Burg Rabenstein

A hotel with an enormous potential though with some evident issues that would be best addressed. It really requires a decision if it should be targetting a premium visitor, or a more budget one. The rooms are very generous and, given the location inside a medieval castle, one can live with no air conditioning. Bathrooms' decor goes back to the 70s/80s and this would be one area to focus on. Lighting is another issue. With small windows (understandably) more attention should be paid to providing adequate lighting in the room and in the bathroom. Staff generally very helpful, friendly and going out of the way, but some of the processes (arrangement of dining, for example) could be handled in a more modern way. Breakfast is probably the biggest disappointment - lots of standard stuff (rolls, meat cuts, cheeses, cereals, etc.), but nothing much for a more aspiring customer.

The tour was amazing, Thanks to Tobi (Hagen von Rabenstein) the guide that gave us the tour, he made the tour amazing and so interactive and made the extra effort of explaining everything to us in English,it felt like he brought the history of the place to life, he knew a lot of facts and he was very informative, Long Live Tobi von und zu Rabenstein

Stayed for one night. The experience is one of a kind. Also the owl/falcon sanctuary next door is a must visit. The rooms needs some freshening up but overall an excellent experience.

Excellent menu , exceptional whisky list. Lits of wine and beer. 3 course set menu for about 40 euro. A lot of activities to do and in a lovely setting. Ask for a guided tour with the swordsman!
