Our Culinary Experience at The Crown Hotel, Bawtry Some places deserve to be experienced rather than explained. The Crown Hotel in Bawtry is one of them—a location worthy of a James Bond film or any great British cinematic masterpiece. We visited Bawtry during the Bawtry Classic & Sports Car Show in South Yorkshire, surrounded by magnificent vintage automobiles and spectacular supercars. It was the perfect setting for discovering one of England’s most charming hotels. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere is unforgettable. We began our evening in the elegant bar, enjoying a perfectly poured British beer and a fine glass of red wine. Then came the surprise: the beautiful Robata Grill Brasserie, where it feels as if you have walked onto the magical set of a Harry Potter film. At the heart of the restaurant stands a magnificent real oak tree, its branches stretching gracefully above the tables. What a breathtaking sight. Our dinner was delicious, and although the service was formal and welcoming, it was a little slow. Even so, the staff are truly fortunate to be part of such a unique and inspiring hotel. The Crown Hotel is an exceptional venue for weddings, celebrations, and unforgettable events, made even more special by Bawtry itself—a picturesque English town filled with outstanding restaurants and contemporary art galleries. Stayed for one night in an executive room. Staff were lovely upon check in. Hotel is in a fab location. Room 504 was rather dated and unfortunately smelled very fusty and damp from the bathroom.They had tried to tackle the smell with car scents on top of the wardrobe. Everything generally was cleaned okay but could see it was time for a deep clean and touch up. I found the bed to comfortable and once the wedding had finished it was very peaceful. Overall an okay stay but in my view not worth £175 so would not choose to stay again on a Saturday.

We visited for a family birthday and the food and service were excellent. The portions were generous and the food was tasty and well cooked. It was the best restaurant meal we have eaten for a very long time. Thank you to the staff for their care and attention.

From start to finish, the whole team were absolutely amazing — professional, attentive and genuinely cared about making our day as special and perfect as possible. A special shout-out to Emily, who was incredible throughout the planning process. She was so helpful, supportive and attentive, and made us feel completely confident that everything was going to come together exactly how we wanted. And a huge thank you to Tony, who brought everything to life on the day and managed the event so brilliantly. His organisation, professionalism and attention to detail meant we could completely relax and enjoy our wedding, knowing everything was being taken care of. It was so clear that the whole team genuinely cared about our day and wanted it to be the best it could possibly be. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and the level of service was exceptional.
