Junior is the best. Started the day off at Monte Albán where he had great knowledge in the history of the area. The visits with alebrije and weaving artisans were great experiences. We even grabbed some food at the market in El Tule! Had a great time. Next time we’ll go with him on his Nacho Libre tour.

Our next visit is to the town of San Antonio Arrzaola, the birthplace of wood carving. Here you can learn about Oaxacan alebrijes. It is a place for shopping and learning.
We will visit the town of Teotitlán del Valle, a Zapotec town where you will learn about one of the crafts of this culture. You will learn about sheep wool rugs, how they dye and seal the colors with natural instruments. In this same town you will learn about beeswax candles. The men follow a tradition of bringing candles that measure more than a meter and are decorated with beeswax flowers to the entire bride's family. The workshop offers explanations and products for sale.
The first site to visit is the archaeological site of Monte Albán. We will take a guided tour where you will learn about the history of the ancient Zapotec city.
You will visit a 100% artisanal Mezcal palenque, you will take a tour of the palenque and a Mezcal tasting will be offered, and at the end you will be able to buy products made by this palenque.
The town of Santa María allows visitors to visit the widest tree in the world. The famous tule tree. The ahuhuete is more than two thousand years old and measures more than 42 meters in height, with a diameter of fourteen meters.
We will end the service with the return to the city of Oaxaca where you are allowed to stay in the Zócalo of the City.

Our recent trip to Oaxaca was unforgettable, and a huge part of that was the private tour we took with Juan Reyes Jr. From start to finish, Juan made the experience personal, educational, and incredibly enjoyable. Our day began with a visit to Monte Albán, where Juan shared fascinating insights about the ancient Zapotec civilization and the history behind the ruins. Walking through such an important archaeological site was already impressive, but Juan’s explanations really brought the place to life. We also explored Oaxaca’s rich artisan traditions. One stop took us to a family workshop where we learned about traditional textile weaving and natural dyes. Seeing the process up close and meeting the artisans who keep these traditions alive was a highlight of the trip. Another memorable stop was El Árbol del Tule. The massive tree is truly astonishing in person, and Juan gave us background on its cultural and historical significance to the local community. Of course, no trip to Oaxaca would be complete without mezcal. Juan brought us to a mezcal producer where we learned how this iconic spirit is made—from harvesting the agave to the distillation process—and enjoyed tasting several varieties. We also visited artisans who create the famous alebrijes, the colorful hand-carved wooden figures Oaxaca is known for. Watching the carving and painting process gave us a new appreciation for the detail and skill behind each piece. Throughout the day, Juan was friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about sharing Oaxaca’s culture. His connections with local families and artisans made the tour feel authentic and special rather than rushed or touristy. If you’re visiting Oaxaca and want a meaningful way to explore the region’s history, culture, and traditions, we highly recommend taking a private tour with Juan Reyes Jr. It was one of the highlights of our trip. Thank you Jr.!!
Junior arrived promptly at our Airbnb in a spotless, comfortable vehicle, immediately setting a professional tone for the day. Throughout our excursion, he demonstrated an impressive depth of knowledge about the sites we visited, along with a strong understanding of Mexico’s archaeological heritage and the importance of its preservation. He was exceptionally attentive, anticipating our needs and thoughtfully handling small details — even providing coins for restroom access when we had none. We especially appreciated his excellent recommendations for dining, drinks, and shopping, guiding us to authentic local spots far from the typical tour bus routes. Junior remained flexible and accommodating throughout the journey, and his quick wit and warm sense of humor added a delightful energy to the entire experience. He truly made our adventure both seamless and memorable.
Excellent time with Juan - he was flexible, accommodating, funny, interesting and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
Amazing trip with friends and our guide jr was the best we could expect. He was informative and reliable and attentive to please the tourists. He made our stay the most pleasant trip memorable!
It was a perfect day tour. Small group, great guide, and beautiful sights. Junior was very friendly and knowledgeable about Mexican History, weaving, culture and more. We got wonderful presentations from a sweet generational weaving family and a mescal maker. It was all more in depth than I expected and we felt relaxed and unhurried. There was even some time to wander and take in the magnificent Monte Alban.
We had an incredible time and experience with on our Oaxaca Tour with Juan! This was my parents first trip to Oaxaca and our 1st private tour, and from the beginning Juan was very professional, kind, and engaging. We felt very welcomed and ready to explore! Juan was very passionate when explaining Oaxacas culture, tradition, and shared anecdotes that made you really connected to to all the educational history we learned at every stop of the tour. Monte Alban, Alebrijes at Arrazola, El Tule, Teotitlan de Valle, and the Mezcal Tour were amazing! We were in awe at Monte Alban and El Tule, and the intricate artistry and details put into the Alebrijes/ textiles, and ending the tour relaxing with Mezcal and Oaxaca helados. It was a great well rounded trip to explore Oaxaca! Highly recommend this tour with Juan, he is a great guide, enthusiastic about sharing the regions history, and made sure we felt confortable through our the trip. He was extremely patient and helpful with my folks who needed some time getting up and down the pyramids at Monte Alban as well. You will have a meaningful and memorable time booking this tour with Juan, highly recommend to all !
Incredible Tour with a Knowledgeable Guide in Oaxaca! We had an unforgettable experience exploring Oaxaca with Juan! From the moment the tour began, it was clear that he had a deep passion and knowledge of the region’s history, culture, and traditions. Visiting Monte Albán was a highlight—Juan brought the ruins to life with fascinating stories and historical details that we never would have learned on our own. He also took us to other incredible sites, sharing insights on everything from Zapotec civilization to local customs, making the entire experience both educational and engaging. Beyond the history, Juan was friendly, professional, and attentive, ensuring we had a comfortable and enjoyable time throughout the tour. We highly recommend booking with Juan if you want a truly enriching and memorable visit to Oaxaca!
Exceptional tour, with an incredible guide. Juan is attentive, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable. One of the best tours I’ve booked across the world, and you should feel assured in booking this tour!
We were looking for a proposal different from all the usual ones, avoiding Hierve El Agua to focus more on the ruins, handicrafts and Mezcal production. We found all this in Trip Tours' proposal, a one-day excursion with a competent, friendly and super helpful guide. I would not hesitate to contact them again for a next excursion, and would recommend them to anyone. A+++ !!!
From the very first moment we knew that we had made the best decision when choosing this tour. Monte Albán was simply spectacular; not only for the majesty of the site, but for the clear and passionate way in which they explained every historical detail. Walking among those ruins with a well-grounded guide totally changes the experience. In Teotitlán del Valle we discover the true art behind the woollen mats. Seeing how they get the colors with natural dyes and understanding the symbolism of the designs made us value much more the artisan work. The palenque de mezcal was an authentic and fun experience. We learned mostly the traditional process and enjoyed a very well explained tasting, really understanding what we were trying. Finishing at the Tule Tree was the perfect closure to a day full of culture, history and tradition. The tour was perfectly organized, the treatment was professional and warm, and at all times we felt accompanied and well taken care of. It is certainly the best way to get to know Oaxaca deeply and authentically. We'd do it again without thinking.
An amazing experience in Oaxaca. Since we arrived in Monte Albán, the explanation of Junior Reyes was very interesting and helped us understand the history and importance of the place. The views are stunning and really worth touring with someone who knows the site well. Then we visited the wool mat workshop in Teotitlán del Valle, where we learned about natural dyes and the artisan process; it was very authentic and special to know the work behind each piece. Palenque de mezcal was another highlight: knowing the traditional process and trying different mezcals made the experience complete and very enriching. Closing the tour at the Tule Tree was perfect, it is awesome to see in person. Everything was very well organized, the treatment was excellent and the tour exceeded our expectations. Fully recommended if you want to live Oaxaca in an authentic way.
Excellent Guide and magnificent person, with a charisma like very few, abundant knowledge on many topics, with which history, becomes more interesting, without doubt 100% recommended, the best in all of Oaxaca!🙌🏻💯
A super recommended experience. The guide made the tour light, entertaining and very informative. It clearly explains each place, sharing interesting facts that really enrich the visit. Ideal if you are looking for a well-organized tour, enjoyable and with a guide who knows how to make the journey even more enjoyable.
