Be prepared with a swimsuit, sandals, and maybe a light towel for the pools as this was not mentioned on the things to bring.
Perfect and very exhaustive tour, between local experiences and beautiful landscapes, with a lovely guide, thanks a lot for your dedication Pavel!
Pavel and Miguel the driver are great
Excellent value for money, this trip is jam packed with different experiences and chances to meet many locals. Hiking to see the petrified waterfalls was a personal highlight, as was cooling off in the pools afterwards. Lisa is an excellent guide, so knowledgeable and speaks passionately about Oaxaca, making the day feel extra special.
Liss was an awesome guide. Very engaged and helpful.
Great experience with our guide Lizet! Highly recommend if you want to make the most of your time in Oaxaca.
Great full day tour with lease. Kind and knowledgeable. Recommend it.
This tour was an excellent, educational experience. I learned so much about the culture and nature around Oaxaca. My guide, Pavel, was knowledgeable, kind, and professional. He is clearly passionate about teaching guests and ensuring that they have a pleasant experience. I especially enjoyed the hike at Hierve el Agua and visiting the textile workshop. Lunch has been changed to a local restaurant with a 7-course meal, which was a little disappointing as it was a bit bland for vegans and vegetarians and was more expensive than tastier meals I've had in Oaxaca. Overall it was a great day!
A tour well worth the time and money. Lise & Miguel were fantastic throughout the day. Very informative and knowledgeable about all aspects of the day. There’s a lot of experiences for one day, yet nothing felt rushed. Highly recommend.
Wonderful experience, it was really fun and informative. Cristian, our guide, was really kind and knowledgeable, he really made the experience unforgettable. Good luck my brother
This tour is well done. Be prepared for a full day! It does involve a lot of hiking if you want to do everything.
This tour provides a real taste of Oaxaca culture. Transportation is comfortable and the guide is very knowledgeable. We left at 8am and got back at 9pm. The one slight negative was the lunch. The food was just ok.
Amazing tour with Pavel (our guide) and Danil (our driver)! The tour is such a good value for money! You will cover so much stuff in a day it is unbelievable. The food / lunch has been changed from the previous badly reviewed buffet - it's now a 7 course Oaxacan tasting menu in a newly built restaurant. It's $420 currently but it's well worth the money as you get to try a bunch of different dishes. They were happy to adjust to both Vegetarian and Vegan members in our group. They took card when we went too. We didn't feel pressured to buy from the Rug place at all but it was a great experience and many people from our group did get something just because they were so cool. All in all, great your. Would recommend.
This tour was so fun, informative, and comprehensive! Our guide Pavel was knowledgeable and friendly and he made the trip come to life with his explanations. He was also very easy to approach for questions. The length of time given in Hierve el Agua was perfect because it let you do both the hike and swim in the pools. I honestly couldn’t imagine doing a trip where you don’t get this much time. The trip to Mitla was wonderful and, again, you learn so much about the site that I couldn’t imagine going without a guide. The Tule tree was so awesome to see and the trip to the rug workshop was fun, as it’s lovely to have them explain their processes and show you the effort that goes into making their products. Lastly, the Mezcal tasting is so comprehensive and interesting and it’s a perfect way to end the day. Overall, a trip that is well worth it and, if you only have availability to do one trip in Oaxaca, this is what I would recommend!
This tour was long but totally worth it. We got to see the best and beautiful spots outside of the city, ate delicious food, had great mezcal, witnessed beautiful rugs and tapestries being hand made before us. Our tour guide and driver were great. Thank you Pavel and Daniel.
Lizzet and daniel were amazing very friendly and professional. They were also very accommodating to all passengers . The trip was amazing , I loved all our activities.
This was a fantastic tour and we got to experience a little bit of Oaxaca throughout the day at different locations. Great lunch in between the tour locations. Everything was explained super well.
This was a long day but with lots of fun activities. Hierve el Agua was very worthwhile, the lunch stop offered something for everyone and we enjoyed the rug weaving demonstration and the Mezcal taskings as well. The big surprise was Mitla which is in excellent shape and really interesting. Our guide Pavel was really excellent in explaining everything we saw.
The tour with Pavel was amazing and also our driver, Israel, was excellent ! They were a great team and showed us all the sites with great enthusiasm. I would highly recommend this experience.

We very much enjoyed this tour, our second tour with Pavel and Zapotecos Tours. Pavel, our guide, was so knowledgeable, but more than that, he shared the culture and history with heart and passion. Every stop was informative and fun! We also enjoyed meeting others looking to learn more about Oaxaca, it's people, it's culture and it's history.
It was a long day but packed full of activities that were fun and interesting. Our guide Liz and driver Israel did a great job. My favorite part was Hierve el Agua - getting to swim after the hike felt very refreshing. We also really enjoyed Mitla and learning about the Zapotecs.

We had Pavel as our guide and Israel as our driver. Wow what an incredible tour! Pavel is full of knowledge and extremely passionate about sharing the history and culture of Oaxaca. Also he did the entire tour in both ENGLISH AND SPANISH. Truly impressive. Not to miss!
Pavel was our guide and was extremely informative. He made the entire day engaging, educational, and interesting while sharing his knowledge of Oaxaca and its rich culture.
The tour was great! Our guide Liz was lovely and was able to give us a lot of interesting information throughout the whole tour. Izrael is such a good driver as well, we felt safe the whole time, especially on the steep mountain roads :) All in all, I can definitely recommend this tour!
Excellent tour! It’s a long day but you will get to experience many things and it’s completely worth it. Make sure to bring comfy shoes and rain jacket or umbrella f coming during raining season. Hierve el agua was a spectacular experience with enough time to hike and get in the water without feeling rushed. Mitla , tule tree, rugs and learning from mezcal added to the experience. Our guide, Pavel, was knowledgeable and fun. Would highly recommend.
We had a wonderful experience and learned so much about Oaxaca! Liz was very knowledgeable about all the sites we visited. The Tule tree, Hierve El Agua, Mitla, the tapestry workshop, and the mezcal tasting were all great! If you visit Oaxaca, I highly recommend Zapotec Tours to learn more about this beautiful state!
The experience was 5 star, Luis our guide was knowledgeable and helpful about every site we visited. I recommend this tour , And again kudos to Luis for making this adventure fun. And Zapotec’s Tours for this outstanding experience.
Cristian was so kind and knowledgeable and fun! Maybe the best tour guide ever. I enjoyed every stop, and I learned so much. I’m not usually used to booking long tour days, but this was a beautiful experience. I felt that each site we visited was treated with respect and not over-touristed. And shout out our driver Miguel, who kept us super safe and on-schedule!
Great option for taking this tour!! We were interested in going early to Hierve el Agua and this one offered that option. Guide Pavel and the driver Daniel were very amicable and knowledgeable. Pavel even showed a lot of photos in the van to complement the great onsite explanations. Length of tour is ok for the sites visited and the number of visitors is good too. Price is very good for the value that you get. Hierve el agua and Mitla are a most, and El Tule and the Mezcal distillery are very interesting as well.

Very nice trip, it was well planned and we saw a lot of things!

Well managed tour. Lizzet was very nice and helped me during the trip. Would recommend this tour operator. This tour covers quite a few destinations and is a full day activity, which i prefer.
We had an absolutely wonderful time on the tour!! Liz and Eric are the best. It’s a perfect way to see a big slice of oaxaca in just one day, and I didnt have to worry about tickets or transportation or anything. A 10/10 experience
