The journey was very nice but it would have been better to be in a bigger car: minivan to have more space and to be more confortable.

The Seal Island Bridge connects Boularderie Island to Cape Breton Island, crossing the Great Bras d’Or Channel. Opened in 1961, it is the third-longest bridge in Nova Scotia, stretching about 716 meters (2,350 feet). The bridge is not only an important travel route along the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 105), but it also offers stunning views of the Bras d’Or Lake, surrounding mountains, and small communities nearby. Many travelers stop at viewpoints to take pictures of the bridge and the scenery. It’s considered a gateway to the Cabot Trail, making it a must-see spot for anyone touring Cape Breton.
Take in one of Cape Breton’s most breathtaking viewpoints at the Bras d’Or Lake Look-Off, where sweeping panoramas reveal the beauty of this UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. From this elevated vantage point, visitors are treated to stunning views of the Bras d’Or Lake inland sea, a vast saltwater estuary surrounded by rolling hills, forested shorelines, and scattered coastal communities. The ever-changing light across the water makes this a perfect stop for photography, quiet reflection, or simply soaking in the natural beauty of Cape Breton Island. The look-off is an ideal place to pause during your journey around the island, offering a peaceful contrast to the region’s cultural and historic attractions. On clear days, the views stretch for miles, showcasing why Bras d’Or Lake is considered one of the most scenic inland waterways in the world.
Perched high above St. Ann’s Bay on the Cabot Trail, the St. Ann’s Lookoff is one of Cape Breton’s most breathtaking viewpoints. From here, visitors can see rolling highlands, sparkling waters, and the Englishtown area far below. It’s a popular stop for travelers to stretch, take photos, and enjoy panoramic views before continuing their Cabot Trail journey. On clear days, the lookout offers some of the best scenery on the island, especially in autumn when the highlands glow with colorful foliage. A true “don’t miss” stop along the Cabot Trail.
Englishtown is a small but historic community on the Cabot Trail, overlooking St. Ann’s Bay. This area has been home to the Mi’kmaq people for thousands of years, long before European settlement. In the 1620s, Scottish explorer Sir Robert Gordon attempted to create one of the first Scottish colonies here, calling it “Nova Scotia.” Though the settlement didn’t last, it marked one of the earliest Scottish efforts in North America. Later, Englishtown became known for fishing, shipbuilding, and ferry crossings, linking travelers across St. Ann’s Bay. Today, it’s most famous for the Englishtown Ferry, a short but scenic trip that gives visitors a taste of Cape Breton’s coastal charm. Surrounded by mountains and ocean, Englishtown is a peaceful stop with rich history, beautiful views, and a gateway to the Cabot Trail.

It’s a perfect spot for a tasty break while exploring Cape Breton or the Cabot Trail. A must-visit for those seeking a sweet, local experience and a taste of Nova Scotia craftsmanship.

From this quiet vantage point, visitors can take in expansive natural scenery, where rolling hills meet distant waters and the rugged beauty of Cape Breton unfolds in every direction. The elevated setting makes it an ideal stop for photography, fresh air, and a moment of calm while exploring the island. Less crowded than many of the island’s major viewpoints, Pathend Look-Off offers a more serene and intimate experience with nature, perfect for travellers looking to slow down and appreciate the quiet beauty of the region. On clear days, the visibility stretches far across the horizon, revealing the dramatic contrasts of forest, shoreline, and open sky that define Cape Breton’s landscape.
Ingonish Beach is one of Cape Breton’s most popular seaside spots, located along the Cabot Trail inside Cape Breton Highlands National Park. What makes it special is its rare mix of saltwater and freshwater swimming—you can enjoy the Atlantic Ocean on one side and a calm freshwater lake (Freshwater Lake) on the other, just steps apart. The beach has a long stretch of sand and pebbles, perfect for relaxing, picnicking, or taking a walk with beautiful mountain views all around. In summer, it’s a great place to swim, kayak, or simply soak up the sun, while in autumn the backdrop of colorful highlands makes it just as stunning. A perfect stop for families, adventurers, or anyone looking to enjoy the beauty of Cape Breton’s coast.
Perched high on a cliff in Ingonish Beach, Keltic Lodge is one of Cape Breton’s most iconic resorts. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean on three sides and backed by the Cape Breton Highlands, it offers unforgettable scenery and a true east-coast experience. Opened in 1940, the lodge has welcomed guests from around the world with its charming rooms, fine dining, live music, and warm Maritime hospitality. Visitors can enjoy nearby hiking trails, boat tours, whale watching, and some of the best golf in Canada at the famous Highlands Links Golf Course. Whether you’re looking for a luxury stay, a romantic getaway, or simply to enjoy the view, Keltic Lodge is a must-see destination on the Cabot Trail.
Lake’s Head is a scenic viewpoint along the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Green Cove is a small but stunning stop along the Cabot Trail, inside Cape Breton Highlands National Park. A short, easy trail leads visitors out onto a rocky headland that juts into the Atlantic Ocean. From the viewpoint, you’ll see sweeping coastal cliffs, crashing waves, and endless ocean views—a perfect spot for photos or just to pause and take in Cape Breton’s rugged beauty. It’s especially magical at sunrise and sunset, when the light glows across the water. Good experience. Great value.
This was a wonderful tour. We were picked up right at the dock. The vehicle only held seven people max. We only had six, which made it a nice intimate group. Our driver/tour guide, Gary, was very informative. He took us places that we would not have seen otherwise, stopped anytime we asked them to, and provided an absolutely stunning tour. We took the tour to see the vibrant colors of autumn. Gary made sure that we had plenty of time to visit the sites and take pictures. At this time of the year it was a stunning sight We highly recommend this tour and the small company that provided it.
The tour was very good, except the vehicle was too small for the number of people - there were 6 plus the driver in an SUV for a 5 or 6 hour tour. Not very comfortable (stuffed in like sardines) and visibility limited.
some interesting sights but a lot of driving and not always the right amount of time at some places. The driver was Indian - a little hard to understand at times.
We were 2 of 6 passengers in a comfortably-sized vehicle. So, the risk is, it's an intimate space to be with people you don't know, BUT, you end up getting to know each other, and it was a pleasant experience for us. That said, someone did have bad breath, and it was a bit of a shock when we first got into the car for me. As for the experience on the Cabot Trail, it was STUNNING, and our guide took us to AMAZING locations and our pictures and encounters were more breathtaking than I'd even anticipated! I am VERY thankful we chose to do this for our day at port!
Our tour guide was very friendly, outgoing and knowledgeable of the area-we enjoyed it tremendously, would recommend
The countryside is absolutely stunning. Our guide was extremely informative and helpful. Maybe a little too long in between stops.
Lovely scenery and natural beauty. Our guide was great and showed us beautiful places. Would definitely recommend
We enjoyed the tour. At times it was hard to understand the tour guide because of his accent. He was polite and accommodating.
We had a problem with the tour company that we had booked with originally. They failed to pick us up but the person at our motel was able to provide us another option. I’m so glad we were able to connect with them on such short notice
Great communication before the tour. Comfortable vehicle and a courteous and knowledgeable guide. It was a rainy day, but we still had a good time!
City Hearts Tours should be ashamed- putting 6 adults plus the driver in a minivan for a 6 hour day! Our guide Muhammad, was friendly, a good driver, and caring! We had a few stops on the way at viewing areas, lunch at a nice restaurant but on the return to the ship it was a non stop forced march.
The whole experience was amazing as our guide was very nice and polite.
City Heart Tours gave us an amazing introduction to Cape Breton. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable, the vehicle was clean and comfortable, and every stop was breathtaking. Highly recommend if you want an authentic, stress-free local tour
local tour guide and the heart behind City Heart Tours in beautiful Sydney, Nova Scotia! With a deep passion for storytelling and a love for this charming coastal town I’ll share with you not just the sights, but the soul of the city—its people, culture, and hidden corners. Tours are relaxed, friendly, and full of authentic local insight. Come as a guest, leave as a friend. Let’s make your time in Cape Breton unforgettable—one story and one heartwarming moment at a time.. Driver is very professional and polite. He makes our journey stress free.
Our guide Ahmed was very informative. He answered all of our questions and left it up to us to decide which stops to omit. If we stopped everywhere we would not have made it back to the ship on time. The best two scenic stops were the last two. We skipped the shopping, saw all the scenic stops and had a wonderful lobster roll for lunch. There were two others on our tour and luckily we all agreed on everything. It was a lovely day, weather was terrific and overlooks were beautiful. A lot of car time but that couldn’t be avoided.
Nice long tour to see a good portion of the Cabot Trail. Our tour guide was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, and the tour company was communicative and provided information about where to meet the guide. The bus was comfortable and convenient, and we saw many of the highlights we were hoping to see. Lunch is not included but we stopped at a casual but nice restaurant along the way that was recommended by the tour guide ("Main Street Restaurant" in Ingonish Beach), and I think they knew we were coming as they were quick and prepared for our group (there were about 22 of us on the tour). They had great local food. The tour itself stopped at many of the highlights we were hoping to see. Ingonish Beach and the Green Cove Trailhead were especially cool. The tour guide had a ton of history to share and was personal and friendly. We'd definitely recommend this tour to others!
Kulveen did an excellent job of showing Cabot Trail and the sites. Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate because of the fog but eventually we got great pictures. Thank you. Would highly recommend this tour.
A small group experience was worth the $. This is a special once in a lifetime drive of beauty and you want the intimate experience with flexibility of a small group to take photos and take it all in.
This is our first time in Sydney, NC. Our tour guide is Jassinder Singh (Jesse) who is a dedicated guide and driver. Our family enjoyed the sight and scenery-seeing trip up Cabot trail and appreciated Jesse’s patience and effort on the job. Being relatively new to the island, Jesse can definitely grow in his narration of the sights and places that we visited along the trail. At those look out points he was more of a driver and picture taking assistant than a tour guide currently. Another point of improvement is his driving habits in general; we observed him fighting sleepiness along the windy road, tailgating a few cars in front and occasionally replying to texts/phone messages while driving. Safe driving habits can be improved for future guests who would otherwise enjoy his overall charm and helpfulness.
It was great experience. The trip was organised well from start to end. Met good people. Valuable experience
Had an amazing experience traveling with this company. Everything was well organized, and the staff was very friendly. Highly recommend!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Experience! Had a wonderful time exploring the Cabot Trail, Ingonish Beach, and Green Cove. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, with stunning coastal views and beautiful landscapes throughout the trip. The stops were well chosen and provided plenty of opportunities for photos and sightseeing. A perfect tour for anyone wanting to experience the natural beauty of Cape Breton. Highly recommended!
Had an amazing experience with our tour guide. Very friendly, knowledgeable, and made the trip enjoyable. Highly recommended.
It was an excellent tour of amazing scenic view points of mountain and ocean
The dialect of the tour guide was difficult to understand. While he was very pleasant and accommodating, it was not a good experience. We cut it short. I believe all Heart Tour guides are from a different culture - not Nova Scotia locals.
Our driver was a bit difficult to understand as he had the accent of his native India. Although him to be engaging and knowledge of the most wonderful sights. The places that he had for a lunch and snack spot were not open for the season. I thought he should have known this ahead of time. I would recommend this tour
We had a great tour with Jas. The weather was sunny and windy. He is very accommodating to what we want to do. Thank you.
This company canceled the tour as we disembark from the cruise ship. We were literally supposed to be getting on the bus when they first notified us. Many of us don’t really have good Wi-Fi on a ship setting so it was especially confusing as they issued a refund, but we had not asked for one. We were able to book something with another local tour. Needless to say myself, and the people who had been booked were very disappointed.
We were left stranded at the meeting point. We arrived to the meeting point early - the tour did not show up. After the meeting time, we finally got a message that they canceled. Apparently they had difficulty with a government inspection, that all the other tours made it through in time to pick up their clients.
They didn't show up. Was told by another tour guide they weren't coming. Booked with him. Refund email showed up after arriving for excursion.
I had a wonderful time riding along the Cabot Trail. I was the only on on the tour that day so I had a personalized visit with a great guide who stopped at every single view point and patiently waited for me to take my pictures. Some of the shops were closed as it was the end of the season but I was able to visit some of them. Overall it was a great experience, landscapes were absolutely stunning!
Amazing, and Amazing cabot trail tour , with all awesome stops with awesome guide ,thanks a lot KV to make this all with in time ..
Fall colors on this trail was absolutely breathtaking! Our diver was prompt waiting for us dockside and was flexible for us to enjoy! We never worried about being on time for our scheduled departure of our cruise ship!
Wonderful private tour. KV was our guide, and he was great! He was intent on showing us the best places and most beautiful scenic views! My husband and I were the only ones on the tour, so we could see so much more than a normal tour. Highly recommend!
Visiting this beach and trail was an unforgettable experience! The scenery was absolutely breathtaking — crystal-clear water, soft golden sand, and lush greenery along the trail. The walking path was well-maintained and offered stunning ocean views at every turn. I loved how peaceful and clean the area was, making it perfect for relaxation or photography. The gentle breeze and sound of waves created such a calming atmosphere. It’s ideal for both adventure seekers and those looking to unwind. I especially appreciated the easy access and friendly locals. Truly a hidden gem — I can’t wait to visit again!
I had an amazing experience with City Heart Tours on the Cabot Trail, Ingonish Beach & Green Cove Adventure! The views were breathtaking — especially at Ingonish Beach and Green Cove — and the whole trip was very well-paced. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day fun and comfortable.
Our tour guide Kulveer was friendly and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our interaction and the sights were amazing.
Overall a pleasant experience and beautiful scenery. The car was able to seat 4 average sized passengers. Had adequate time at stops. Minimal history provided but driver was pleasant, tried to answer all our questions.
Our day exploring the Cabot Trail with City Heart Tours was nothing short of unforgettable. The combination of breathtaking landscapes, well-planned stops, and insightful guiding made this adventure one of the highlights of our Cape Breton visit.
Our guide did a great job. He helped us to have the best day possible coming from our cruise. If you are considering this it is well worth it and they will make sure that you are back on time. The sights are amazing!
Very good tour with alot of scenic views and drives never seen some of the scenes like that enjoyed the day well love this part of canada too beautiful to watch must visit this place
“The Cabot Trail tour was amazing from start to finish. Our guide went above and beyond—sharing history, culture, and fun local insights that brought the area to life. The tour was well organized, comfortable, and perfectly paced. I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Cape Breton.”
I had an amazing experience touring the Cabot Trail! The guide made the journey truly memorable with great knowledge, friendly personality, and perfect pacing of the trip. We stopped at beautiful places including Englishtown, the stunning Keltic Lodge, and the breathtaking Green Cove Trail. Each stop was well explained, and I learned so much about the history and culture of the area while enjoying the natural beauty.
Picked up on time at the ship and brought back again. Small group and great friendly driver.
Small group, max. 6 people per vehicle and driver. Generous seat spacing, friendly driver who also explains a lot. Vehicle clean. I'm fine. Highly recommended. Thank you for that.
