Quinta Real Huatulco was easily our favorite of the three hotels we stayed at on this trip. Within the same class of hotels, this one stood out as the best in our opinion. The atmosphere was incredibly relaxing, with fewer crowds and a peaceful environment that made it easy to unwind. Our room had beautiful views of the ocean, and enjoying the scenery from the jacuzzi was a highlight. The infinity pools overlooking the ocean were stunning and made for the perfect place to spend the afternoon. Every part of the property felt calm, scenic, and well cared for. The staff was also very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed during our stay. Their service really added to the overall experience. They offered us breakfast or lunch on them since there was a bit of noise since they were fixing a suite next to ours. We didn't have an issue with the noise and that was a kind gesture. We had a wonderful time here and will definitely be coming back on our next visit to Huatulco.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel! It’s so beautiful. The rooms and everything were so clean. The beach was quiet otherwise lots of chairs. Very private. We rented a car so did lots of exploring but the meals we had at the restaurant were delicious. Very friendly staff. Great internet. We miss the walk to the beach! Such a great trip. We will be back! 🤍
I would highly recommend spending a little extra for a room with a private pool. We made great use of ours, along with the spacious balcony. The room itself was a good size, clean, and comfortable. Because it’s a smaller property, the hotel felt quiet and relaxed, and the main pool and beach area were never crowded. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the bed was very comfortable — it was also extremely quiet at night, making for a great sleep. We enjoyed the food at the hotel restaurant, though we found it quite expensive — roughly double the price of similar meals in La Crucecita, which is about a 10-minute taxi ride (around 100 pesos). There are also a few restaurants within a 15–20 minute walk if you prefer to stay nearby. A kettle or microwave in the room would have been a nice addition for making tea or heating small items. The hotel has a unique look and lots of character, surrounded by trees, lush vegetation, and birds. The hillside location offers amazing views — my favorite moments were watching the sunrise from the balcony, taking a morning dip in the private pool, and listening to the birds. While the property is older and could use some updates, it was clean and full of charm, which mattered more to us than a modern but characterless resort.
Quinta Real Huatulco is a beautiful resort in a stunning natural setting. The pool is wonderful, the vegetation is lush, and the property truly feels like a small paradise. Overall, the experience does feel like staying at a five-star luxury hotel, and most of the staff is kind and welcoming. Small touches like being invited to feed the iguanas add a unique and charming element. That said, there are several details that break the premium feeling. The hotel clearly shows its age and lacks consistent maintenance. We upgraded to a private suite with a pool, but the pool lost water every day. The air conditioning could be stronger, especially for this climate. Some basics were surprisingly outdated: one bedside table was missing a lamp when we arrived (they later brought one), the desk had no power outlets (clearly pre-laptop era), and when we asked for a solution, we were given a very cheap extension cord, which felt out of place in a luxury hotel. Throughout the stay, it felt like we had to keep asking for things that should already be standard. Food is delicious, but prices are extremely high for Huatulco — easily two to three times what you pay outside the hotel, which feels excessive for the destination. Finally, the check-in staff was noticeably rigid and not very guest-oriented. We asked for a one-hour late check-out and were denied due to the room being “assigned,” despite the hotel clearly being mostly empty. Overall, a beautiful and luxurious resort experience slightly held back by maintenance issues, outdated details, overpriced food, and inflexible service. I’d rate it around an 8/10.
We stayed a week in late November and it was just amazing ! Not very crowded, very often we were the only people by the pool, and when we weren’t it did not feel crowded at all. The beach is right there and while it’s a public beach, it was not busy! Poop clean and nice to swim in, large enough for laps. Room was really nice( we had a super king suite with a marvellous ocean view). Bed was very comfortable (I think it was California king), very good pillow and bedding. Room cleaning was daily and spot on. Easy drive to the town for breakfast or dinner, spent the days by the pool or the beach. Restaurant on site served good food but was unnecessarily highly priced, we say many people eat there, especially breakfast. We went out to explore the town. Staff was very lovely and helpful. Snacks and drinks by the pool - also very nice ! It nails a feel of a boutique upscale hotel! Other comments were that the place is oldish but I did not feel that it mattered, actually added to the feel! Would stay here again!
