On arrival we were quite excited as it was a long journey from Salisbury and from outside the lodge looked amazing, and bear in mind we booked this back in July based on its 4-star status and the photos of the standard double room at £149 per night that were online as advertised, However, on entering room 11 we felt we had been miss sold and been given s staff quarters we were appalled at the state of the room. Whilst the rest of the property reflects the 4-star status this particular room did not, having spoken to the receptionist there was no other rooms that she could offer, had we had time we would have looked for alternative accommodation as it was we had to take the room. I did ask to speak to the owners but alas they either didn’t get the message or perhaps wanted to avoid the issue. Also the service at breakfast was not 4 star either we waited half an hour for our drinks and breakfast, the toast came out almost immediately however was cold by the time the breakfast arrived we also had to ask twice for sauces. Regarding the breakfast itself it was nice apart from the tomato which had clearly not been cooked at all it could quite easily been used in a salad and the bacon which was clearly well over done. All in all a disappointing nobody wants bad reviews however I feel that this negative review is justified.
Beautiful building which has dated elegance and character. Professional friendly reception and bar staff. We had a ground floor roo. With a really comfortable 4 poster bed, large TV and large unsuited bathroom. Very clean but faded in areas.
What a great stay in a fabulous building. Three of us on a golf trip. Bedrooms huge and attention to detail a priority. The staff were very polite and courteous with thanks to Lynsey who took the booking who was extremely helpful. Also a special mention to Libby on reception who was there on arrival and checked us out and she was superb.
Having found this Hotel on the internet we looked at the photo's to see a lovely building and grounds. To check in was in the building we thought we were staying in. At this point we were told the room was 100 yards down the road. We made our way to the location which was a terraced house with no parking located on a town centre road junction. The pictures and first description made us expect our stay in the main building but in reality a house not even on the same grounds. No restaurant or bar, no gardens. We went back to reception and asked for our money back. Its now the staff pointed out if you click on another page it clearly states the room is down the road and we should have looked before booking. The advert is misleading and should be revised. The staff seemed to take pleasure in making it all our own fault. So no refund and no stay. We came home to what is a far superior place than they had us pay for. Avoid because it will ruin your holiday. Don't take my word for this look up the web site and look for the swann room. This implied to me the rooms were named and were within the main building. It became clear to us why they put "no refunds" in their literature, its because they know most will ask for one. We have since seen other peoples reviews and we are not the first to complain.
