We took a family cruise and booked a private tour on viator and had the pleasure of having Amir as our guide. He was excellent in taking us to really neat sites and explaining the history behind the sites. He was very personable and made the experience so much more pleasurable.
We are group of 6 seniors and booked a private tour. (Max 6 people). Everything was so smooth even though I don't have the driver's contact ( That's bcos I don't have the wi-fi during the cruise day,so I didn't receive the msg 1 day before from the Viator informed us who is our driver and his contact phone). Our tour guide/driver Aamir is a friendly person, he was holding a paper with my name, so I can easily identify him. Although we were late by 25 mins bcos of water shuttle delay, Aamir didn't show any impatient. He drove us around and patiently explained the story of about Peggy's Cove, Titanic Grave Site and the Citadel. We are all happy with Aamir' service and highly recommend this tour to other visitors!
Our private tour with Claudio Benigno turned out to be a truly wonderful day. The man is a font of knowledge....funny and engaging and shared his true love of Nova Scotia with us. Our teenage grandson, who is a lobster lover, was delighted with our little stop to see the "lobster whisperer " and learn a lot of interesting details about lobster. We saw so much, both historically and of the beautiful scenery. Was so disappointed with Peggy's Cove...so overrun by tourists. The beauty of that fabulous location is spoiled by all of the hustle and bustle. It was a delightful day and we are so happy you matched Claudio with us!
Our driver was excellent and catered to our needs even on a rainy day. We had a wonderful experience and enjoyed hearing the historical stories and details of the areas we visited.
Maaz was awesome! He was so kind to tailor the experience a bit for us as we wanted a little extra time at the citadel instead of the cemetery for my son. He was able to provide information around Peggy's Cove as well as Halifax and had a car seat ready to go for my 3 year old as requested. He was attentive and just fantastic!
I have taken many Viator tours. Most in a big group with a guide. We have a group of 28 people. Instead of 2 bus, they gave us 5 vans. I feel like this is more like a taxi with the driver giving some commentary of the area. The communication with owner of this tour was excellent and he was easy to work with. I’m sure the quality of the tour varies in each car. My driver was very brief in his commentaries. Our time at Peggy’s Cove was rushed (50 minutes). I recommend taking a bigger group tour rather than small van from Viator..
Viator should not put 4 people in a sedan coupe. Three in the back seat was extremely uncomfortable, even more so with the fast driving habit of our tour guide. It was a pretty drive to the Lighthouse, but didn't enjoy it because of being uncomfortable. Visiting the cemetery where the Holocaust deceased are buried was the most interesting part of the tour. I will give our guide credit for his knowledge on the subject. But he was late, arrived 10 minutes after the tour was to begin and we were advised to be there 10 minutes early and we were. In addition, he did not walk up to the terminal like other tour guides did. We had to walk out to parking lot to locate him. After we did, he did not introduce himself. I introduced myself and my 3 traveling partners. In the car he mainly conversed to our male passenger in the front seat. Us 3 women in the back seat was just along for the ride!
Our tour itinerary was great however our guide Adnan did not give us any information on our tour. He did not tell us anything and when asking questions we got a simple yes or no answer. We did not learn anything and were just dropped at each location and told to walk around without any explanation. Our guide was simply a driver and not a certified tour guide as described when we booked. It was very disappointing.
Very cordial and easy to communicate with. We enjoyed plenty of time at Peggy's Cove and enjoyed learning about so much history.

Peggy’s Cove lighthouse is an unforgettable destination and most tourists will go there. Worth the crowds! My son had a blast climbing the boulders. The citadel was a bigger surprise. Delightful fort staffed well with reenactment soldiers and a true museum.
We booked this tour following previous reviews, booking and further communication was seamless. We received a booking confirmation, with pickup time confirmed by what's App and email. Our guide [the fountain of knowledge named Al] was already waiting for us at dockside with a name card. Al's commentary begun as soon as we got into the vehicle, explaining the plan for the day. Al took us to parts of Halifax that you wouldn't see with a tour bus, he also planned thd route the avoid the other tour parties. Each stop that we made was accompanied by Al's in depth commentary, and allowed plenty of time at each stop to take photos and have time to ourselves. This was a tour that we would rate is 10 out of 10 , Al our guide was laid back, polite, patient, a safe driver and nothing was a bother to him. We would highly recommend this tour , we have a great day out , picked up at 10:30am ish and dropped us back at the boardwalk around 15:30pm A top day out by top guide/guy Al made our shortened cruise (due to Hurricane Erin) even better.
