Our trip around Nosy Be was absolutely amazing! We had a friendly and knowledgeable guide who spontaneously shared lots of interesting stories and information about the country throughout the day. Our driver was also very pleasant and drove safely. The car was comfortable and had air conditioning, which made the journey even more enjoyable. We visited many beautiful places throughout the day. Lemuria land was definitely worth it, especially being able to feed the lemurs and even have them sit on your shoulders! The waterfall was beautiful, and we were allowed to swim there, which was a great experience. Hell-Ville was very busy on Monday, with quite a lot of traffic, and the local market was nice to visit but busy, although nothing particularly special. Lunch at the beach was one of the highlights of the day. We had a dilicious meal at a beautiful, upscale beachfront restaurant and enjoyed 2.5 hours of free time to swim, sunbathe and relax on the beach. We ended the day at Mont Passot, where we enjoyed a stunning sunset and breathtaking views. It was quite crowded with other tourists, but the scenery was still worth it. Overall, this was a well organized day trip with a great itinerary, friendly staff, and plenty of memorable experiences. We 100% recommend it and would do it all over again.

Visit the Local Markets of Hell-Ville! The markets of Hell-Ville, Nosy Be offer an authentic immersion in Malagasy culture, among bright colors, exotic scents and animated bargaining. This is the place where the local people get their supplies! The Indoor Market (Tsena Mora) is a riot of fresh produce, spices and local crafts, while the Outdoor Market (Tsena Ambony) enchants with traditional clothes, fabrics and objects. Bargaining is a must, cash is needed (euro or ariary, the local currency) and respect for local culture is paramount. The market tour is an unforgettable experience to discover the soul of Nosy Be.
Holy Tree by Nosy Be. The sacred tree of Nosy Be, located in the heart of the island, is a place rich in history and cultural significance. It is an imposing banyan tree whose aerial roots form an intricate structure reminiscent of a cathedral. Its history is linked to local traditions and animist beliefs. During the visit, you can admire its impressive size and discover the stories and legends related to this sacred place. The sacred tree of Nosy Be was planted by the queen of the Sakalava tribe in 1836. Even today, the queen of Nosy Be makes a pilgrimage every year to sacrifice a zebu and receive the blessing of the ancestors. Before approaching the tree, you must take off your shoes and, if you have bare legs, you must wear a pareo.
The Sacred Waterfall by Nosy Be. Nestled in the heart of a lush forest, the sacred waterfall of Nosy Be is a place of extraordinary beauty and spirituality. Its crystal clear waters form a natural pool, creating an oasis of peace and coolness in which you can immerse yourself. But the waterfall is much more than just a natural spectacle: it is a sacred place for the local population, who consider it a symbol of power and protection. During our tour, you will have the opportunity to discover the history and legends related to this magical place, and immerse yourself in its mystical atmosphere.
Experience Andilana Beach, the most beautiful in Nosy Be. After a morning exploring the wonders of Nosy Be, take a break from pure relaxation on the beautiful beach of Andilana. Here you can enjoy a delicious lunch of fresh fish and local specialties, prepared with genuine ingredients and authentic flavors. After lunch, indulge in some idyllic relaxation, sunbathing on the fine white sand, or taking a dip in the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Let yourself be lulled by the sound of the waves and the sea breeze. Give your body and mind an unforgettable experience of taste and relaxation in the heavenly setting of Andilana! If you have already been to Andilana and want something different, you can try one of the local restaurants in the town of Hell-Ville. Here you will find traditional dishes such as romazava, stewed vegetables and meat, or ravitoto, with cassava leaves and pork. Alternatively, relax at the hotel and then leave!
Our last stop will be Mont Passot, a magical place where nature reveals itself in all its magnificence. Mont Passot, located in the northern part of Nosy Be, is the highest point of the island and offers a 360-degree panoramic view that takes your breath away. From here you can admire the nearby islands, such as Nosy Komba and Nosy Tanikely, and the immensity of the Indian Ocean that stretches to the horizon. The mountain is surrounded by eight volcanic lakes, considered sacred by the local population, which add a touch of mystery and spirituality to the landscape. We will finally admire the spectacular sunset. The sun, dyeing the sky a thousand colors, will blend with the immensity of the Indian Ocean, giving you a breathtaking panorama that will remain forever etched in your memory. There is no better end to this experience!

I had only a few days in Nosy be and wasn't sure if I could organise a tour with short notice but this tour came through and I must say I have zero issues. Yonnis and driver were early, super friendly, insightful, and the day was more than I hoped for. If English is your only language then this is the tour for you. Many thanks with a high recommendation.
A great shore excursion to see Nosy Be. Our guide Eunis was very interesting and personable. He told us a lot about Madagascar and life in Nosy Be and showed us all the main sites including a beautiful beach, where we enjoyed a nice cocktail in the sun. Our driver Dino was also excellent. Communication prior to the day was good and clear and it was easy to find the tour operator once we disembarked the ship. Overall a very good day and I would thoroughly recommend this tour for cruise ship clients who want a personal experience and of course don’t want to pay exorbitant ship tour prices!!
Five signed up, so the two couples and I were sent off separately in 3 tuk tuks. My driver guide took me to the sacred tree, a beach at the far end of the island, and up to the mountain lookout where great views. Back to the market where he found an awesome buy of local vanilla beans. Mario was awesome!
We did this tour from our cruise ship. Although we tendered off the island our meeting instructions were clear and it was easy to find our guide who unfortunately had to wait for over an hour for us as immigration were very slow to allow us to depart the ship. The tour was very interesting. We got a really good picture of life on Nosy Be and saw some beautiful and interesting things. Our guide Eunis was very personable and told us much about life in Madagascar. He was a really lovely, intelligent young man who had worked hard to better himself and we wish him well for the future. Our driver Dino was also excellent. I thoroughly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Nosy Be for the day.
We received a message with good details on how to meet Mada Tours outside the “terminal” gate. Note: there isn’t a traditional terminal “building” for passengers. After we found our “greeter,” he walked with us to a nearby street with dozens of tuk-tuks and private vehicles for hire. It seemed chaotic but eventually we were introduced to our guide and our driver for the day.
MadaDays had several private tours booked from our cruise ship, and all seemed to go smoothly. Our guide was a college-educated guide who works in the travel industry and does guide work part-time. He was kind and knowledgeable. The tour was well designed and we saw a lot of the island and its important sites. The scenic vistas and the beaches were impressive. We had a nice lunch were they accepted a credit card. The roads are in excellent condition but narrow and crowded in many parts of the island. Our driver was highly skilled and we felt extremely safe in his hands.
We booked a private shore excursion through Across Africa (agent) with Madadays (provider). It was a a faultless friendly day, from pickup at the port, to the Holy Tree (Wear sturdy shoes for this visit). and various scenic stops at beaches and Mont Passot lookout. The fresh seafood lunch was simple and delicious, with bonus fruit dessert and the owner's pineapple rum (Good price but pay in cash or Euro). The afternoon visit with the lemurs at Lemurialand and its perfume distillery was fascinating. Our guide Bristow (?) could not have been more helpful, telling us about his personal life and the difficulties for youth to step up from the frugal economy and conditions. I highly recommend this private tour, with the Lemurialand extension.
Both Gabriel, our guide, and the designated driver were extremely helpful in explaining the culture, politics, populations, and geological aspects of Nosy-be and Madagascar as a whole. Both were friendly, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to explore with throughout the tour.
Nosy Be is very poor. Attractions are at a minimum. Tour vendors are everywhere but very expensive. The Holy Tree is just that, a tree in the middle of nowhere. The waterfall is not accessible due to roadwork. View from the mountain was great but getting there on narrow winding roads is no fun. At least there were facilities. Public beaches have no shade and are full of vendors. You have to pay for a beach lounger at a restaurant.
We had one day in Nosy Be and this was the best way to spend it. Our guide, Gaston, was simply the BEST! He taught us so much about the people, food, animals, plants, and culture of the Malagasy. We highly recommend this tour!!
Excellent guide and driver. Enjoyed very much.. Order of stops changed from description. Due to ship's late arrival did not get to sacred tree or waterfall. Stopped at market briefly at end of tour, but by then it was dark and market had no lights.
Car had no AC. Guide was nice but could have been more presentable. Dress code could have been better.
Great tour of Nosy Be! Guide and driver were both excellent. Saw all the sights and then some. Highly recommend this tour!
You will get a nice and interessting Little view to Nosy Be. We had Joris as our Guide - he was perfect. He knows a lot and explains everything very well. Our Highlight was to See the lemurs!
I had an amazing experience touring Nosy Be with Theo as my private guide! He managed to organize everything I wanted to see in a very short time, and the tour couldn’t have been better. From start to finish, everything was smooth, well-planned, and tailored perfectly to my interests.
My wife and I, along with another couple, thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Nosy Be. Our guide, Theo, was fantastic. We’d recommend this to anyone!
Our guide Joe was excellent! He was extremely personable. My sister and I booked a private tour, and Joe made whatever stops we requested, like going to an ATM that didn’t have a long line. He was very knowledgeable about the history and beliefs of the sacred areas that we visited - the sacred banyan tree and the sacred waterfall. He also told us more about Madagascar and Nosy Be; we learned a lot about the animist beliefs. It was a very good introduction to Nosy Be - I highly recommend the tour.
A wonderful day with the guide Jonas, we toured fun spots on the island in the market, at the Andilina beach, at the crazy observation point, and at the waterfall. It was a fun day, the guide and the driver were very nice, patient, and the day was precise. The connection with the tour company is excellent, I received all the details before the trip and everything was arranged. Highly recommend ordering through you.
A wonderful day and the amazing guide Younes! A patient young man with a lot of knowledge and very nice. The stops were really good, the market, the waterfall, Andelina beach, and the viewpoint was amazing, we liked the Holy Tree less. In our opinion, it was unnecessary, but it's a matter of taste. The connection with the travel company is excellent. We received all possible information, and I recommend you travel with them. Thank you
My wife and I chose Madadays for our excursions in Nosy Be and we had a great time! We were able to choose what to see and when, we were provided with the details of each trip and advised on the clothing and the most suitable things to bring. All the guides and drivers were punctual and precise. Every time we were provided with bottled water and for full-day excursions, we also received a hearty lunch. Some excursions were shared in a small group with other tourists, while in others, it was just the two of us! A special mention to Adonis, a guide who accompanied us on two excursions and is truly a fantastic person! Kind, knowledgeable, he always made us feel safe, and chatting with him was a true cultural exchange! Thanks again to the entire team, we recommend Madadays to tourists of any nationality who want to visit Nosy Be and the nearby islands. Michele and Daniela.
Discovering Nosy Be Hell City
Our guide Jean Brusto was wonderful. He introduced us to his culture, his music, and some truly different places. We visited the sacred tree, Mount Passo, Lemuria Land, and the beach where we were able to take a short swim. Very pleasant outing.
Beautiful visit nosy be with Jeep Cascade Albert
Our guide Crisy and his driver drove us safely and informatively about the island, imparted a lot of knowledge and also told us about the country and people and life there. The recommended beach restaurant was very good and priced very ok.
Travel not started due to illness, could not cancel 24 hours before due to internet problems. Nevertheless, the local organizer has refunded 50% of the tour price. Nice contact - highly recommended!
I recommend this really fantastic experience the super friendly and helpful guide. Discovering the whole town of nosy be was great
Trip with excursions with madadays, it was a unique and wonderful experience. A very kind and prepared staff, they speak perfect Italian. Francesco was always present to please us, Alberto our guide always kind to make himself available. However we highly recommend it.
Quick answers, maximum availability for customizing excursions, reliable, honest, excellent choice of local guides and above all, a lot of professionalism. We would add that, due to health reasons, we were forced to change the calendar the day before for the next day and they gave us maximum flexibility without any pressure. Finally, speaking of the price, if you do the complete package you save even more than dealing directly with the beach boys having all the amenities of a serious group. Simone and Giorgia Nosy Be - September 2025
A way to get to know Nosy Be beyond the beaches. The sacred tree is fascinating, the waterfall is pretty. Very exciting sunset from the top of the mountain with beautiful views. Nice market and relaxing stop at the beach of Andilana, panoramic and suitable for a swim
We were on a boat to Komba and Nosy Tanikely and had a wonderful tour of the interior with the very nice Vanessa. All ok, punctual, serious, helpful and recommendable from every point of view. Antonio
The tour was very well accompanied and we always had enough time to see everything in peace. Unlike the tours organized by the shipping company, we were even allowed to feed the lemurs. We can highly recommend the tour!
Lokobe park tour organized very well. Pick up from our hotel with return always by car. Then a beautiful crossing by pirogue, the visit of the park and a great lunch! The park guide was very kind, he made us discover many animals (chameleons, geckos and snakes!) and accompanied us on the walk. The other escorts (driver and local guide) nice, but there was not much communication. We would have appreciated some more information to avoid being assaulted after the canoe to wash your feet on the sand. But otherwise everything went great.
I recommend everyone to go hiking with them, organized excursions very well pick you up where you stay and take you back follow you everywhere and for the duration of the excursion you always have drinks available (water and coke) local guides who speak in Italian and tell you everything in detail. Prices are good with the possibility to contact them already from Italy so you get an idea about all the excursions available with all the explanations of what you are going to do. Online payment without portal extra money from Italy
Friendly and competent staff, they follow you throughout and explain many things, we did three tours with them and everything was perfect.
Fantastic tours, the top! I advise. Francesco and Gerald supee nice and friendly. Definitely worth repeating, obviously with MadaDays. The NoseBe tour is magnificent for discovering the local culture
