The tour was cancelled with only one day’s notice due to “insufficient passengers”. This made it too late for booking many of the alternative excursions that might have been considered. Communication of the cancellation was very good, using text message, email, and a phone call/message.

We were scheduled to be in Sydney as a cruise stop on Celebrity Silhouette on Oct 12. But due to weather we were unable to get into this port. We were informed of that decision by the Captain about an hour before we were to disembark. We had a tour of the Cabot Trail booked for eight people that morning. When we called this company to let them know we wouldn’t be there, they were already aware of the change and they refunded our full amount of the tour. We were certainly not expecting that especially with such short notice. Even though we weren’t able to actually use their service I would 100% book an excursion with them if we return to Sydney just based on their customer service.
The transportation was good. Easy to get in and out of. The scenery was beautiful. It was a quite a bit of riding but the driver was very informative.
Great tour. Easy to find our guide, he explained the history and took us along the amazing Cabot trail. One change I would have liked, instead of doing lunch as a group, I would have liked to pass on lunch and go to Bell Museum. We did nit have time for the Bell museum.
Trip too long (6 hours plus) Couldn’t hear driver who was advised at first stop but said couldn’t do anything about it. Bus uncomfortable on back seat, sat on top of a wheel arch (only suitable for a toddler) Only a single stop in whole trip where lunch or drinks could be purchased (but not eaten) and only 2 where restrooms were available. End destination of trip was a boarded up, closed hotel where we turned around and drove the whole way back on same road.
A beautiful drive the gallery colors were breathtaking. Tom took us on a an interesting drive. We got to experience many places larger tours would never see. The little ferry, waterfalls, chocolate shop. Highly recommend this tour our 10 year old enjoyed it as well. Suggest you pack a lunch if bringing kiddos as opinions are limited to sandwiches at a small shop.
Tom was a great guide. Took us to nice places for pictures. Stopped at the cafe to get a sandwich to go and eat while driving. Chocolate shop was a nice stop on the way back.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Cabot Trail excursion. We were able to see such beautiful colors of fall all along the road. The guide facilitated the viewing and stopped at the right points. He had great local stories.
Our driver enjoyed talking but mostly about himself. He was nice but we really wanted more info about the area. The van was old and the seat we were on felt like it was going to come lose on every corner.
Terri was knowledgeable about the area. Had great stories. The views were amazing. Be prepared as soon of the roads are bumpy so if you have back problems be forewarned.
Great day with Ted! Nice small tour (8 of us). Made several interesting stops and got some great photos. If you go better take some food and drink with you. We made one stop at a nice little cafe that sold pastries and coffee after 90 minutes- that was it for the other 4+ hours, other than photo ops all the way up to Green Cove. Really enjoyed the day!
We had an absolutely wonderful tour! The experience was made more enjoyable by our fantastic driver, Tom. He shared interesting stories and information about the area and gave us plenty of opportunities to stop and take pictures. We highly recommend this tour and especially Tom!
A fantastic trip and a great way to see the area. The guide (Tom) was extremely knowledgable and great company. Really enjoyable…
The van was small our family took back seat because that’s what was left. It’s a good thing we were family because we were packed in and touching. The worst part was the guided didn’t step up when my husband got car sick. He asked if the person in the front would switch and they said no. The guide didn’t make the other passenger move and didn’t offer for someone to pick my husband up or call his supervisor. My husband proceeded to throw up for 2 straight hours . The whole trip is just made up stops on winding roads. Nothing really interesting to see and the guide was not very interesting or knowledgeable. Do not recommend.
Gary was absolutely delightful! He really loves his homeland and that makes him a perfect guide. Very friendly and wanted us to have the best time possible.
I highly recommend this tour! Our driver, Gary, was wonderful, truly delightful and very kind! A local that definitely knows and loves his home. Our group had never been to the area and Gary took us to several beautiful stops and helped us make the most of our time in port without ever feeling rushed! Made sure we got the lobster lunch we were looking for and got us back to our ship safely. It was an amazing day, money well spent!
We were met by our tour guide Bo, and the tour started on schedule. He was very detailed and informative. Bo has the perfect personality for his job. Bo took us to all the advertised sights and more. We couldn't have had a better time. I highly recommend this tour even coming off a cruise ship.
We had an awesome trip! The tour guide,Gary, was very accommodating and knowledgeable, also super personable.
We enjoyed a VIP tour with Gary and saw all the special spots from Sydney to the Cabot Trail, including frequent stops for excellent views and pic opportunities. Thanks for a great tour!
Trip was a little quiet but if u want to see the landscape of Nova Scotia then this is the trip for that. We were too early for the fall colours. Driver was excellent and he made a stop at anything he could show us. Bus was comfortable.
Great local guide and interesting itinerary. Good stops on the way with time for comfort she lunch breaks
Tom was our driver and he was very good at pointing out points of interest along the way and stopping for pictures and stretching of legs.
We had a wonderful experience going on a tour of Cabot Trail. How tour guide, Tom McDonald was absolutely the best! He was very knowledgeable about the place and so interesting to listen too. He gave us lots of photo opportunities and memories. Thank you Tom for a wonderful day!
Thanks Tom for a great day! Very knowledgeable about the area, courteous and fun.
We just didn’t have enough time. Spent most of it driving. What we did get to see was beautiful but I wanted more time out of the vehicle. Tom was great, however it was boring.
Was just okay. Bus driver doubled as the guide so it was not the best. A lot of 'get out, take a picture, move on' without much information.
Great tour guide. Enjoyable day off the ship. Good way to see Cabot Trail. Beautiful scenery. Eagle sighting
It’s a quick view of Cabot’s Trail, would love to come back and spend more time exploring it. Our guide did a great job of showing us as much as he could in the time we had, took us to great picture shots.
This tour was about 8 hours on the Cabot trail. Tom MacDonald is a very experienced guide who did not rush us at any stop and made sure we were back at the cruise ship in plenty of time for departure. Beautiful scenery on Cabot Trail.
An amazing day! We saw a lot and so enjoyed Tom, our guide. He made the most of our time and was mindful of our interest and the return time to the ship.
Beautiful scenery. There was a large variety of things to experience from beaches, to unusual rock formations and more
We had the absolute best day with Tom, our guide. We saw so much of the Cabot Trail and learned a lot about Sydney. Tom was knowledgeable, safe and an all around good guy.
Tom was a fantastic driver and guide, and we really enjoyed this tour out along the Cabot Trail all of the way to Ingonish Beach. The scenery was breathtaking and tom was great about stopping along the way so we could stretch and take photos.
It was cancelled for lack of participation. Viator did not give me alternatives. We found alternative on our own online the night before. It was Highland Tours which coordinates with Viator , but Viator never gave us this option????
The tour was exactly as described. The driver/guide is a local and was very courteous. He shared interesting local information. It was a small group - 8 people in a van. The views were pretty. It was not a spectacular experience but was a good way to spend a nice sunny day visiting a small part of a famous sight.
Tour cancelled the night before arrival, after texting to ask what ship we were arriving on and what time. We were unable to secure an alternate tour to Cabot Trail by that time. Very disappointed.
We were very disappointed and unimpressed with this tour. Very little to see. The stops were not impressive, nothing unique and nothing to write home about. Our Tour guide Tom, seemed knowledgable, but very boring. This tour was not worth the money we paid. The tour should include a full loop of Cape Breton (both sides) instead of going up one side and returning the same way we came, we essentially saw all the same sites twice.
Had a crying baby in the small bus. Also our guide didn't stop for lunch until we made him around 3:00. He said a restaurant would take too long but he didn't even stop at a grab and go.
Tom was okay, but about half the trip he just didn’t talk. Our baby was crying on and off so I get that he can’t talk over that but he didn’t try to talk between him crying at all. It felt like we didn’t actually do anything. We drove all the way back for 2 hours with no stops. We heard maybe 2 stories and learned a few facts but nothing really exciting. At least it was beautiful.
Underwhelming, despite previous good reviews. Some good scenic views but otherwise nothing of interest. Stops were either picture points or a beach. We were supposed to be out until 7:30 pm but without discussion with the group Tom choose to bring us back early so one couple could make a 6:30 diner booking. As it turns out we were glad to be back! Lunch stop was not until after 3pm and mid morning stop for a drink was in a cafe so busy that the queue extended out the door! After lunch we boarded to total silence. Not a welcome back nothing and our driver did not speak again for at least 40 minutes. I would not recommend this trip.
We booked a tour for our group of 28 people, and it was a hit. Every single guest thoroughly enjoyed the tour — great guide service, beautiful sights, and an all‑around fantastic experience. We will be back again next year with a new group of guests. Thanks for the outstanding service!
That was an amazing trip, me and my husband really enjoyed the Cabot Trail trip. Professional guide and nice price.
What an Amazing trip! Stunning sights and beautiful nature. Especially nice driver and professional tour guide, very helpful and very friendly people! A life time experience and touching memory!
Wonderful trip on Cabot Trail!Tom was really knowledgeable about this area and this company organizes tours really well. Easy to meet up and got back on time. We really recommend this company!
There weren't a lot of options for this area so we felt lucky to find a "small group tour" that was only suppose to be 14 people. Due to a broken down bus, our tour was combined with another one so we ended up on one big full bus tour. The scenery was spectacular and the guide was great (when you could hear him) but getting over 40 senior citizens off and on a bus at each stop took a lot of time. They did buy us a "free" ice cream cone for the inconvenience which was a nice gesture but I really was looking forward to a more intimate tour where the conversation can be heard more easily. The other snafu is that since it was an all day tour, they typically stop at this cute little place for lunch but given the situation, this cute little place got 40 people dropped off instead of 14 so they weren't prepared with enough food so we kind of just got what was left by the end of the line. Luckily, the food wasn't the important part....our tour wasn't cancelled and we still got to see beautiful Sydney, Nova Scotia with all of the fall colors!
It was one of the most amazing excursion. Our driver/guide BOB was a local from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, his experience was unmatched! He was so lively and informative. He knew all the back roads so that we were never in competition with other tours, nor stuck in traffic. It was our luck that the cruise line was booked up on this popular excursion. So I had to research to find which outside tour would offer the same excursion (The Cabot Trail). It turned out that it was better priced than the other tour companies. The views he lead us to breath taking. I can tell you in the future we will be using Viator in the future. They were punctual picking us up and dropping us off.
This was a wonderful tour of the beautiful Cabot Trail. The fall color was spectacular, even on a cloudy day. The Atlantic coastline is impressive. Our guide/driver, Bob, was absolutely wonderful. Having been born and raised on Cape Breton he knew so much information about the area. He was very congenial, and also a very good driver. He made sure we stayed on time to get back to our cruise ship - allowing for road construction delays along the way.
Experienced driver and tour guide who showed and talked to us about all the sights and foliage along the way.
This small group tour along the Cabot Trail was spectacular! Our guide and driver Bob was AMAZING! He was so knowledgeable of all of the history around the area and had many interesting stories to tell us along our drive. He knew the best places to stop along the way to get great pictures of the beautiful colorful trees! He even had a great cafe for us to stop and get sandwiches and treats for lunch. He also took us to see lobster traps and boats in the harbor. He explained how the traps worked as well. I highly recommend Bannock Tours for this excursion.
The sites were absolutely stunning! A must do in fall! Tom was an awesome tour guide and knew all the right spots to stop!
