We had wonderful stay at Lagarta Lodge! The roads did not make it easy for us but it was worth it when we arrived. Our kids loved the pool which came in handy when they would wake up at 6am. And breakfast was delicious. Every morning we ate at the deck watching the ocean counting how many geckos we could find. The location is a little less than ideal so highly recommend renting a car but it's about 10-15 mins away from restaurants and beaches so everything was close by. We'd love to come back again!
We had a wonderful stay at Lagarta Lodge and highly recommend it. The service was top notch - especially Rodrigo and Daniel at reception and Maria at the restaurant. We stayed as a family of 4 and the suite was surprisingly very large so that it felt we had our own small villa. The property’s location is remote just enough to feel secluded and tranquil with a short drive to town. It is very well-maintained with so many options for adventures or spa services and nightly Howler monkey and other Costa Rican wildlife sightings. But nothing beats sitting in one of the three infinity pools just taking in the views - truly breathtaking!

The staff were all amazing! The view from our room was spectacular. I love how peaceful and beautiful the scenery was during all of our excursions. Our tour guides were very informative and friendly. I’ve also never had such a big breakfast spread with a variety of options to choose from. I loved staying at this hotel.
A beautiful and extremely tasteful resort that blends luxurious touches and natural elements. It feels very nice but is not at all stuffy. The service is what stood out and made our experience so wonderful, Daniel was so friendly, accommodating, and went the extra Mile for our large party of 9. He helped coordinate early breakfasts for our early morning departures, helped us organize transportation, and even added thoughtful touches like putting balloons in our room for our birthdays!
The food at the lodge is excellent!! The service was superb and they were extremely accommodating to the palates of some of the kids in our group who were picky eaters.
The facilities are beautiful, well kept, and really allow you to enjoy the nature. We saw monkeys, many birds, and other Costa Rican critters from right outside our window. We enjoyed laying in the hammock and hearing the sounds of the ocean so close by. We especially enjoyed that they provided a French press with local coffee grounds to prepare a delicious cup of coffee to enjoy on the room balconies in the mornings.
The only drawback is the location is quite remote, so it requires booking transportation to and from the lodge. They do provide a shuttle to town at some cadence but if you prefer to come and go as you please, it may not be the right spot. It was not too much of a problem for our group as we enjoyed walking down to the beach and relaxing by the pool.

We LOVED our stay here. The staff is absolutely phenomenal. The rooms are huge and clean. The view from anywhere on the property is breathtaking. We especially loved enjoying the view from the hammock on our balcony. The hotel faces an untouched miles-long strip of coastline and we would just sit, mesmerized by the waves rolling in hour after hour. It also faces its own wildlife reserve and a river coming to meet the ocean. We saw so much wildlife just from the hotel grounds... monkeys, coatis, iguanas, bats... and a magical evening routine of birds following the river to the sea at sunset. Locals and other tourists visit this hotel just to explore the reserve and/or enjoy the view, so it's a treat to spend multiple days here and take it all in. The food is delicious. The pools have the most relaxing vibe, with varying temperatures in each one to choose from, and are delightfully quiet, with just the sounds of nature surrounding you. We made use of the shuttle to get to and from the beach. Although the hotel came highly recommended to us by friends, we were still unsure if it would feel too far away from everything, but its seclusion ended up being what made it so magical. And yet town was still just a quick jaunt down the hill. Oh and the drink they give you upon arrival is mouthwatering. We will absolutely be coming back! Highly recommend!!
