I went for a weekday spa for my birthday which included full day spa access, lunch, and 60min treatment. I was a bit anxious about booking this with the price (£179) after reading some of the google reviews, but I thought it was fantastic. All staff were lovely and welcoming and made me feel looked after on my birthday. The outdoor bit of the spa was stunning even on a grey drizzly day. There was plenty of loungers/chairs and several pools/jacuzzis/saunas to try. For lunch I had the teriyaki chicken with bao buns which were so tasty and flavourful. I had a very relaxing massage and express facial too. Spa days obviously do cost a lot of money but as a treat this one was worth it in my experience!

This hotel is set in a beautiful location and its selling point is its lovely staff, view as well as country activity venues very close by. There is also a lovely on site spa. Why did I only give it three stars: - The accommodation is disappointing, particularly in being very basic. It’s more like a travel lodge, rather than what I would expect from a quality country retreat. Additionally, we booked a double room, which had two singles beds pushed together. - The restaurant was a bit of a let down. The food was nice, but not the best I have had. Specifically, the fish cakes had three large bones in them (be careful) and the Chateaubriand was not great. - If you want to book activities like shooting or the Land Rover 4x4 experience, book directly with those centres. It’s quite a bit cheaper than booking it through the hotel which is disappointing.
We recently visited The Coniston Hotel near Skipton for a meal. It’s a fantastic location and beautiful setting, and the food itself was excellent — we really enjoyed everything we ate and couldn’t fault the kitchen at all. Unfortunately, the front-of-house service really let the experience down. When we arrived, we were told “one minute” before being seated, but ended up standing around for probably 5–10 minutes. The restaurant was extremely quiet, with only around six tables occupied in what is a very large dining room, so there didn’t seem to be any reason for the delay. The member of staff simply carried on working on a laptop while we waited, which didn’t feel particularly welcoming. Once we were eventually seated, the menus were very crumpled and looked dirty and tired, which seemed completely out of place considering how clean, tidy and well presented the rest of the hotel is. We also asked for some water, which unfortunately never arrived. Thankfully, the food was fantastic and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal itself. However, when we came to pay, things became frustrating again. Some food or drinks appeared to have been put onto the wrong table, and there was a lot of confusion about how to correct it on the till. We ended up waiting around for roughly another 10 minutes while it was sorted. It felt less like a problem with one particular member of staff and more like a lack of organisation and structure within the front-of-house operation. Nobody really seemed to know who was responsible for what, and the whole service felt unnecessarily disorganised considering how quiet the restaurant was. It’s a real shame because almost everything else about The Coniston Hotel was excellent — beautiful surroundings, a fantastic setting and genuinely very good food. With better organisation and management of the front-of-house team, it could have been a completely different experience. We would certainly return for the food and location, but the service side definitely needs some attention.
Spent one night at the Coniston Country Hotel with evening meal, breakfast and thermal so experience. I also added an extra soap treatment on the day ( full body massage) The cost was covered by a voucher i received as a present. The room was comfortable but a little smaller than expected. The evening meal was covered by the gift voucher but we would have been disappointed with the quality and value for money if had paid separately. The spa was lovely but we were disappointed that the shower and indoor jacuzzi were out of order. The staff from arrival and throughout our stay were all fabulous. Very welcoming, kind, caring and knowledgeable.
We stayed here for 2 nights whilst we did the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. The hotel itself and the surrounding grounds are beautiful, and the room we stayed in was gorgeous, clean and spacious. The ability to have Room Service was a godsend - especially when we missed the table for our evening meal after the 3 peaks took us longer than we expected - and was much appreciated! On our first night for our evening meal, we asked for the bill and upon receiving it, the staff then promptly disappeared which meant we waited a while before we ended up going up to the bar to pay as nobody came back to us. Breakfast and Room Service were very quick though, and all of the food was high quality and delicious. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again - the receptionists were also lovely and welcoming. Would definitely recommend for anyone staying in the area.
