Good tour but a lot of time in the van. Peggy’s cove is very cool. Knowledgeable tour guy. Nice van.

Itinerary
Lunenburg is a port town on the South Shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. Founded in 1753, the town was one of the first British attempts to settle Protestants in Nova Scotia in an effort to displace the French colonial Roman Catholic Acadians and indigenous Mi'kmaq. Old Town Lunenburg is one of only two urban communities in North America designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Considered to be the best surviving planned British colonial town in North America, you can still see the tall ships moored off the port and hear the smith’s hammer, while guided tours tell tales of lives lost on the ocean. Lunenburg’s harbour-side streets are lined with unique shops and award-winning restaurants that blend with the well-preserved and colourfully painted historic homes, much of it like a living museum from the 18th century.
The Bluenose Lodge is a Victorian Inn. Situated at the entrance of "Old Town", Lunenburg. This tastefully restored Victorian Historic Inn. The Inn was originally built in 1863 as a single family dwelling for prominent sea merchant/builders by the name of Morash & Eisnor. In 1946, the home was converted to a Lodge.
The Lunenburg Academy was designed by H.H. Mott, a well known New Brunswick architect, in 1893. The building was completed in 1895 and opened for class on November 7, 1895. It was constructed as part of Nova Scotia’s shift from one-room schoolhouses to public Academies. The Lunenburg Academy was registered as both a Provincial Heritage Property and a National Historic Site in 1983. The building is now the only intact 19th century Academy building surviving in Nova Scotia. It operated continuously as an educational building from 1895 until March of 2012.
St. John's Anglican Church was the first church established in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is the second Church of England built in Nova Scotia, and is the second oldest remaining Protestant church in present-day Canada. Early on 1 November 2001, St. John's church suffered significant damage by fire. It was restored and re-dedicated June 12, 2005.
Visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic to explore wharf-side vessels and their extraordinary aquarium, and the famous Bluenose II, a replica of the original world-famous racing schooner on the back of the Canadian dime.(Varied Dates Bluenose II is in Port)
Mahone Bay is a town along the South Shore of Nova Scotia in Lunenburg County. A long standing picturesque tourism destination, the town has recently enjoyed a growing reputation as a haven for entrepreneurs and business startups. Mahone Bay boasts a simple yet extraordinary way of life. Experience it all from history to unique shops, artisans to culinary experiences, along the colourful and quaint streets. Recently named as one of Canada’s top ten most beautiful towns by culturetrip.com, Mahone Bay is a must-see town famous for its picture perfect Trinity Churches photo-op.
The Trinity Church's are three prominent churches: St James' Anglican; St John's Evangelical Lutheran; and Trinity United. It has become an iconic image of Nova Scotia, frequently photographed and featured on postcards and calendars.
Nova Scotia is home to over 160 historic lighthouses, but no beacon is as photographed as the one in the vibrant fishing village of Peggy’s Cove. Built in 1915, Peggy’s Point Lighthouse still keeps watch over surging ocean waves and working lobster boats. Amble over giant rocks worn smooth by the sea and share in the view. The rocky coastline and ocean water around Peggy’s Cove is dangerous. Rogue waves (unpredictable, rough waves) commonly splash up over the rocks, even on calm, sunny days. Stay off the wet, dark rocks and do not swim. The safest way to enjoy the view is to make sure you are walking on dry, white rocks.

We went to Peggy’s cove and boy was it windy out there! Beautiful trip and enjoyed the documentary we watched in the van and all the info on Halifax.
The tour is well laid out, The experienced tour guide Paul has excellent stories and videos to fill the driving time. I appreciated Paul’s miked commentaries. I would suggest having your cameras ready for all the attractions in the streets near Lunenburg Wharf. We whizzed by so many it was difficult to know where to look next.
From booking to drop off this was a fantastic experience. Paul gave clear communication throughout and the confirmation of where pick up would be was especially well received. The van is comfortable and spacious, with all media clear and informative. Some great commentary from Paul along the way and he ensured we got the best shots either slowing or stopping where possible. The places visited in the 6 hours - Lunenburg, Mahoney Bay and Peggy's Cove were excellent. Paul changed the itinerary round so we would likely miss the cruise ship tours and that was appreciated at the lighthouse where we got some great shots. If you're visiting Halifax in a hotel or on a ship then look to book a tour - you won't regret it and the cost is extremely competitive for the memories you'll get.
This was an incredibly informative tour of this portion of Nova Scotia. Paul was our guide and shared a lot of information about the area. We had plenty of time at Peggy‘s Cove and then had a very scenic drive along the coast to Mahone Bay and continued onto Lunenburg. There we stopped and had time on our own to have lunch, take pictures and get a view of the blue nose boat. I highly recommend this tour and especially Paul! I can’t recommend him enough. Worth every penny.!
Wonderful way to get a feel for Nova Scotia outside the city of Halifax and Paul made the the driving time go pleasantly by with his stories and videos.
Totally enjoyed the trip. Paul was a great guide! The cities we visited will be marked as RETURN VISITS in my travel book.
Paul was an excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the history of the area. He picked us up at our hotel right on time and was open and friendly. He pointed out various sites and gave a little history lesson about each. At each stop we had plenty of time to explore and do our own thing. He also recommended some restaurants while we were in Lunenberg, which we took and were not disappointed. My husband discovered after we were dropped back at our hotel that he may have lost something important in the van, and when I texted Paul, he pulled over, found the item and promptly delivered it to us at our hotel. Top notch service and would highly recommend.
Paul is very knowledgeable. He has been doing tours for over 15 years. His vehicle is very comfortable. The tour we picked was long but he had interesting things to show us on his tablet to make the drive more interesting. Would use him again.
Guide was fantastic. Ride down to Peggy’s Cove and between stops videos were played that were interesting and added to the experience
Paul went above and beyond - his knowledge was exceptional and his hospitality outstanding… we took every recommendation and love every minute of it… highly recommend and will rate this experience as a definite highlight!
Very nice tour with a great driver/guide. Lots of history and he played very informative video's during our drive.
This was a full 8 hour day, and as mentioned by others and the operator, a lot of driving. However if you want to see Peggy's Cove (Beautiful) and Lunenburg you have to drive to get there! The stop in Lunenburg is 2 hours, allowing a leisurely good lunch (go with his suggested choices) and time to shop and stroll. We did not mind the videos to make the drive more informative. However be aware that if this is a cruise stop, you will not have any time left to do anything in Halifax. It's up to you, stay in Halifax and spend the day sightseeing, shopping, or take the drive.
Another great tour with Viator! Did a small group tour with just six people. The van was very comfortable with plenty of room. The tour guide pointed out a lot of interesting places. The ride to Peggy's Cove was almost a hour. Saw alot of interesting things on the way, plus some Eagles. Also he showed some clips of things that happened in Halifax, very interesting. Stay in Peggy's Cove for about a hour, amazing place. Then headed to Lunaberg a great fishing. Overall a great tour!
Absolutely one of the best tours we ever had! Paul, our guide was very knowledgeable and accommodating, while keeping us on schedule. The “limo van” was spotless and very comfortable. Peggy Cove is a beautiful MUST SEE place! Would highly recommend doing it with this company.
Paul was amazing to deal with from the moment of booking to the end of our full day excursion with him. He genuinely enjoys sharing his knowledge and passion for the Halifax and surrounding area and points of interest with visitors. He was attentive to my mother who was traveling with us, and gave us plenty of time to explore on our own in between visiting sights and attractions. This tour is worthwhile and is highly recommended.
We had an incredible experience on this tour. It was extremely well organized and moved at just the right pace throughout — never felt rushed, never felt like we were waiting around. Our guide Paul, was excellent: friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does. He made the whole experience even better with his insight and great energy. The customer service was unmatched from start to finish. Everything was smooth, professional, and handled with real care for the guests. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area
Wonderful tour! Paul is a class act! Well worth the money. It’s the off beaten path kinda tour and lots of history! The Vignettes were a nice touch. Nice lunch spot and fisherman’s cove shopping. Highly recommend.
This went above and beyond our expectations. Paul was incredibly knowledgeable about the area. He showed us all the hot spots that we wanted to see. 100% a must do if it’s your first time in the area.
The tour was very informative, and we were able to see many memorable places. Our guide was incredibly accommodating and even made an extra stop so we could pick up our camera equipment. Overall, a great experience.
Our trip to Peggy's cove, Mahone Bay & Lunenberg was wonderful. Claudio was a very knowledgeable guide and kept us thoroghly engaged. The trip dint feel rushed and we enjoyed exploring a lil bit of Nova Scotia!
Paul was very friendly and knew his history and had many personal stories about the area. This made the trip very memorable. He even had videos he showed during the drive.
Our tour guide was so nice and knowledgeable about the area. The only thing is that the ride was a bit long.
He picked us up at our hotel and dropped us off at the end of the day. Very helpful!
Paul is an excellent guide, giving us plenty of time at each stop and providing background information about what we were going to see. I also enjoyed the in-car videos about the Halifax explosion and the story of Gander in 2011; and I now know a lot more about lobsters!
Excellent trip experience overall! Our guide and driver, Paul, did a fantastic job organizing everything flawlessly. He was professional, punctual, very considerate, and made the journey incredibly enjoyable. Highly recommended to solo travellers who wish to explore the charm of Peggy's Cove and Lunenberg but can't drive by themselves.
Paul meet us at the cruise ship pier for an easy start to our day. We loved Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove. Paul drove along the delightful seashore for part of the distance between Halifax and Peggy’s Cove. Paul was knowledgeable and told great stories.
Overall it was great experience. Our guide, Paul, made the trip pleasant and organized from beginning to the end. He is knowledgeable about everything related to the city. The schedule was balanced. 100% recommend.
Tour guide was knowledgeable in the local history and shared little known areas of interest! Vehicles were new, clean and sound system was great. Highly recommended this tour and guide!
The tour was relaxing and illuminating. We got to see Peggy's Cove at a time when the massive cruise ships and bus loads of tourists weren't there. It was very windy, but quiet and we could walk around. You get a sense of the power of North Atlantic. Only six other people were there before us and we were able to get the money shot of the lighthouse without anyone else around. The town itself was graphic. Paul played us documentaries of the Titanic sinking (new evidence it was caused by a fire burning before it sailed) and of the 1917 Halifax Explosion as we drove to the different locations. He also gave a restaurant recommendation at Lunenburg. Paul showed us some of the main sites, suggested photographic shots, and gave us a couple of hours to explore and get lunch. Finally, we drove to Mahone Bay to see the three churches. Paul is very knowledgeable, helpful and up front. I've been on tours where the guides gave information that was not exact or misleading. He communicated clearly and followed up. Paul knows his history and I recommend taking one of his tours.
A wonderful day out, lucky enough to be just us that day. Paul was informative, helpful and full of local and historical knowledge. There was so much I didn't know about or realise about Halifax and the surrounding area. Even though the weather was horrendous the day we went along the south shore he did all he could to accommodate me being able to take pictures and see the coastal road. I understand he does historical tours around the city and just wish I had enough time to be able to have done this - well a good excuse to come back and visit.
Trip involved a long van ride in traffic and road construction. We got off late because driver waited on a tardy couple and shortened trip as one party had an early on board time. Too many ships at same time and most places were packed so we just drove around and took photos from van. Return via coastal road was behind a school bus. Driver was nice.
Paul picked us up at the agreed location and was already waiting for us. Paul contacted us again the night before. Everything was great!!! Note: when you leave the terminal, walk past all the people waiting with name signs and keep slightly to the left. He will be waiting for you there. Very nice, new, and well-maintained Ford bus. Good for about 14 people. There were 10 of us on September 15, 2025. Paul explained a lot. He also has an oversized screen in his Ford bus where he played various very informative YouTube videos. Very careful driving throughout the day! Compliments. Great stops. Always drove slowly at important spots so we could take photos. Great guy. Would definitely do it again. Plenty of time in Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg. @ Paul personally: PLEASE leave Lunenburg an additional 15 minutes earlier next time. You know what I mean. ;-) You were a great guy and explained a lot. Stay just the way you are and all the best to you!! My best regards, Ralf
First, this is more like a full day tour than 1/2 day and Paul is great. Beautiful Nova Scotia south shore and loved Lunenburg. Paul provided a wonderful historic perspective and has onboard entertainment to fill the void between stops. Paul makes great recommendations for things to see and where to eat. The Salt Shaker in Lunenburg for lunch was a great place to eat…it will be busy though.
The tour was nice but I could have done without the videos that did not pertain to the places we were visiting and the narration was hard to hear. The tour guide did not narrate the tour. I would have liked to have spent more time in some places and less in others. However, I did enjoy most of the places we visited.
It was the most amazing experience. Paul was very knowledgeable about the area and was very accommodating as my mom has mobility issues and uses a walker. Absolutely fantastic we had lots of time to wander each place. it was truly an amazing experience. Thank you Paul!!
Paul our guide was very accommodating and a great driver. We had ample time at all our stops and he provided good info and some great historical info movies on the bus. He stopped so we didn’t have to sit for long lengths of time. Very kind and experienced tour guide. Even learned about shark tracking in Nova Scotia. Interesting scenic day, even dipped our feet in the Atlantic Ocean!
Both sites Peggy’s cove & Lunenburg were worth visiting and a small group tour is always better than the big cruise excursions. In hindsight, i would have booked a different tour with this company. There was too much driving involved (about 3 1/2 hours) for a 6 hour tour. This is no reflection of the company, just the particular tour we chose.
This tour was absolutely amazing, I would wholeheartedly recommend it! It was the 8 of us, which was the perfect size I felt. Paul is a really cool guy and knew a lot about the history of the area and told us many cool stories on the way. He also prepared some interesting videos and documentaries we could watch. Peggy's Cove was our first stop, the lighthouse and the little village surrounding it is incredibly cute. Paul did his best to arrive right before the tour buses, so we could see it all without the crowds. If you're into jewellery make sure to visit Amos Pewter, a gem of a little shop, with super cute handmade silver jewellery and gifts, all very reasonably priced too. Lunenburg is the cutest village I've ever seen, I instantly fell in love with it. Out of the 2 hours I spent 1.5 wandering the streets and taking photos of nearly each charming little house, then I had a quick lunch sitting by the waterfront in the sun. I cannot recommend this enough, it's an absolute must see if you're visiting Nova Scotia, but be prepared to leave a little piece of your heart behind!
Great experience highly recommend this tour. Small group and you have more time to explore Halifax ans Lunnenburg. Thanks Paul!
Our guide, Paul, was very passionate and knowledgeable about Nova Scotia. He took great care of us. It was a lovely experience.
This was a great day out! Paul was an excellent driver, knowledgeable commentator and a thoughtful human being. He shared some of the history of Nova Scotia, the highs and the lows, and made it seem personable and relevant. Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg were definitely worth the visit. I highly recommend this tour!
Paul is a passionate Nova Scotian that knows all The special spots for an amazing photo or a delicious lunch. He goes above and beyond making day tours unforgettable. Thanks!
The areas covered are 'must see' in Nova Scotia. Paul's tour was comprehensive and fun. Nice to be in a small group and beat the tour buses.
Paul, the owner and guide is professional, considerate and knowledgeable, excellent communication right after we booked this tour, and good followup prior meeting him at the port. The half day tour is more like a full day tour I would say. A small group tour in a brand new mini tour bus brought us to picturesque Lunenburg, plenty of photo stops including Mchome bay, and other closeby places where big buses can’t go. We avoid many typical crowded tourist areas. Between stops Paul has also showed us many short documentaries, pictures and historical facts about Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, and how Americans and Canadians are connected. He makes sure we get back to our ships on time and drop each of us back to our piers. Paul has fully demonstrated the east coast Canadian hospitality and friendliness. Thanks very much and all the best to you and your family
Paul is an exceptional tour guide. He is impressively knowledgeable about the history of the area. He takes you on the most scenic roads. He provides options of fantastic videos that makes the ride in the van go quickly and full of info. The tour is well-timed, allowing ample time at each place to relax and enjoy the sites. We recommend The Fish Shack for lunch in Lunenburg.
Leave the driving to Paul and enjoy yourself on a great tour of Peggy‘s Cove and Lunenburg. Paul was very knowledgeable and congenial which made this tour delightful.
We met our driver outside our hotel, Paul introduced himself and shook hands .Comfortable bus,not cramped, back safe!
We really enjoyed Paul’s professionalism and knowledge. He has really thought through the customer experience for this tour. Peggy’s Cove and Lunenberg were wonderful stops. The van is very comfortable. Remember to pay with cash!
Paul McNeil was an excellent tour guide. He was very knowledgable and helpful. I will definitely recommend this tour to a friend. Thank you so much for a wonderful day.
